COVER & BLURB REVEAL: Famed by Magan Vernon

FAMED by Magan Vernon
Release Day: June 6th
Imperfect Love Kindle Worlds

On the heels of Mary James leaked sex tape - totally a fake one to make her boyfriend jealous she might add- she needs some PR help if she ever wants her acting career to end up in a fiery hell like her love life.

Chris Garcia has been working his way up from mail room clerk to junior associate at Tate & Cane and now to get to the next rung of the corporate ladder he has to take on the firm's toughest client: Mary James.

With a little help from a nosey Aunt Rosita and Mama Garcia, the two decide the best way to move forward is simple: a fake relationship.

But what happens when something fake gets to be too real and FAME gets involved?

EXCERPT

She leaned forward, her warm breath a whisper on my lips. “Thank you for showing me that there’s more to life than the city. Or to do things just for PR stunts.”

Before I could respond, she crushed her lips to mine, her hands going to my shoulders and pulling me closer to her, so I almost fell on top of her onto the plush leather seats.

“Hey! No sex back there. You’ll ruin the leather!” Lance yelled, causing a giggle to escape her sweet lips as she broke our kiss, pressing her forehead to mine.

“Want me to move?” I asked, staring into her bright blue eyes, shimmering in the light from the street lamps.

“Only if you’re moving closer,” she whispered before sealing my lips with hers again.

Being with her, and feeling that hot little body against mine could make me forget that this was just for business. That we were just supposed to be a publicist and client.

And the way her soft little moans escaped her lips and her hands roamed over my back; it made me forget all about work and just think about the feel of her soft skin. How much more of it I wanted to see.

Before I could even have more lustful thoughts, Lance took a sharp turn, causing both of us to go flying in the other direction.

“Lance!” Mary hissed, sitting up as I went back to my seat, adjusting the very large bulge in my pants that was now straining.

“Sorry. Something in the road,” Lance said with a smile, glancing at Brian out of the corner of his eye.

“I guess they aren’t on team LoChri,” I said, taking Mary’s hand on her lap and intertwining our fingers.

“LoChri? Not exactly the best ship name,” she quipped.

“Lourdes and Christiano. LoChri.” I traced her knuckles with my thumb.

“If it’s going to be a ship name in the media we should probably use Mary and Chris. Or even James and Garcia. But that almost sounds like some sort of Badass cop duo or something,” Mary said, lowering her voice. “James and Garcia, here to see about a robbery.”

“I think LoChri sounds good. Sexy even,” I said, slowly running my thumb for her knuckles, down to the soft flesh of her leg where her dress line ended.

“Jarcia. No. Not that either. Maybe…hmmm…” She moved our intertwined hands up her thigh until my knuckles pressed against her damp panties.

I raised an eyebrow, and she bit down on her bottom lip slightly before a smile crossed her lips.

“MaChri?” I asked, running my thumb along the center of her soaked center.

“Hmmm…I guess that’s not bad. But I think you could do better. Go deeper maybe,” she said in a husky tone.

Without even thinking, I pushed aside the wet fabric of her panties and slid one finger inside of her. She was completely bare and already so wet, her body clamping around me and damn if that didn’t have my cock straining against my zipper.

“Keep going. I know you’ve got something good in there.” She turned, her eyes meeting mine as she kept one hand on mine beneath her dress and the other to my face.

I smirked, sliding a second finger inside of her and moving my thumb to draw circles over her clit. She arched her back, her eyes widening as she let out a shaky breath.

“Do you want me to stop coming up with names?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Don’t. Stop.” she breathed, arching her hips forward and pushing me deeper inside of her.

I grinned, feeling the pressure of her walls as I rubbed her clit while hooking and twirling my finger inside of her.

“I still think MaChri is the best,” I murmured. God, she was hot the way her eyelids fluttered, and she clenched around me, so close I could almost taste it.

“I think you’re close,” she whispered.

“I think you are.” I crushed my lips to hers as she clenched hard around me, her moan escaping into my mouth as I quickened my pace, letting her come down from her orgasm then build up to a new one, letting out another sweet and glorious moan. Slowly I moved my fingers back to the side of her panties, a soft whimper escaping her lips as if she missed the feel of me.

