Author: Claudia Connor
Publisher: Loveswept

 Release Date: September 9, 2014

Blurb

They meet on a beach. . . . Abby Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of missions . . . and fallen brothers.

They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what he’s always wanted: a family.

But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.

NOTE FROM CLAUDIA
& CHARACTER INTERVIEW

Happy first birthday to Matt and Abby!! I can't believe it's been a year since Worth The Fall left the nest of my tiny writing closet and went into the world. I can't thank you all enough for reading, for sharing, and for loving Matt, Abby, and the kids as much as I do. I hope you enjoyed catching up with them in Worth The Risk and you'll get another sweet update in JT's, book Worth It All.

Matt and Abby mean so much to me and Worth the Fall is about falling in love, making choices and taking chances. It’s also about believing you’re enough, believing you’re worthy of what’s being offered. I absolutely LOVE these characters. I spent three years with them before I ever considered writing their story, then almost three more years writing it. Any minute of any day, I can pop into their lives, be a fly on the wall. It’s like watching your favorite movie that never ends!

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Matt and ask him some fun questions. 10 questions, to be exact!

10 questions from Inside the Actor’s Studio:

"Thanks for having me." Matt sits back in the leather club chair and checks his watch. "I've got ten minutes before all hell breaks loose but we'll do what we can." *smiles*

1. What is your favorite word?

Hmm...The first word that comes to mind is glubs, Mary’s word for gloves. She’s three now and we were outside the other day and she said, “It’s cold. I weally need my glubs.” Now we all call gloves glubs. Makes me smile every time I hear it.

2. What is your least favorite word?

Vomit. Or more like the phrase, “I just threw up”. I cringe and thank God for my wife who handles things like that way better than I do.

3. What turns you on?

That’s easy. Abby. Everything about her turns me on. Dressed up and in heels, that’s killer. But a t-shirt and sweats does it for me too. Hair down, I run my fingers through it. Hair up, I kiss her neck. Hearing her laugh, seeing her smile, watching her...um...Sorry. *smiles embarrassed and runs a hand through his hair* Your fault for leading my mind there. Next question.

4. What turns you off?

Black licorice, black jelly beans. Always has. My brothers used to put all of theirs in my Easter basket. They paid dearly for that.

5. What sound do you love?

Favorite sound...I guess it'd be the combination of sounds when we're all out in the backyard and everyone's happy. Abby and I were just talking about this the other day, how much we love that sound. *wide smile* Even if it only lasts a minute without anyone needing a bandaid or fighting over a swing, it’s a beautiful sound.

6. What sound do you hate?

The alarm clock. Every damn morning. I still wake up around four, a habit from the military, but the alarm says time to get up. Time to leave Abby all warm and wrapped up beside me. Or okay...yeah. *sheepish grin* Maybe she's not always asleep.

7. What is your favorite curse word?

Fuck. It works. And when I’m alone I tend to let an entire string fly, get it all out. It’s obviously a no-go at home.

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

*thinks for a second, shakes his head slowly* Sorry. I got nothing. I honestly can't think of a single thing I’d rather be doing. Every house I flip is something new and different. Abby helps me with the details, like what tile goes with what granite, and all that. I'm home in the morning to help get the kids ready for school. I'm here at night for homework, bath, and bed, which can turn into a full scale assault. I honestly don't think my life could be any better.

9. What profession would you not like to do?

*shrugs* Anything that's not this.

10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
I hope he’d say, false alarm. Like, Hey, Matt. Just checking in, you can go back now. Because the thought of leaving my family is... It's just not something I ever want to think about.

Kimmy's Book Boyfriend List - Part 2

Of course I love all my book boyfriends equally. Kind of. Okay, maybe not, but I do love them all. These are the guys that make me audibly sigh when I think about them. And if you are reading this, you probably know exactly what I am talking about.

These guys may not always make the best choices and I may have wanted to give them a good Gibbs smack, but I still love 'em. Not sure what I mean by a Gibbs smack? Here you go:

Haven't we all wanted to do that? Trust me...it comes in handy when discussing characters with your fellow book lovers.

Now keep in mind...this is only part of the list. It was getting so long that I knew I would never get around to posting the darn thing, so I'm breaking it up. 5 delicious men at a time. And in no particular order.

6. Matt

Matt fell in love with Abby and her children pretty much the moment he met them. And then I fell in love with him.

So, you’ve known her what, two or three weeks, and you’re that sure?”
Matt nodded into the dark. “She’s…” He shook his head. How did you put into words the moment you found your heart? Like he’d always known her and at the same time been waiting for her his entire life. Laughing green eyes, heart-stopping smile. Sings the wrong words to almost every song. And so very scared of letting anyone close.
He hadn’t meant for it to happen. Couldn’t have predicted Jack hitting him in the back with that ball. After that, it hadn’t mattered. “She’s everything.”

