RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Then You Saw Me by Carrie Aarons

Then You Saw Me by Carrie Aarons is live! You’re bound to binge this new adult read, and with college roommates, forced proximity and unrequited love, it’ll hit all the best tropes!

You know what’s guaranteed to send your heart into your throat? Opening the front door of your off-campus house to find the boy you had a crush on all through high school telling you he’s the new subletter.

Of course, he barely knew I existed back then, and still doesn’t even though we attend the same university. But in a house of six college kids, it should be easy to remain invisible while carrying a torch for him. After all, I’m skilled at being overlooked and playing second fiddle.

Except Austin Van Hewitt, my hometown’s golden boy, doesn’t get the memo. After we throw our first party of the year, I’m on his radar and somehow my lips miraculously end up on his. The budding romance is one I’ve always dreamt about. As he shows more and more interest, I push aside the plaguing insecurity of never being good enough.

But then a letter shows up in our mailbox. A time capsule I wrote to myself when I was fifteen. You know, the kind where a teacher sends it to you years later? Guess who opens it by mistake and reads all about how I plan on marrying him and having his babies one day? Did I mention I signed it using his last name?

Mortifying would be an understatement. After he starts pulling away, I’m once again the girl in the background hoping that someone will understand me enough to pay me all of their attention.

The old me, the one conditioned to settle for what she’s given, would back down. This time, though, if I want everything I almost held in my hands, I’ll have to speak up. I’ll have to admit exactly how I feel, fight for the love that was blossoming. And I’m not sure what’s scarier; voicing my inner thoughts or facing his ultimate rejection.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Taya has had a crush on Austin for a long time. They grew up in the same town and know all the same people, but they may as well have lived worlds apart. Austin was the older, popular boy from a well to do family and Taya was the quiet girl who was overlooked by everyone, including her family.

So when they find themselves sharing a house, Taya cannot believe her luck. She's convinced herself that she is over her crush, but of course she is not. The two form a friendship that is slowly turning into more, but then the letter shows up, which changes everything.

This is a very sweet NA. I loved Taya and Austin as a couple. She put him on this pedestal and while it's not that he didn't live up to it, Taya quickly learned that their lives were a lot more similar than she though. They were able to lean on each other during the hard times and that was nice to see. Austin was just an absolute sweetheart and I really liked him.

Can I just say that I love how well Carrie writes college age characters? They are doing college age things so that means they are making poor decisions and probably not handling things in the best manner, but if they did, I would think it a bit unrealistic. I mean, let's look at some of the side characters. We have a couple who are constantly fighting (and then making up), a guy who leaves to star on a reality show (I can't wait to learn more about him *fingers crossed*) and of course that guy's best friend, who is also madly in love with him. So yeah...lots of chaos, but these are college kids so I'm on board with it all!

Author Bio

Author of romance novels such as The Tenth Girl and Privileged, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the love stories of her imagination, and the athleisure dress code, much better.

When she isn't writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in Texas with her husband, daughter, son and Lab/Great Dane rescue.

BLURB

They called him the grave digger—the man who dug up the darkest secrets of a person's past.

Damian Blackstone didn’t care about my existence. He came into my world for one reason only. He came to find answers about his past.

He moved like the villain in my favorite fairytales. He wasn’t the one who received the happily ever afters; he was the one who destroyed them.

Which was why I couldn’t understand my step-father setting it up in his will for Damian and me to be married. If we didn’t wed, all of my family’s inheritance would be donated to charity.

I wasn’t certain I’d be able to live with a man like Damian, but make no mistake, he wasn’t the monster in this story. Damian danced with the darkness, but I submersed myself within it.

The longer he stuck around, the more complicated things became. Every family had its skeletons, and Damian came to dig up ours. When the truth came out, and the secrets were revealed, I was left wishing I’d never said, ‘I do.’

By that point, it was already too late.
I was tangoed in his darkness as he bathed within mine.
