RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary

The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary is now live!

Eight weeks of forced proximity is a long time to hate someone you're trying not to love.

Sebastian Stremmel doesn't need another headache. He has enough of his own without Sara Shapiro, the noisy new reconstructive surgeon, stomping all around his surgical wing with her chippy, chirpy cheerfulness.

But Sebastian doesn't usually get what he wants.

No one gets under his skin like Sara - so much so a heated "debate" and an exam room left in shambles later, they land themselves in eight weeks of hospital-mandated conflict resolution counseling. Now they're forced to fight fair...which quickly leads them to playing dirty when no one's looking.

They know it's a mistake.

They promise themselves it will never happen again.

They swear they got it out of their systems.

They didn't.

Author's Note: Grumpy/recovering people-pleaser sunshine. Introverts attract. Enemies-to-lovers in the workplace. Banter, bicker, and button-pushing foreplay. Don't tell the friend group, get jealous when the friend group tries to fix her up.

Heat: rip her clothes off before you get the front door open.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

First things first....while you don't need to read the previous book in this series, it may help you understand Stremmel a bit more. He's a complicated dude and I feel like if you are going in knowing nothing about him, you may not like him. But that's just me.

Stremmel, you grumpy bastard. I love him so much. I've been waiting for his story for so long and it's finally here and I LOVED IT SO MUCH. Gahhhhhhhhhhh! Just inject the grumpy sunshine trope into my veins because it gives me life!

Sara and Stremmel cannot have a conversation without their voices raising and/or some kind of destruction occurring. And that is why they find themselves in the work version of couples therapy. On the surface every single one of their sessions seems to be a disaster, but it is what happens after the session that is the interesting part. (i.e. the ripping of her clothes off before they get the front door open.)

The banter between Stremmel and Sara was A+. Stremmel had lots of interesting nicknames for her that had me laughing out loud. They had the whole "I hate you, but what I really want to have lots of hate sex to get you out of my system" thing down and it was AMAZING. And hot as hell!

Ugh! I just loved them so much. There is some heavy stuff that happens in this books (CW: past eating disorder that has resulted in current issues), but all those things do is show Stremmel in a better light. Being in a relationship is exactly what he needed.

Stremmel may be one of the grumpiest characters I've ever read, but he is also one of the most loyal. Despite his immense crankiness, the Walsh clan has adopted him into their family and he's begrudgingly accepted. When he has a problem, he goes to Nick and Erin. They seem to know exactly what he needs, when he needs it. I just LOVED that aspect of the book.

This book is a MUST read for anyone who is  fan of Kate's Walsh series and this spin offs. You will not be disappointed.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Tangled Up by Tia Louise

Tangled Up by Tia Louise is now live!

TANGLED UP
By Tia Louise
“Bayside Heroes” - Beck

He’s broody, he’s driven, and he’s coming back to claim what’s his.

“First, do no harm…”
It’s the start of my oath as a doctor, and breaking that oath is how I began my career.
Only I didn’t just do harm, I watched a man die right in front of me.
And not just any man—a man I hated.

I thought his death would bring me peace, but it haunts me to this day.
Every close call sparks memories of what I did to him, to me, to her.
I have to go back and face what I’ve done or end my career.

Seeing her hits me harder than the regret.
She’s still so beautiful with long, dark hair, bright amber eyes, luscious curves.
She still dominates my heart, my mind, my bed.
But she’s different now—stronger, bolder, unafraid.

We’re a mess, tangled up in a web I created.
But I’m determined to heal these wounds, to fix this break.
One thing is certain, I won’t say goodbye to her again.

(A STAND-ALONE “Bayside Heroes” novel. Small-town, second-chance doctor romance with a touch of suspense. No cheating. No cliffhanger.)

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

This is my favorite book in this series! I love a good second chance romance and this is a great one. We've been getting little nuggets of information about Beck throughout the previous three books and it was just enough for me to be REALLY curious as to what his story was.

Turns out that someone from his past was brought into the emergency room and that triggered something in Beck. He decides to go home to try to work through things and ends up running into the one person least expected to see, Carly, his first love.

Back in the day, Beck and Carly loved each other with all they had, but they went their separate ways. Now they find themselves back in the same place, at the same time and they have a lot to work through. There are lots of unresolved feelings and now that she is back in his life, Beck has to decide on whether to tell her something that may send her right out of his life again.