I’d been with quite a few girls, but none responded to me the way Mary’s body did. I vowed to keep it professional and to think this wasn’t real, but after feeling her come twice on my fingers, all I could think about is how good she would feel riding me.

“So…you like that ship name?” I asked, smiling into her lips once we’d broken the kiss.

“I think I liked something,” she whispered, placing another soft kiss on my mouth then resting her head on my shoulder.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.

Oops. My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.

This was going to be interesting…

Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.

Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.

Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from NYT and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of the book through Netgalley with the promise of an honest review.

I wouldn't call the first meeting between Ruby and Bane a meetcute, but I would call it interesting. A ridiculous case of mistaken identity results in a very sick Bane shoving his tongue down Ruby's throat, coughing on her (Ew!) and getting her extremely sick. Sounds terrible right? But then add on the fact that Ruby's sickness causes a disastrous audition, which then makes her unable to make rent and she gets evicted, and it makes it so much worse.

Needing a place to stay, Ruby's best friend hooks her up with a pet sitting job that could possibly require her to stay on the premises. Sounds perfect right? It seems that way until she realizes that the person in need of a pet sitter is the same person that got her sick! But when Bane finds out what happened he doesn't hesitate to have Ruby move into his place while he is away. He feel terrible about everything that happened and wants to make it right. And that is when the fun really starts!

I LOVED Ruby and Bane. In the beginning they had this fantastic banter that was somewhere between sarcasm and foreplay. While Bane is away, he and Ruby start a text/video chat relationship that takes them both by surprise. Sure, he wants to check up on his pets, but he also finds himself wanting to talk to Ruby as well. But over time the sarcastic banter slowly becomes foreplay and it was fantastic. And in my opinion, that is the best kind of banter. Give me banter masked as foreplay or give me death!

Now it's confession time. This was my first Helena Hunting book. I have most of the Pucked series on my ereader, but I just haven't had the time to read them. So when this book popped up on Netgalley and I saw that it was a standalone, not related to a series, I jumped at the chance to read it. The synopsis cracked me up and it sounded like something that I would definitely enjoy. And I definitely did!

Shacking Up Blog Tour: Author Q&A

1. Describe Shacking Up using no more than 140 characters (a la Twitter).

Sexy, quirky, with enough sexual tension to light your underwear on fire.

2. Where did you get inspiration for the character’s names, particularly Bancroft aka Bane?

Once I met a police officer (I wasn’t doing anything illegal) who introduced himself as Bancroft. I thought that was his last name, so I sassily introduced myself by my last name as well. Then he corrected me, telling me that his first name was Bancroft, and I felt obviously ridiculous. He was a mammoth man. He practically had to duck through doorways, so I put that one in the name bank for a rainy day. I also thought it was rather hilarious that it could be shortened to Bane—as in the bane of my existence, which we know Bancroft certainly is not. Ruby is a spunky name and I thought reflected the heroine’s fiery personality.

3. Shacking Up is hilarious! How easily does the banter between the characters come for you? Do you ever struggle writing the humor in your books?

With Ruby and Bane the banter came easily because there weren’t a lot of social constraints or limitations for them. At the beginning they’re working under the premise of a business arrangement, so the pressure is off and Ruby isn’t really one to hold back,. Neither is Bane for that matter. I have such a fun time creating off the wall, sometimes sexually tense scenes, especially with these two.

4. Do you ever make yourself laugh when writing a scene?

Yes. I feel weird saying that, but there are times when I’m imagining what is happening as I’m writing and thinking “this is just ridiculous”. My hope is that if I think it’s ridiculous, so will other people, and it will inspire the same reaction. Francesca certainly helped make it a lot easier to fit in fun, light-hearted situations.

5. What inspired Bane’s exotic choice in pets?

Ferrets are freaking adorable, but they are menaces if they’re left to their own devices. They’re also a lot like dogs and cats, but they require a different kind of care, the fact that they’re illegal in NYC also helped. As for Tiny—I think a lot of people would be reluctant to take care of a giant spider, no matter how cool they are as pets. I felt like both of them would be lend for some funny situations.

