A devilish, almost villainous grin graced his lips as his eyes filled with amusement. “Oh, Gabriella, you’ve no idea,” he said. “I shouldn’t do this. I shouldn’t be here, but I can’t seem to help myself.”

His words caught me off guard as his hands gripped my hips and he pushed me backwards until the brick of the wall bit into the skin of my lower back. He leaned down until his lips were dangerously close to mine. My insides quivered, and my heart leaped into my throat. For an entire week, I’d been waiting for his hands to be on me again, and now that he was right there, I knew I’d die if he didn’t touch me. Kiss me. Take me home and ravish me like he had that first night.

“Adrian,” I whispered, surprised at the breathy, sultry tone of my voice. God, it’d only been a week and I was already dangerously addicted to him.

His eyes gleamed as if he could read my mind, and I wondered if this has been his plan all along. To give me a taste, a perfect sneak peek at what being his would be like, and then take it away, only to keep showing up to tease me. To dangle the proverbial carrot on the string that was too high for me to get a taste or even the slightest nibble. It would suffice only for a moment, but it would be just enough to keep me from going insane. He was a deranged Pavlov and I was his little dog, salivating and panting, wanting him, that torturous bell ringing over and over again, but instead of giving me what I wanted, he kept it too far out of reach.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. 

OMG! I am so mad at Tessa right now. Okay, not really. But how could she just end the book like that! Argh! 

I have so many questions. Who? Why? Huh? WHAAAAAAAT? There are so many scenarios running though my head right now and I am dying to know what is going on.  SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. 

But first things first...this book for me, was all about Rafe. RAFE! Holy crap! When we first meet him he is witnessing a particularly angry interaction between Brie and Adrian. Once Adrian goes away, which is very soon after the interaction, he makes his presence known to Brie. He introduces himself as the foreman of the construction project that Brie is overseeing for Adrian. He wastes no time letting her know what he would never treat her the way Adrian does. They have only known each other for minutes and things get super heated. TALK ABOUT MAKING AN INTRODUCTION. 

I don't want to say too much about the plot because I don't want to give anything away, but I will say this. Rafe sees that Brie is basically being held captive and he gives her an out. It isn't long before Brie and Rafe are WAY more involved with each other than they should be. I can't say that I blame either of them. Brie is a wonderful person who was taken advantage of and Rafe is just....UGH. He's just freaking perfect. But while he is loving, protective, funny, sweet, sexy, and understanding, he is also doing a job. We don't really know what that job is, but I truly believe he isn't pretending with Brie...everything he fells for her is genuine. Also, these two have amazing chemistry and the sex is OFF THE CHARTS amazing. Who knew sex in a construction trailer could be so HOT.  You're  curious now aren't you? Well you should be!

And I know Adrian is supposed to be the bad guy here, but there is a small part of me that is kind of like "Well maybe he really isn't that bad." Again, I won't give anything away, but his actions aren't sitting right with me. Then again, I could be completely wrong about that. Only time will tell. 

Warning: this book does have a major cliffhanger so if you hate than kind of thing, I would wait until the 2nd book comes out before reading.

I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.
