RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: Royal Creed (Broken Crown #1) by T.K. Leigh

Title: Royal Creed
Series: Broken Crown Trilogy #1
Author: T.K. Leigh
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Tropes: Bodyguard/Royal Romance
Release Date: February 21, 2023

His princess. Her secret. Their forbidden love.

All my life, every decision has been made for me. What to say. How to dress. And now, who I'm to marry. When you're second in line to the throne, it's just how things are. I've always gone along with it.

Until now.

I may not have a say in who I marry, but I refuse to let someone dictate who I give my v-card to.

So I offer it to the only man I trust not to go to the paparazzi.

Creed Lawson.
Body of an Adonis.
Strength of a warrior.
And my brother's best friend.

It was only supposed to be one night. To the outside world, I'm supposed to be in love with someone else. And Creed's about to be sworn in as a member of the Royal Guard.

That doesn't stop us from fantasizing about what could be. About ignoring our duty and following our hearts.

But when the consequences of our secret tryst become much more dangerous than either of us originally bargained for, can I find the courage to fight for what I want? Or will I always remain a pawn in the palace's deadly game?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I love a good forbidden romance, no matter what the "forbidden" reason is. In this case, Esme is royalty and Creed is not. Seems pretty simple...or is it?

Of course (of course!) things get complicated when Esme and Creed start their tryst. They do that thing where they promise to not fall in love with the other person, but any romance reader can tell you how that will turn out. I just loved them together. They were off the charts sexy and I could not get enough of them.

TK is the Queen of cliffhangers! She is just so good at not only leaving you wanting more, but also leaving you the feeling of "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?" As I was reading, I thought I knew where things were headed, but because TK is an evil genius, I definitely did not. I finished this book while I was on a very crowded subway train and the words "Holy. Fucking. Shit." came out of my mouth.

Now when does the next book come out?

RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: Hail Mary (Red Zone Rivals #4) by Kandi Steiner

Hail Mary by Kandi Steiner is now live!

Leo F*cking Hernandez.

North Boston University’s star running back, notorious bachelor, and number one on my people I would murder if I could get away with it list.

And now?

He’s my new roommate.

I used to think I loved him.

But that was before I hated him.

He doesn’t remember who I am, or how he made my life miserable for years. And before I unknowingly moved across the street from him, I couldn’t have cared less. I was living my life despite him and what happened that summer, chasing my dream of becoming a tattoo artist.

“The Pit,” as the university so gracefully nicknamed the house he lives in with three other football players, has served as nothing more than a pain in my ass and a constant reminder of the boy who broke my heart. Watching him parade his one-night-stands in and out of it never helped, either.

But with rent this cheap and so close to the tattoo shop, I’ve learned to ignore him — no matter how he’s tried to get under my skin.

At least, until this summer. Because when a water and mold disaster leaves me with no choice but to vacate my house, I have nowhere to go. And Leo Hernandez offers me a deal I can’t refuse.

Live at The Pit with him and the guys, free of charge, until my landlord fixes this mess.

Ignoring him was easy when I lived across the street, but in the same house, with him shirtless half the time and watching me with his cocky grin and searing gaze? It’s impossible.

Still, I have to try. I have to push him away, even when he makes it infuriatingly difficult to do so.

He’s broken my heart once.

I won't let him do it again.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Having read the previous book, I knew that Mary did not like Leo, but I was not prepared for why she didn't like him. I won't give anything away, but it was definitely something I was not expecting and I was delightfully surprised.

The book begins with the story of why Mary dislikes Leo. We get a glimpse into both of their pasts and the truth doesn't come out until about halfway through the book. I was on pins and needles waiting for the truth to come out and when it finally did....whew!! That part of the book is so angsty and beautiful and I actually cried while reading it. Leo is a guy who feels his feelings and when he's with the right people, he has no problem showing it. And Mary is one of those people.

I loved Mary and Leo so much!! I am such a sucker for the grumpy/sunshine trope. Especially when the sunshine is the male character. Leo had to work very hard to gain Mary's trust and once he had it, he had to work to keep it.

This is easily my favorite book that I have read this year and my favorite of the series. And I know it's only February, but I have a feeling this book will hold that title for the rest of the year.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Fumbled Past by Lauren Runow

FUMBLED PAST by Lauren Runow is LIVE!!!

Twenty years have passed, yet not one thing in my hometown has changed … even the man I left behind.

I was the girl no one could touch because they all feared my father. He was a legend, the head football coach who had created this town’s Friday night lights. Only two football players dared to win my heart—the boy next door and the new guy in town. I grew up on this football field and fell hard for these two men, who loved me just as much as the game.

When my dad died, decisions had to be made, and I chose the one who held my heart.

As I sit here in the stands, watching the one I didn’t choose fill my father’s role, I can’t help but remember our fumbled past. Wondering if I followed the right guy or what my life would have been like if I hadn’t.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

This book was so interesting. The story is told through Sadie's eyes and it goes back and forth between the past and the present. The past being Sadie's high school years and the present being 20 years later, with the majority of the story taking place in high school. So I guess this could be a warning for those of you who do not like YA/NA books.

I admit that it took me a bit to get into this one. I was a little put off by high school part of it (if I read young characters they are at least in college), but once I figured out what the author was doing, I was hooked. I could say more about that, but I don't want to give anything away. Let's just say there is a mystery throughout the book and the events of the book kept me guessing.

This book is a bit angsty and emotional and I really enjoyed it. The concept was different from most things that I read and that was not a bad thing. It's good to mix things now and again.

Lila James is my best friend's little sister and I've always looked out for her.
She's five years younger than me, and when she left for college, she was just a kid.
But now she's home for the summer—and she's definitely not a kid anymore.
She's beautiful and smart and everything I didn't know I needed.
Dark eyes. Long wavy hair. And legs that are meant to be wrapped around me.
I'm the guy who likes to have a good time.
Keep things light.
When her brother asks me to hire her at my restaurant, it's a no-brainer.
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for her.
Until she asks me for one more favor.
She wants me to be her first.
Take her V-card.
Go where no man has gone before.
Her words, not mine.
And damn if I don't want to go there more than I've ever wanted anything.
She's only here for the summer, and she says it will be our secret.
It's temporary.
We'll go back to being just friends at the end of summer.
She promises that she won't fall for me.
She knows better.
