Review Tour: The Wedding Deal (Heart in the Game #1) by Cindi Madsen

We're celebrating the release of The Wedding Deal by Cindi Madsen! One-Click your copy on all platforms today!

Title: The Wedding Deal
Author: Cindi Madsen
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Entangled Publishing, LLC (Amara)

Former quarterback Lance Quaid just inherited the most losing team in the NFL. He’s got only a few weeks until draft day to turn things around, and after firing more than half his staff, he can’t do it alone. Thankfully, his HR manager is more than capable, if only she’d stop focusing on “due diligence” and stop looking so sexy while she’s yelling at him.

Charlotte James has made a life out of following the rules. But nothing could have prepared her for Lance Quaid––he’s a human resources nightmare. The man is brash, has no filter, and, as her new boss, is constantly relying on her to cover his ass. Which is admittedly quite nice.

When Lance begs her to join him on a trip down the coast for his brother’s wedding so they can finalize details––on a strictly business basis––she agrees...after they fill out the necessary forms, of course. Away from the office, though, sparks start flying as the team starts coming together. But both of them know anything more than the weekend would be a colossally bad idea––after all, the extra paperwork would be a nightmare.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Charlotte is a rule follower. She likes rules. The rules keep her in check. In control. Lance likes to break the rules and he is currently out of his comfort zone. Sure he’s and ex football player, but now he’s the one in charge. Of everything. After making a few rash decisions, he finds himself basically rebuilding the whole team. He needs help and quickly discovers that Charlotte is the perfect person for the job.

Besides his football/owner career being a bit of a mess, so is Lances’s love life. Or at least that’s what his mother thinks. His brother is getting married and he doesn’t have a date, so that means his mother is in matchmaker mode. That is the last thing Lance wants and to avoid all forthcoming awkward situations, he proposes that Charlotte go to the wedding with him. She'll be his date, but she will also be there in a strictly business capacity. The two of the have a lot of work to do. She agrees, quite reluctantly, but they really do have a TON of work to do.

The relationship between them is a slow burn in the sense that even though they both wanted each other, Charlotte’s rules keep them apart. Mixing business with pleasure is not something that she is interested in doing, especially since he is the boss. But Lance sees that Charlotte is a very important part of the organization and he is determined that they can keep things professional, even while they indulge in the sexy times. And there were some really sexy, sexy times.

I read this while on vacation and it was the perfect book to read while I was relaxing. It's sweet, sexy, funny and overall a delightful read.

COVER REVEAL: Well Suited (Red Lipstick Coalition #4) by Staci Hart

Today is the day for the cover reveal of the fourth and final book in the Red Lipstick Coalition Series. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book, even if it means the end of an incredible series. Today I am excited to share with you the cover reveal for Well Suited, Katherine's story, coming May 2, 2019!

Chemistry is my love language.

I’ve always been able to separate feelings from chemosignals. A shot of dopamine, a dash of serotonin, and a sprinkle of oxytocin—and bam. You’re in love.

And when egg meets sperm, you’re pregnant.

I couldn’t even be surprised as I stared down at the little blue plus sign, because I knew exactly when and how, and with whom it happened.

When: approximately five weeks ago.
Who: one night stand.
How: prophylactic malfunction.

The upside? I don’t have to go looking for a suitable mate.

Genetically, he’s the cream of the crop. His musculature is a study in symmetry and strength, his height imposing and dominant. He is a man who thrives on control and command, a man who survives on intelligence and resourcefulness. A perfect male specimen.

And the whole package is wrapped up in a flawlessly tailored suit. I’m having this baby, and he insists we’re well-suited to have it together. And what’s worse? He wants more, in the way of love and marriage.

But love isn’t real. It’s just a product of chemistry.

And if he changes my mind about that, we’re both in trouble.

Add Well Suited to your Goodreads TBR today!

Need to catch up on the series? The first three books in the Red Lipstick Coalition are available now for purchase or for free in Kindle Unlimited!

COVER REVEAL: Eleanor & Grey by Brittainy C. Cherry

Eleanor & Grey, an all-new beautiful and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is coming April 8th and we have the gorgeous cover for you!

Cover Designer: Hang Le
Photographer: Rafa G Cátala

Greyson East left his mark on me.

As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near.

Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined.

I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man.

The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain.

When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only.

He made me promise not to try to get to know him, not to recall the memories I’d treasured all this time.

But, sometimes, I saw the boy I’d once known in his stormy eyes. I saw the Greyson who smiled and laughed, who had stolen a young girl’s heart, and there was no doubt in my mind that this boy was worth fighting for.

I was given a second chance with the one who’d left his mark on me. All I hoped was that somehow I’d leave a mark on his soul, too.

Title: Should've Been Us
Author: Jess Bryant
Publisher: Blue Lemon Press
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 20, 2019

Blurb

It’s a destination wedding, Fate, Texas style, and the thermostat isn’t the only thing about to hit its boiling point.

Lulu Nichols has lost the love of her life.

