My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Marquita has done a really good job of setting up Lemon's and Tristan's story. We were given glimpses into their fantastic love/hate relationship in previous books so going into this one I couldn't wait to find out what the story was.

This book didn't disappoint. The book starts with Tristan over in Afghanistan. He has just received a box of fake lemons that have lipstick kisses all over them, which has been sent to him from Lemon. Turns out these two have been writing letters to each other. At first the letters were sarcastic and funny, but they eventually turned into something else. You could even say that the two of them turned what they had into a semi-romantic relationship. They even started chatting on Facebook.

Once Tristan returned home, he tried to make good on a promise he made Lemon, but unfortunately a meddling McCoy sister gets in the way and ruins things. And THAT is why these two have the relationship they have today.

It's now five years later and Lemon and Tristan have just slept together. They part on not so good terms and 8 weeks later Lemon discovers she is pregnant. She tells Tristan the news and suggests they get married. She is a bit surprised when he says yes, but of course he says yes. He loves her!

It was so obvious that they belonged together. They loved each other for so long, but assumed the other didn't feel the same way. I loved how Tristan managed to surprise Lemon with the things that she thought were long forgotten:
His blue gaze burned into hers. “I don’t want to wait to get married, Lemon. I want you in my house, in my bed... I want to take care of you,” he said, and she blinked.
“What about after the baby is born?” she asked.
He tilted his head to one side.
“When Lawson men get married, it’s for life.”
When McCoy women marry, it’s for as long as it suits them.”
“Do you expect me to take your last name, like your father did for your mother?” he asked.
“It’s tradition.”
“Not asking about tradition. I’m asking what you, Lemon Ann McCoy, want.” He flexed his hand under hers. “I remember you telling me that you wanted to be different from the rest of your family.”
Her letters to him. “You remember what I wrote?”
“Every word.”
“I don’t want to continue that tradition.” Or any of the others she secretly hated.
“Why don’t we start our own traditions?” Slipping his hand out from under her, he gently grabbed it and brought it to his mouth, kissing her knuckles.
She gasped in pleasure, and her nipples hardened. “Like what?”
“That we marry for the rest of our lives and that you, sweet Lemon, take my last name.” He leaned over her, and she rolled to her back. His head dipped , his mouth coming dangerously close to hers. She licked her lips, desperately wanting to do the same to his, but she couldn't because she knew what would happen.
They would have sex, then one of the women from his harem would show up and humiliate her. Again.
“What do you say?” he asked, brushing his mouth against her cheek.
She shivered in response.
He chuckled low in his throat. “I think this is the first time I’ve ever rendered you speechless.”
I loved everything about their relationship. Despite the outside forces trying to keeping them apart, it was lovely to see their love for each come to the surface and grow with each passing day. I look forward to the possibility of getting glimpses of their future in subsequent books.

This is book is a fantastic addition to this series. Tristan seeks advice from his brother Mason so we get to see how he is doing and Marquita also gives a glimpse into his brother Caleb's story. Something tells me that will be an emotional read, but first we get to meet the not so often seen Austin. I can't wait! Bring on more Lawson brothers!!
