My wife’s dead. She killed herself right in front of me and it’s all my fault. My main goal now is to not mix my sexual needs with my emotional needs. Those are damaged forever. I bury my pain in a sex club that provides me an anonymous release. This way I never emotionally cheat on my wife. She was my forever. This is my right now.
Kamii
You name it I’ve read it. I love my erotic novels. After my husband was murdered, this is the only excitement I get out of my lonely, pathetic, workaholic life. That is, until I met Becca with her invitation to join her for one of my wildest book fantasies. Now I can be whoever I want to be, where no one knows my past and will never be my future.
My Review
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Both Preston and Kamii have suffered tremendous personal losses and are grieving. Kamii has become a workaholic and Preston has channeled his grief in what most people would consider a bit unconventional way: a very private and exclusive sex club. Membership is completely anonymous and that is where Preston and Kamii "meet." They may only know each other by the names Eros and Eurydice, but the chemistry between them is instantaneous and extremely intense. They manage to stay anonymous for a little but, but an unfortunate turn of events throws them together in the real world and they have to work together to make things right.
I don't want to give too much away about the plot because I believe that the less the reader knows, the better. But I will say that this book is HOT. The scenes at the club are some the of the hottest I have read.
Preston and Kamii had this amazing connection that brought everything they did sexually, to a whole new level. Just them kissing made Preston feel things he thought he would never feel again:
Our lips part and reality hits me harder than a wrecking ball. No, this chick is way more than a wrecking ball, knocking down walls meant to stand up for five lifetimes. In a matter of an hour, she’s not only knocked down my wall, she slammed into it, tearing it apart with no care in the world yet she has no idea all the damage she just inflicted. Then after Kamii has an very sexy encounter at the club (with other men), Preston is there to care for her:
He leans down, kissing me again but this time holding me tightly while he slowly moves his tongue around mine.
This kiss feels different. I’m not sure if it’s because of what just happened but suddenly I want to be wrapped in his arms.
His arms only.
He lies down, turning me to my side and pulling me in close to him. Reaching to the side, he pulls a blanket around us as we lay, close to one another, naked yet not in a sexual way. I’m so comforted by his touch. He’s not trying anything with me, just holding me as we lay in silence.
I’ve never felt more secure, more alive and more comforted than this moment and I don’t want to fight it. Nothing matters more than the relaxation that I feel in my soul. It’s something I haven’t felt in years and I don’t want it to end.
You knew they were there for a particular reason. It was just supposed to be about the sex, but eventually that reason becomes so much more than just trying to forget about their past. They start to form a real relationship. Neither of them expected it, but it turns out it was what they needed most.
Lauren's books are so much more than your usual love story. She likes to throw you for a loop (both good and bad), which I love, ESPECIALLY if I don't know it is coming. Once I pick up one of her books, I have a hard time putting it down.
