RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: One Hot Italian Summer by Karina Halle

A writer looking for inspiration in Tuscany.

One hot Italian single dad.

This summer is going to be a scorcher.

One Hot Italian Summer by New York Times, Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Karina Halle is now live!

After the death of her best friend and writing partner, Grace Harper is struggling both with grief, and with her next novel, the first one she’ll have to write alone.

Fortunately, her new powerhouse agent, the formidable Jana Lee, has a solution for her. She can stay at her villa in Tuscany for a month, soak in the sunshine, relax, and find her confidence again. After all, Jana has a lot riding on Grace’s next book, and the last thing she wants is for her reputation as a “super-agent” to be tarnished.

At first the villa is a dream come true for Grace – that is until Claudio Romano shows up one day with his ten-year old son, Vanni, in tow. Turns out, this is Claudio’s house, and Claudio happens to be her agent’s ex-husband from long ago. Thanks to their annual father and son bonding trip being cancelled, Claudio and Vanni are here to stay.

So is Grace.

With the three of them sharing the same house, Grace’s writing plans are thrown out the window. But even if she’s not pounding the keyboard, she’s still finding beauty and inspiration... in none other than Claudio. He's unlike any man Grace has met before. He’s smart, charming, and wickedly sexy, plus a great father to Vanni. He’d be the perfect summer fling – if only he wasn’t completely off-limits.

But as the hot Italian summer wears on, Grace and Claudio are destined to succumb to the heat, no matter how hard they try to resist each other. One steamy encounter with Claudio could affect Grace’s chances of starting her career over.

Or he could be exactly what she needs.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Grace needs to finish her book. Well, actually she needs to start her book. She's been in a funk since her writing partner passed and she doesn't know how to overcome it. Her agent has an idea and that's how Grace finds herself in Italy, getting caught skinny dipping in a pool by a very handsome Italian man and his son.

There was so much about this story that I loved. Grace was looking for some inspiration and she not only found it from the country itself, but also the from the people. Her relationship with Claudio was unexpected, but it turned out it was just what she needed. It starts off as a friendship, but they find themselves drawn to each other. Claudio, being an artist like Grace, understands her like no one else ever has and the two of them become each other's muses. I also loved Claudio's son Vanni. He was funny and very precocious at times. He immediately took a liking to Grace and had no problem welcoming her into his home.

Recently, there was a discussion about how some authors love to throw in unnecessary drama  towards the end of a book and in this book there is also no unnecessary drama. Sure, there is some conflict, but if you are looking for a drama free book, this checks all the boxes.

By the time I finished this book, all I wanted to do was go to Italy, drink wine, eat food and meet a gorgeous Italian man to fall in love with. Easy enough, right? If you're looking to escape the real world, this is the perfect book for you. Go 1-click today!

Two years after the man she loved was killed in Afghanistan, Morgan Bartley is trying to put the pieces of her life back together. But when his recently engaged brother begs him to participate in The Wedding Game, Alec grudgingly picks up a glue gun and prepares for some family bonding.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

It's not that I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book. It was more like I wasn't sure I would want to read a book about a bunch of rich kids partying. But this book is so much more than that. (You'd think I would know better by now. Staci always knocks it out of the park.)

I loved Levi and Stella! Their relationship may start under false pretenses, but it quickly develops into something neither or them was expecting. They had wonderful chemistry and I found crossing my fingers because I really wanted everything to work out for them. Stella might a rich kid, but she is very down to earth and can get a long with pretty much anyone. And while Levi's upbringing was the exact opposite of Stella's and the rest of the Bright Young Things, he managed to fit right in with everyone. The two of them together was perfect and gave me the warm and fuzzies.

I find the concept of Bright Young Things so interesting. Throwing anonymous parties in NYC sounds like a fun time and I was fascinated with how Stella did it. There is also a secondary story line that I am assuming will be present in future books and I am so intrigued by it. The core group of Bright Young Things are more like a family and they have each other's back. No matter what. We are introduced to some interesting characters in this book and I look forward to reading more about them!

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

RELEASE BLITZ & 4 STAR REVIEW: Nerdy Little Secret by Carrie Aarons

I’m sleeping with the nerd.
The nice guy.
The science geek who wears periodic table t-shirts around campus.