7. Austin

Austin is described as “the Italian bad boy of UA: six-foot-four, beautifully olive skin, piercings galore, black ear gauges, neck-to-toe tattoos, dark hair and the darkest of brown eyes.” He is not your typical book hero, which is why I think I loved him so much. This book is one of the more emotional ones I have read and I cried buckets while reading it.

“I need you so much that I can’t breathe. Everything is wrong without you in my life. Talk to me. Come back to me. Fight the voice, for me. I will not say my good-byes to you too.
It’s funny. I used to look up at the stars and feel so small and unimportant. But I’ve come to realize that the only thing that can ever make you feel alive and important is the one person who takes you for you.
You once said that you wondered if the stars were looking down on us. Did they pity mankind for the fuck-ups we are? But now I see the truth. I now pity the stars. For as much as humans mess up time and time again, we also get to fall in love. We get to be with the other half of our soul, the one that makes us complete. All the stars get to do is watch from above, wishing it was them feeling this crushing yet liberating emotion.

8. Jason

Jason Hart is a football player with a heart of gold. From the very beginning of the book you know that he is a as humble as they come. How can you not love that?

“What do you see?” I asked her.

“Um . . . I see a really sexy man,” she said, looking back in my eyes.

“Uh huh . . . but what about me is sexy?” I asked, trying to make a point.

“Your arms really turn me on,” she admitted. “And your shoulders. And probably your back even though I haven’t seen it yet.”

I smiled at that. “But do you see any washboard abs like those male models have?”

She looked at my stomach but didn’t say anything.

“Do you see that ‘V’ that women talk about? You know . . . the one on a guy’s hips that supposedly point to the goods?”

She cracked a smile but didn’t say anything.

“I don’t have any of that. My body isn’t made that way. I work out every single day and I’m probably stronger than most of the guys in those pictures. But my body isn’t built to look like that,” I said. “I’m more like . . . a square. Like Spongebob Squarepants.”

9. Garrett

This is another book that isn't even out yet, but I loved Garrett so much I had to add him to the list. He starts dating Olivia and is immediately thrown into a situation that would have most men running for the hills, but he sticks around and won my heart in the process.

Garrett stares at me intently. “Olivia . . . I think we tear it up nicely between the sheets, and yeah . . . I think this started out as just a quick fling. But for some fucking reason, I can’t seem to stay away from you, and apparently it doesn’t matter if you’re riding my cock or throwing up in a toilet . . . I just want to be around you and get to know you better. So, yeah . . . I’d like to keep seeing you.”
“I don’t want this to be an obligation—”
“Just shut the fuck up, Olivia,” he says in exasperation as he stands up from the chair and walks to the edge of the bed. “I don’t do obligation. I live for what I want, and right now . . . I want you. So don’t ever let me hear you say that. I have enough people doubting my abilities, I don’t need it from you. Now move your ass over and let me lie down next to you.”

10. Reed

In this book Reed gets a second chance at love with Arianna, the one that got away. From the moment he is reunited with her he knows that he cannot let her get away again and does everything he can to convince her that they belong together. He is sweet, loving and pretty much the perfect guy.

"There are no words right now to tell you how I feel. If I say I love you, it doesn’t seem like enough.” He lays me down and holds my stare as he undoes the buckle on the sandals still on my feet and places them on the ground next to us. “Tonight starts our future, Ari. No more questioning my intentions, no more hiding behind our pasts. There is no more separation. You are the only woman in the world for me—you always have been. Please tell me you understand what I’m saying.”

My Review

WOW. I stumbled upon this book in a FB group and the blurb caught my attention. The story line was different from the other books I have been reading so I decided to give it a chance. And I am glad that I did! Matt was just the swooniest. There is nothing sexier than a nice, good looking guy who loves kids. From the first moment he meets Abby and her FOUR kids, Matt falls for them.

I’ve read some reviews where people were put off by how much time Matt spent with the kids or how there were too many pages committed to the kids, but for me that is what made me love this book. Matt’s interactions with them and how quickly he grew to love them and they him, just made my heart melt.

Having said that….I was not a fan of some the choices Matt made regarding his career and I found myself rolling my eyes at some of Abby’s insecurities, but part of me couldn’t really blame her. I was also not fan of the way Matt’s mother treated Abby initially, but I am glad that she came around.

And speaking of Matt’s family, I can’t wait to learn more about his brother Stephen. His name is brought up a few times and it is mentioned that he is going through “his own hello” and there was nothing any of them could do. INTEREST PIQUED!