6. The heroes in your Pucked series are all hockey stars, and Bane in Shacking Up is an ex-rugby player. Is it safe to say you have a thing for athletes?

I guess you could say I have a fascination with athletes. That level of physical fitness takes an extraordinary amount of discipline, plus STAMINA!!! More than just being an athlete, I have an affinity for heroes who show loyalty and determination and who are just as much about brain as brawn.

7. Ruby is a bit of a rebel, defying her family to go after her dreams. What do you love most about her?

I love that despite things not always going her way, she refuses to take the easy way out. Our paths are not always linear and Ruby is very willing to make concessions where she needs to in order to prove to herself and her family that she can attain her goals.

8. Why are Bane and Ruby so perfect for each other?

They’re both very goal oriented people with the same core values. Ruby is a firecracker and Bane needs someone with that level of sass to challenge him. For Ruby, Bane is an inherent caretaker, BUT he tries not to force that care on her which is something she can appreciate.

9. Are there any books or authors you’re really excited about right now?

I’m excited for Ann Marie Walkers BLACK TIE OPTIONAL. I recently devoured Jana Aston’s Grind Me Series and Debra Anastasia is writing the most awesome book right now, and I can’t wait until it’s ready for public consumption.

Forbidden Promises Excerpt

“I won’t hurt you, Sloan. I promise.”

There was no logical reason for her to trust him, but he’d been careful with her up to this point. Perhaps he’d be careful with her with what came next. She nodded mutely, watching as he rolled on a condom that he’d retrieved from his pocket. Her body hummed in anticipation and trepidation, but she didn’t let it show as he moved back to join her on the bed.

Jude palmed her between her legs, his big fingers exploring her. It didn’t seem possible that he could spark pleasure with a few specific touches, but it didn’t take much to have her relaxing, letting him once again take the lead. He kissed her neck. “Feels good, huh?”

“Well, I—oh.” Her eyes went wide when he pushed a second finger into her. It stretched her, the feeling not entirely pleasant at first, but he merely waited, pulsing the slightest bit, until pleasure took hold once more. She clutched his shoulders. “Kiss me again. Please.”

“You don’t have to ask twice.” He took her mouth like he owned it—like he owned every part of her. Jude slid between her legs, his body rubbing deliciously against hers. His hard length slid through her wetness, creating a friction that sparked a tide of desire deep inside her. Again? I couldn’t possibly…

He nipped her bottom lip and then soothed the slight ache with his tongue. “Ready?”

There was no mistaking his meaning. She nodded. Despite the earlier orgasm and how good it felt to have him moving against her, she was so incredibly empty. Instinct had her hooking a leg around his hips and arching up to meet him, needing more, so much more.

Jude reached between them, and then he was at her entrance. He kissed her, tongue twining with hers as he pushed into her, just a single inch. It was too much and not enough and she couldn’t help but thrash, pinned in place by his big body, overwhelmed by her helplessness and what he was doing to her. “Jude, I—”

“Shh. I’ve got you.” He rolled, taking her with him. One second she was on her back, finding it hard to breathe, and the next she was straddling him where he sat with his back against the headboard.

Sloan looked down, daunted by the sheer size of him. “I don’t know if this is going to work. You’re too big.”

He laughed, deep and full-throated, the sound rolling through her like the tide. “You can take every inch of me, sunshine. I promise you that.”

Praise for The O’Malleys Series

"It can be hard to make a ruthless assassin into a sympathetic character, but Robert handles the task with ease. She also deftly shows Sloan’s transformation from a pampered and protected naïf to a strong woman with a backbone of pure steel. A tension-filled plot full of deceit, betrayal, and sizzling love scenes will make it impossible for readers to set the book down."—Publishers Weekly on FORBIDDEN PROMISES

4 Star Review: Tomorrow (Kingsley #1) by Haylee Thorne

Welcome to the world of the young and restless.