That’s my dirty little secret, but it began long before he unknowingly transferred to the same college I attend. We met at the summer camp I was mandated to work at, and our hush-hush affair started behind the kayak cabin and in the darkened canteen long after our respective campers went to sleep.

When Mick Barrett, rockstar name a complete red herring, enrolls at Salem Walsh University, we’re both shocked the first time we bump into each other. And he’s … surprisingly cold. With goals and secrets of his own, Mick is closed off and uninterested, something I’ve never encountered from the opposite sex.

My bruised ego has no time to recover, however, when he discovers the real secret I’m keeping, one that’s even more detrimental than our steamy summer fling. Agreeing to become my tutor, and help me save my future, the glasses-wearing swimmer, with the body of an Olympian under that punny math sweatshirt, begins to grow on me. Again.

Except we both have bigger things to focus on than sneaking around. Plus, we’re not made for each other. He’s aiming to be the next doctor of our generation, while I’m just hoping to survive my Saturday morning hangover.

Too bad our bodies, and hearts, start to believe otherwise.
Which has me questioning; can my dirty little secret become a happily ever after?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I love myself a cute nerd. And Mick is the definition of that. Jolie is a bit of a spoiled brat, but recent events have definitely knocked her down a few notches. After meeting each other at camp, where they are both counselors, they never expect to see each other again. So color them BOTH surprised that Mick is now attending the same school as Jolie. Well...kind of.

Mick was definitely the one that made this book for me. He's sweet and thoughtful and will help anyone who needs it. Jolie annoyed me at the beginning, but got better as the book went on. She cared too much about what her friends thought about Mick and she had to learn how to live her life for herself. I found myself annoyed at that, but then I remembered that this book was about college kids who probably did have a lot of growing up to do.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. It's a sweet story that is mostly lighthearted, but it does have a little drama thrown in. If you enjoy NA, then this could be the book for you!

BLOG TOUR & REVIEW: Miller's Time (Southern Charmers #2) by Ahren Sanders

MILLER'S TIME (Southern Charmer #2) by Ahren Sanders

Release Date: June 29, 2020
Cover Design: Leticia Hasser @ RBA Designs
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Miller

I’ve been lucky all my life.
Until the night I meet Lily. One look at the unbelievably sexy woman was all it took.
For the first time ever, I let my guard down and gave over control.
My lifelong spell of luck ran out the morning I woke alone in a hotel room.
Six months later, I come face to face with the woman who vanished without a trace.
Only, this time, her name’s not Lily.
She says it’s all in the past.
I say she’s dead wrong.
I’m not backing down.
She fooled me once.
It won’t happen again. She’s mine.

Ashlyn

My world was defined by wealth and status.
It was perfect—until the carefully crafted web of lies was exposed.
The ugly truth was a shattering blow of deception.
Needing to reinvent myself, I ran, and ended up in the arms of a devastatingly handsome stranger.
Miller was the kind of man women dream about, which meant he was too good for me.
That’s why I walked away.
Little did I know that creating a new version of me would bring our lives crashing back together.
Miller Kendrick thinks I’m the woman he met that night.
He’s wrong.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I really liked Ashlyn and I loved that she was taking control of her life and starting over. I was intrigued as to WHY she was doing it and I liked how we were given bits and pieces throughout the book. By the time we had had the full story, I was in awe of her for taking control of her life.

I liked Miller, I really did, BUT I needed him to reel in his Alpha-ness multiple times throughout the book. And I needed Ashlyn to not give in so easily. ESPECIALLY since she was moving to this new chapter of her life where it was all about making better choices. Miller never did anything that put her in harm's way, but he took it upon himself to make some very important decisions for her. I know he was coming from a good place, but it still made me mad. There was even one instance where I wanted to punch in him the throat and say "NO! I DON'T CARE IF SHE IS YOUR WIFE, YOU DON'T DO THAT!"

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book. Maybe it's because I've been reading a lot of Cinnamon Rolls lately or maybe my tastes are changing, but I just found Miller a bit too much at times. I loved his family. And Ashlyn's. They are supportive and loving and at times, way too involved, but they couldn't have had better families. There were plenty of great moments between family and friends that added so much to the story.

I look forward to the next book and I'm guessing that it will be about one of Ashlyn's brothers, but I don't know for sure.  **fingers crossed**
