And when the dangers of Noah’s job become all too real, Jordan learns being with a fighter pilot means risking it all for a shot at love…

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those books where you finish reading it and you immediately want to go back in time just so you can read it again for the first time. When I started writing this review I went back to grab some excerpts and ended up rereading a lot of it. It's just that good.

"Please tell me you aren't the bride."

One simple sentence. That's all it took. Jordan is out celebrating her sister's upcoming nuptials and she is decked out in embarrassing bachelorette gear. Translation: HILARIOUS PENIS HEADBAND. Noah sees her and, despite the headband, he is instantly attracted to her. The two introduce themselves to each other and what follows is what I consider to be an epic love story.

But let's be honest, the two of them in a relationship is not ideal. Noah is a fighter pilot who lives in Oklahoma and Jordan owns a clothing store in Florida. Long distance is hard enough and then add in the fact that Noah is in the military and it becomes a lot harder. Military life is totally new to Jordan and we are along for the ride as she struggles to come to terms with everything. And on Noah's side, we see him trying to figure how to have a relationship while being active military. They are both new to this and at times my hear just broke for the two of them. The things that Noah and Jordan go through are a reminder that being involved with someone in the military is not easy. The two of them go through some heavy stuff, but the love they have for each other gets them through it. And multiple times during their story Noah disappoints Jordan because of his duties. She knows that it is his job and can't do anything about it, but it still hurts.

Here's the thing about this book. It it so well written that you will feel every emotion. You will laugh when the characters laugh. You'll cry when they cry. And that scene where Jordan and Noah have sex for the first time...HOLY CRAP.
This was my favorite moment. Always. That moment right before everything started, when you hovered over the edge, that moment when you existed in the in-between. The promise of intimacy was a game-changer, and yet there was still that tension that lingered, the pause before everything altered. It was that moment when you were in the water and caught sight of a great wave, all of nature hanging in suspension as you watched the beauty of its power and prepared for the ride of your life. It was the possibility of it . Later it could turn out to be a dud, it could fuck you over and disappoint, but now, now —
It was magic.
He was magic.
Then a little later:

Noah stroked the back of my neck, a shiver rippling through me. His touch was light, his fingers teasing. He slid forward, tracing the curve of my neck, skimming my collarbone, my entire world focused on the pads of his fingers. Each part of my body that he touched felt remade, born again to something new, something I’d never imagined. As though I gave those pieces to him, losing myself at the same time I found something I’d never expected.
There was so much beauty here that it hurt. I’d wanted dirty and quick and I’d gotten the slow death, death by one thousand strokes.
I loved every single one of them.
I sucked in a deep breath when Noah reached the center of my chest, hovering there, inches away from my cleavage. He turned me to face him, his other hand tipping my chin up so our gazes locked.
My mouth went dry.
His eyes were night, dark pools I couldn’t read, his breath ragged as though he’d gone to war and barely come out the other end. I drank his sighs as though they were water and I was dying of thirst, wanting, needing to take each part of his body into mine.
This wasn’t sex. It was worship.
This is some "if you need me I will be taking a cold shower" stuff. But it's not just all about the sex. They connect on a deeper level. In the beginning they had these awesome conversations that helped them not only understand one another, but also help them realize that there was more to whatever was happening between them. It wasn't just about the lust they felt. Chanel has given us another fantastic book and I am going to stop here because I could on all day abut how much I loved this book.

I am REALLY excited for the rest of this series as we will get stories about Noah's friends Thor and Easy, who are in this book. Easy just broke my damn heart. Unrequited love sucks and this guy probably has the worst case that I have seen. I can't for him to get his happily ever after. But first we get Thor's story. Sounds like it will be some second chance romance goodness!

Sidenote: I was so in love with this book by the time I finished, I just had to make some of my own teasers. Enjoy!