Raeva Ray is young, brash, educated and beautiful. He quickly realizes that it will take more than flash and money to tame this beautiful sexy creature. Despite outward appearances however, when it comes to navigating her way around a man's heart...Raeva is clueless. After a few failed and unhealthy relationships, she had vowed to remain single and chaste...FOREVER! Like a perfect storm brewing on the horizon, these two enigmatic souls seem charted on a collision course with fate. Into her finely structured life walks Mika Kingsley, with his charismatic smile, enigmatic presence and his oh so dirty mouth. Temptation on two legs, Mika plays her body like an instrument. Raeva is finally learning what it’s like to have her body worshiped, and what it feels like to be helpless and overcome with desire and pleasure. She falls hard and fast and everything is perfect. Until...it’s not.

Mika is determined to hide all his secrets and mistakes. But they are coming back to haunt him; he knows he could lose Raeva forever. With things flying out of control and their world falling apart, Raeva must choose between what seems to be the truth and the truth she feels in her heart. Can Mika keep those he loves safe and avoid losing the one woman who makes him want to live for tomorrow?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Raeva can't believe her luck when she lands a nursing position at a top notch facility. Having only recently passed her boards, this position is exactly what she needs to advance her career. On her first day, she meets Mika Kingsley. She misjudges his relationship to her patient and the two get off on the wrong foot. Despite the fact that he is the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, she finds him to be a bit of a jerk. But once the misunderstanding is cleared up, Mika makes his intentions toward Raeva very clear.
“What?” I prompt, when I catch him staring at me.
“You are very...different. I guess that I’m not used to women who are as sweet as you, who treat others with such kindness. There is something about you…the way that you put others at ease. I admire that…a lot.”
I feel my cheeks heat up.
“Wow…um…what kind of women do you usually date?” I say half-jokingly while the other half of me would really like to know.
Mika reaches across the table and takes my hand in his before lifting it to his lips. He gently presses a kiss on the back before he answers.
“I don’t date,” he states simply.
A snort escapes my lips, causing Mika to raise his brow.
“This is somehow funny to you?” he asks.
“Yeah, well, excuse me if I am having a hard time picturing you as a monk.”
He looks at me, face laced with amusement.
“I hardly think I said anything like that, sweet pea. I am pretty sure I said that I don’t date, not that I have lived my life as a monk.”
Of course he doesn’t, I tell myself. I can’t say that I’m not thrown off a little by his reply. I mean, what are we doing here then? This is not a date? I kind of feel like an idiot for even thinking this was a date in the first place. A man like Mika Kingsley wouldn’t be interested like that in a girl like me. I’m so embarrassed that I can’t bring myself to look at him. I really don’t know how to react to this, so I simply say, “Oh.”
I feel his grip tighten around my hand.
“I just never felt inclined to spend time with a woman outside of…bedroom activities.”
I still cannot find the courage to look at him.
“Until now, that is.”
Now my eyes snap up to meet his. Did he just say what I think he said? I can’t keep track. This man is confusing me. I want him to elaborate on his statement but before he can—if he was even going to—we are interrupted by the return of Trevor with my new glass and our appetizers. Mika did not oversell the food. We start off with a mouthwatering beef carpaccio, followed by a delicious boneless lamb with mushroom crust and leek puree with miniature fingerling potatoes. To top it all off, we have the most incredible crème brulee I’ve ever tasted. We spend the meal talking about pretty much everything under the sun—except the one thing I really want to talk about—and I find that I really enjoy his company. I tell him about growing up in a small town with just my mom, my sister Serena, and my younger brother River. He tells me about the mischief he used to cause with Mikaela. It feels effortless. We joke and laugh like old friends and, despite the very obvious sexual tension between us, I feel very much at ease with him.
“I’m so stuffed. I don’t think that I can move,” I groan.
Mika chuckles at my statement.
“I love the way you attacked your food with gusto,” he teases.
“What? I like to eat, so what?” I say, not able to stop myself from grinning.
“As tiny as you are, I wouldn’t have believed it were it not for what I witnessed tonight. Dear lord sweet pea, that was downright scary,” he exclaims, looking at me in mock horror.
I roll my eyes and stick my tongue out at him.
“You better put that thing away because I won’t be held responsible for my actions if you don’t,” Mika says darkly. “Unless you want me to throw you on this table and have my way with you.”
Whoa…what? My mouth falls open. He wouldn’t. Would he? I should be put off by his words but instead I am very turned on. Mika lifts himself out of his seat and prowls toward me.
“Maybe I want you to,” I say so quietly it sounds like a whisper.
But there is no doubt that he heard every letter. Mika stops in his tracks for a moment, just as surprised by my words as I am, and then another one of those wicked grins spreads across his face, and I know that I’m in trouble—the good kind of trouble. He swiftly has me lifted out of my seat by my waist and facing him. He traces my bottom lip with his thumb.
“You better be careful what you wish for, sweet pea,” he mutters.
Oh my.
“Kiss me, Raeva,” he demands.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