I loved Beck and Carly so much! Their relationship needed to be rebuilt a bit since they've been apart for seven years and Carly wasn't willing to let him in right away. Beck found himself having to put in some work and I love when there is some "wooing" to be had. Watching them reconnect and work through their past just meant that their current relationship was going to be much stronger.

RELEASE BLAST & 4 STAR REVIEW: Fired Up by K.K. Allen

Release Date: December 20

Through smoke and fire, she’s all I see.

Nothing gives me a bigger rush than when I’m responding to an emergency call.
As a firefighter EMT, my mission has always been clear.
Until I arrive at the scene of an accident and a dark-haired vixen, quite literally, trips into my life.
I quickly learn there’s more to the gorgeous photographer than meets the eye.

Meadow Matthews isn’t a woman who needs saving, but she just might save me.
As a single mom to an adorable little boy, she leaves little time for play.
Which is why, when I approach her with a fun opportunity, she instantly declines.
Unfortunately, snapping photos of greased-up firefighters for a calendar isn’t her thing.

Lucky for us, she fires me up just enough to convince her otherwise.

Fired Up is a standalone single parent romance in the Bayside Heroes series!

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Meadow is a single mom who has moved home to start over and Asher is a single guy who isn't necessarily looking for a relationship, but then he meets Meadow. Their first meeting wasn't exactly a good one, so when he sees her again, he is determined to make things right. Then, through some luck, and mutual friends, Meadow and Asher find themselves at the same wedding. It is also there that Asher realizes that Meadow if the person  who can help him with this charity calendar. Meadow is hesitant to start anything with Asher, but she quickly finds that she can't resist his charms. And I don't blame her.

Meadow and Asher's story was an absolute delight to read! They had wonderful chemistry and they had some great banter, which is something I always enjoy. Asher was always very understanding of her needs and more than willing to just go with the flow when it came to their relationship, which is exactly what she needed. And when some drama occurred and Asher needed Meadow to have his back, she was more than willing to do that. These two complimented each other so well and don't even get me started on Asher and Meadow's little boy Tate...ADORABLE.

I am really enjoying this series so far! This was a great addition to the first too! Three down, one to go!

Genre/Tropes: Opposites attract/No-strings arrangement

“He might be wrong, but I’m tired of being right.”

The extreme focus on my career has led to a lonely existence.
I don’t make time for much beyond the hospital walls.
And the pressure is getting to me.

Those who know me best highly recommend I take the edge off by any means necessary.
As it turns out, the new security guard at Bayside Regional is just what the doctor ordered.

Dane Owens is a disaster waiting to happen.
Maybe that’s why I can’t look away.
He plays fast and loose with no plans of slowing down.
Especially when it comes to dating.

We’re polar opposites, which is precisely why this arrangement is temporary.
But there’s plenty to keep us occupied until our expiration date.

All I need is for Dane to follow the rules that long.

A Bayside Heroes standalone romance.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Larsen thinks that a no strings attached relationship is what she needs in her life. And Dane is more than willing to be the other person in that relationship. The two of them couldn't be more different and that is why they work so well! Dane had no problem breaking Larsen out of her comfort zone. Thankfully she was willing to be a bit adventurous, so trying new things that she wouldn't usually do was pretty easy.

Dane and Larsen's relationship was both sweet and sexy and what starts off with no strings slowly becomes a relationship with lots of strings. I enjoy reading the "no strings attached" trope because as a reader you know that it will develop into more than that, but I love reading about everything that leads up to the characters realizing that.

This is my first Harloe Rae book and I enjoyed it. I'm definitely going to have to check out some of her backlist.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Western Waves by Brittainy Cherry

Title: Western Waves
A Compass Series Standalone
Author: Brittainy Cherry
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 9, 2021

BLURB

I always believed in fairy tales, but he preferred horrors.

Damian Blackstone didn’t care about my existence. He came into my world for one reason only. He came to find answers about his past.

He moved like the villain in my favorite fairy tales. He wasn’t the one who received the happily ever afters; he was the one who destroyed them.

Which was why I couldn’t understand why the man who raised me set it up in his will for Damian and me to be married. I wasn’t certain I’d be able to live with a man like Damian. We were as opposite as any two people could be. I loved to bathe in the sunlight while he prospered in the shadows.

I didn’t think I’d develop feelings for the one who looked at me as if I were nothing more than a means to an end. Yet in his darkness, sometimes I’d see sparks of light. I’d see gentleness. I’d see his soul.

We became entangled with one another as we fell into mistakes and called them fate. I was his Cinderella, and he was my Beast.

