Book Description:

Star quarterback Austin Lawson’s dating life is fair game to the myriad gossip bloggers. Thanks to his most recent screw up with a social media savvy super model, he’s forced to return home so that his PR team can do damage control. To help speed things along, he volunteers at Jessamine Elementary School, never dreaming he’d find the perfect solution to his image problem in Harper Bell. Sweet as anything, she’s star struck by him and agrees to date-after-date, never suspecting the real reason he wants to be with her. But as things begin to heat up between them, Austin realizes that he wants Harper for more than just a quick fix.

Harper Bell is perfectly content as a second grade teacher in the small town of Jessamine—until she meets the one man who makes her question her lack of social life. She never dreamed that sexy, hometown hero Austin Lawson would ever notice a plain-Jane like herself. And with one hot kiss, she begins to fall head over heels for him…until she learns the truth. Austin’s been using her.

Now Austin has to execute the perfect play to win back the girl of his dreams. Or will Harper bench him permanently?

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Yay! Another Lawson brother. I just love them. They don't always make the smartest choices, but luckily they have each other to lean on and more importantly, help talk sense into each other. I loved the interactions between Austin and his brothers, especially Caleb. (I can't wait for his book!)

This time around we have Austin. He has returned home after a video surfaced of him being mean to his ex-girlfriend. His coach and PR rep think it will be good for him to lay low for a while. Wanting to keep busy, Austin decides to volunteer at one of the local schools. It is here where he meets Harper.

Harper Bell (a cousin of the McCoys) is the girl next door. A woman you want to bring home to mom and dad. When she first meets Austin, she doesn't realize who he is and just sees an extremely good looking guy who wants to help. When Austin asks her out on a date, she is a bit taken back, but agrees. The two of them have a great time, actually enjoy each other's company and by the end of the night, Austin asks to see her again. They even share a hot kiss that leaves both of them wanting more.

It's during that date that Austin gets the whole "use Harper to rehab his image" idea, but the more time they spend together, the more he realizes that he genuinely likes her. He tries to shut down the whole idea, but he is unable to keep it from Harper and it blows up in his face.

I really did like Austin and Harper together. From the moment they met, it was obvious that the two of them had great chemistry. Harper treated him as if he was just a normal person and not a famous football player, which was really refreshing for Austin. Harper never once tried to be someone she wasn't in order to impress Austin. And Austin really could be himself with her.

Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down and I was done in no time. It left me feeling all warm and fuzzy. As always, I look forward to whatever Marquita has for us next!
