NA Romantic Comedy
Release date: January 12, 2016

Never in a million years would I have pictured myself as an axe-wielding, dragon lady, chopping up multi-colored flannel shirts into my very own plaid mulch. But here I am, chopping away my frustrations.

It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad.. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago.

What is supposed to be a fun, family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day old beard clippings. Paul’s know-it-all attitude and Porter’s devilish charm brings me to the brink of my sanity on my seven day trek across the United States with three bearded men in a small 1980’s RV.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book opens with a crazed Marley, decked out in a bridesmaid dress, basically losing her mind. She is about to take an ax to a bunch of flannel shirts and is clearly at her wits end. Why? What could have possible happened to make her like this? Luckily, the book goes back a week or so and we get to see how Marley ended up at this point.

Marley comes home one day to see her brother and father in the old family motor home, Tacy sitting in front of her apartment building. Growing up, this is what the McMann family did for their vacations. As one last hurrah before her brother Paul gets married, they are going to travel The Mother Road, aka Route 66. But with one other twist that Marley never saw coming: they pick up Porter Smith, her brother's best friend and the man who broke her heart.

During the course of the book we learn not only how Porter hurt Marley, but also why he did. I kind of felt bad for the guy. He loved Marley, but really thought that he would never be good enough for her. And after they spend some time together and he sees how well she is doing in California (he works on her father's farm in upstate NY) , that notion only gets stronger.

I loved Marley and Porter as a couple. They were so freaking adorable. While on the trip they had to sneak stolen moments and some of them were so sweet and had me hoping that things would work out between them.
“I’m still sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
He rubs his thumb across my tear-streaked face. “Don’t cry over things like me, Marley. I’m not worth your tears.”
I’m taken aback. He’s not worth my tears? Doesn’t he get it? He’s the only one worth my tears, the only one I’ve ever cared about. How can he not see that?
“Porter, you’re the only one worth crying over.”
His eyes soften and his hand cups my face. Just like I wanted when we first came up on the roof, Porter pulls me in close and presses his lips against mine. With his strong hands, he grabs my body and maneuvers it so he’s on top of me, straddling my face with his arms. His fingers run through my hair while his lips work mine. His beard rubs against my soft skin, but I welcome the rough burn; I crave it.
Needing to touch him, I find the hem of his shirt and pull it up slightly so I can touch his skin. He startles from my cold fingers, but quickly goes back to kissing me once he’s become accustom to my touch. His tongue runs across my lips, asking for entrance. Giving him what he wants, I open my mouth and his head collides deeper with mine, our tongues dancing together, heat warming both of our bodies.
Through his sweatpants, I can feel his arousal, his need for me. I never thought I would be in a position like this with Porter, but I am and it has me breaking into a million pieces, melting into his soul and becoming one.
**Sigh** There were so many moments like this that just made me swoon. Porter was this sexy, bearded, flannel wearing, beast of a man who deep down, was a big ole teddy bear. There's no way you couldn't love him. Over the course of the week Marley and Porter grow closer than they have ever been, but Porter's insecurities are always hovering over their happiness.

If you enjoy Meghan's books, then this is a must read! I laughed my ass off while reading this book. Meghan knows how to bring the funny and this may be her funniest book yet. There are so many laugh out loud moments and I would love to share them with you, but honestly it's better if you experience them yourself. But I will say that I absolutely loved when Marley's dad swore because he didn't actually swear, but yelled out President names. It was so freaking funny. And don't even get me started on her brother. That dude was hilarious.

I loved that fact that they stopped at all the quirky tourist attractions along the way. It made for some great content and it kind of made me want to take a road trip of my own! Once you read the book you will understand by Marley ended up as the crazy bridesmaid and you will find yourself saying "Do it! Ruin the flannels!!!!"  I know I definitely did.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