I wasn’t certain that twisted fairy tales ended with happily ever afters.
Still, I was determined to find out.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I'm always fascinated by arranged marriage stories. The reasons for the marriage always varies, but I think that surprise arranged marriage with a grumpy/sunshine chaser is now my favorite.

If you read Brittainy's book Eastern Lights, you may remember Damian. I finished that book wanting to know more about him, so I am VERY glad that we now have his story! AND as a bonus, we get plenty of Connor and Aaliyah in book...YAY!

Damian and Stella's first meeting was anything but good and that was before they even knew who the other person was. Getting married to someone you don't know is hard, but then make it someone that you don't really like and that makes it even harder.

Stella, being the optimist that she is, doesn't take Damian's grumpiness at face value and tries to make the best of the situation. It takes a little bit, but she manages to breakdown his walls...little by little. And that is when the book really takes off.

This book is so much more than just a story of two people forced to get married. Both Stella and Damian have their baggage and it makes for some very heavy lifting. But between the two of them, they are able to deal with everything that comes their way and more.

EXCERPT

"Are my eyes deceiving me, or is the busy Doc Belle dropping in for a visit?"

Larsen's posture is stiff. Strictly business. "That depends on what you're seeing, Beast. Reality and fantasy are vastly different."

I paste on a crooked smirk. "Ah, there's the snark I was anticipating. Just as I pictured."

She quirks a brow. "You've been thinking about me?"

A grunt for confirmation. "Hard not to. We seem to cross paths rather frequently."

"Whose fault is that?" The unflinching stare she pins on me is telling.

"It's very tight quarters," I murmur.

Her features pinch into a disbelieving frown. "We have an entire floor."

"Doesn't seem that way to me." Even now, in the open foyer, the air feels stifling. That has everything to do with my present company within reach.

Larsen gives me a lazy once-over. "I can see why."

"Was that a compliment?" I shift my stance, rocking forward with the adjustment.

Her gulp is audible. "You fill the space with your big… shoulders."

"The better to protect you with." My voice drops several octaves for maximum impact.
It could be my imagination, but I swear a slight tremble ripples down her form. "You're confusing the fairytales."

"Nah. I'm interchangeable, babe. You get all the heroes wrapped in one package with me." Minus the romance and relationship. I'll provide the carnal pleasure and let those willing to commit take my scraps.
Larsen snorts. "Ah, I was wondering when your arrogance would make an appearance."

"I didn't want to scare you off with my cock… iness too soon." This one definitely spooks easy.

As if to prove my point, her startled gaze leaps below my belt. She regains her composure with a cough, smoothing a steady palm over her hair. "It's funny you should mention that…"

"He might be wrong, but I'm tired of being right."

The extreme focus on my career has led to a lonely existence.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Washed Up: An Age Gap Medical Romance (Bayside Heroes #1) by Kandi Steiner

Washed Up by Kandi Steiner is now live!

It was just another day in the Emergency Department -- until she was wheeled in through the doors.

Amanda Parks, my childhood best friend's mom who I may or may not have secretly kissed before leaving for college.

I haven't seen her in over a decade, and in so many ways, she hasn't changed.

Same killer curves.
Same hypnotizing eyes.
Same reaction from my heart when I see her.

But something new?
There isn't a ring on her finger anymore...
And I'm much more of a man than I was at eighteen.

Washed Up is a slow burn age gap medical romance that will have your heart racing as you turn the pages desperate for more. Early reviewers are calling it “addicting,” “gripping,” and “phenomenal!”⁣

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

This is the first book in a 4 book series where each book is written by a different author. I've read books by 2 out of the 4 authors, with Kandi being one of them. As soon as I signed up to read this series I got excited and this book did not disappoint!

Amanda was extremely hesitant to start anything with Greg. She is still going through a divorce from her terrible ex-husband and is trying to get back on her feet. Greg is finally secure in his career and is ready to put down some roots. They both realize that they have been missing out on life, so they come up with a list of fun things they want to do. Sounds like some clean, innocent fun, right?

I love me an older woman/younger man trope and kudos to Kandi for writing it! This story is a bit of slow burn and even though I knew what would happen, I still found myself asking "Will they? Won't they?" because it's all about HOW it would happen.

This book is a great start to the series! I already have the ARC for the second book, Screwed Up, and I'm very excited to read it!

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing "emotional rollercoaster" stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance -- in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you're a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she's your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women's Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her "freedom of press." She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn't writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine -- not necessarily in that order.