Haylee serves up some Alexa Riley realness with Mika. He's a powerful, rich (nonasshole-ish) Alpha who will do anything to get what he wants. And he basically does. His relationship with Raeva is a fast moving one that is full of heat. Lots and lots of heat. But Mika is also very sweet and treats her like a queen. Raeva is not used to a guy treating her the way Mika does and at first she is a bit hesitant, but let's just say that Mika can be very persuasive when he needs to be. I loved their relationship and was definitely excited for them to get their happily ever after.

This is a wonderful debut from Haylee and that left me wanting more. While the book isn't a cliffhanger, there is some unfinished business that I am assuming will be addressed in subsequent books. I found the mystery aspect to the story to be quite intriguing and I found myself trying to figure out what exactly was going on. There are also some great secondary characters that I want more of.

Before Haylee Thorne was imported from Amsterdam (The Netherlands), she was living a nomad kind of life, always traveling, resulting in a whopping 32 countries she has visited. Originating from Europe, the talent of speaking multiple languages comes naturally. Haylee speaks five languages fluently and a few others enough to order her trademark mimosa in nearly any language. After finally settling in the United States, she decided to set down roots starting a career in healthcare. Haylee is a proud RN, adores her job, and lives happily in Kentucky. With the art of writing flowing through her veins, and the appetite for devouring books since she has been very young; Ms. Thorne decided to embark on a writing journey like no other. Very new to the genre of romance, Haylee has just released her very first novel, part of the highly anticipated “Kingsley” series with the second installment coming to you in the very near future. Also, Haylee is working on a couple more projects, all of which promise to be very AWESOME. STAY TUNED!

COVER REVEAL: Bad Penny by Staci Hart

BAD PENNY CR BANNER.jpg

Bad Penny, an all-new romantic comedy standalone from Staci Hart is coming June 15th!

Author: Staci Hart

Nothing good comes after the third date.

See, date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he gets weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.

Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.

So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked and can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.

Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

"A steamy and red-hot enemies-to-lovers romance like I've never read before!" - Beneath the Covers Book Blog

"It was FREAKING FANTASTIC! Sexy, charming, and full of witty banter, I couldn't get enough of Luke and Charlotte!" - Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

When Charlotte left her life in New York City behind, all she thought about was getting to Los Angeles. But when her car breaks down in a tiny little town in Texas, her plans changed. It is the last place she wants to be and it turns out she is going to be there for a lot longer than she wants. Soon after she arrives she meets the Wilder siblings. Molly and Duke are quite welcoming, but Luke immediately pisses Charlotte off. So you know what that means!

Both Charlotte and Luke make assumptions about the other person that of course aren't true. But when Charlotte offers her help on marketing his whiskey distillery they end up spending some time together. Of course it doesn't take long for the two of them to discover that they were wrong about the other person. The chemistry between Charlotte and Luke is apparent from the moment they meet. They have some great banter that just ups the sexual tension between them. And in my opinion that is the best kind of banter!

I really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.
Charlotte and Luke come from very different worlds and she is not all the truthful with the state of her personal life. But they had that whole "opposites attract" thing going for them and it was FANTASTIC to watch unfold. Their relationship was a delightful, fast moving one that had me hoping they would be able to work things out.

This is great stand alone from Kendall Ryan that you will be able to pick up and finish in an afternoon. And you will be happy you did.