Her best friend, Derek, proposed to someone else. He’s marrying someone else. And oblivious to her feelings, he’s asked her to play best man at his wedding. She can’t say no, not without admitting her secret and ruining everything, so she pastes on a smile and heads to Mexico to watch the man of her dreams get his happily ever after, even if it isn’t with her.

Connor Shaw is finally ready to claim the love of his life.

He wants Lulu. He’s always wanted her. Even though she’s slightly crazy and seriously delusional about her relationship with Derek. Connor is the one that brings out her fire and matches it with his own. He’s the one that drives her just as crazy as she drives him and it’s way past time for her to admit that all their fighting is really just foreplay.

Together they’re like gasoline and a match; a powder keg destined to blow, but oh how satisfying an explosion it will be.

But is their spark the kind that burns fast and then out? Is the heat going to Lulu’s head or is there more to Connor than she’s ever realized? Could they possibly be meant for forever or are they destined to always be a should’ve been?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

What do you do when the person you are in love with is in love with someone else? In Lulu's case, you sit by and watch that person's love story unfold. You also agree to be the best woman in his wedding. In Connor's case you bide your time until it is the right moment to confess your true feelings. And if that happens to be at the wedding of the man Lulu is pining after, then so be it.

On the surface Connor and Lulu are like oil and water. They have known each other for years and all they have ever done is fight. Most of the time Lulu can't even stand to be around Connor, but she starts to realize that what she thought was him being annoying was just Connor trying to make Lulu see reason. For years she loved a man who didn't love her back and there was someone else right in front of her who was more than willing to be the man she needed. Once she started to realize that, this book got really interesting.

We need to talk about Connor for a second. Oh my god. I love me a good dirty talking/take charge man, especially when it's a surprise. The first time that side of him was unleashed, my interest in him was amplified and I needed more. Kind of like Lulu. Her stubborn side gave him more than one chance to take charge and after a few times it just became a part of their relationship. All the sexiness.

But Connor was also a giant sweetheart and he had these moments when he would express his feelings to Lulu that were just perfect. He always knew the right thing to say to her at the right time and if that's not something that people want in their life, then I don't know what is.

And I've said it before when reviewing a Jess Bryant book and I will say it again...good banter can be a form of foreplay and these two had it in spades. I should have known just from their back and forth that when they finally got together that it would be good, but it was way better than I thought it would be! Keep a fan handy. Just saying.

Excerpt

“You should probably slow down there, dollface.” A deep voice slid over her, down her spine and made her shudder. With revulsion, she told herself. It was definitely revulsion. “Wouldn’t want to get drunk and admit you’re in love with the groom, would ya?”

The taunt sent a red-hot surge of anger boiling beneath her skin, turning her cheeks pink and the ice in her veins to lava as she spun to face the man intruding on her pity party. She felt a little light headed when she noticed how close he was standing but she attributed that to the alcohol in her bloodstream. It only pissed her off more that it proved he was right. She needed to slow down on the drinks or risk making a scene before the bridal party even arrived.

God, she hated when he was right.

Connor Shaw was a stupid, know-it-all bastard. He always had some smartass remark for her. Always. He’d been Derek’s sidekick since the sandbox days but Lulu did not consider him a friend. He was more of a nuisance, an ache in her head that never quite went away. Case in point, he was here now, standing far too close to her, wearing some sort of cologne that invaded her personal space and made her stomach twist, and looking smug as hell because he knew, knew, that every woman in the room was looking at him now that he had her attention.

She hated him. Despised him even. But she couldn’t blame the women in the room for staring.

He looked like an angel, all golden and gorgeous and he had an obnoxious habit of always managing to stand directly in the path of the sun. Even now, in the low light of evening, a spotlight of glowing orange beamed through the windows above, highlighting his dark blonde hair and making it look as if he were wearing a halo. Sometimes it seemed like the sun literally revolved around him.

It was annoying as hell.

So was that knowing twinkle in his dazzling blue eyes. Because he wasn’t just ridiculously good looking, he also knew he was ridiculously good looking which made him just about the biggest kind of asshole on the planet in her estimation. He knew the effect he had on 99% of women and the fact that she fell into the 1% that didn’t go ga-ga over him seemed to give him some weird sort of enjoyment, which only made him more infuriating.

“I mean, unless that’s your plan.” He leaned an elbow against the bar beside her, edging even closer so that she had to force herself not to pull away, to put more space between them, because she knew he’d take her retreat as a win in their never-ending game of dare. “Liquid courage?”

“Go away, Shaw.”

His head tilted slightly as if he’d expected a different response, “Drowning your sorrows then? Have you finally admitted to yourself that you and Dare were never meant to be?”

Her jaw clenched because, as per usual, his assumption hit far too close to home. She attributed Connor knowing so much about her to the fact that they’d grown up together. He’d always been there, on the edges of her friendship with Derek, watching. Judging. He saw parts of her that she’d thought were well hidden from everyone, even Derek, especially Derek, but somehow Connor had seen her infatuation with their friend and he seemed to take absolute joy in calling her out on the stupidity of it.

“I said, go away.” She slipped her hand around the glass in front of her without looking at him but a big, warm, roughly masculine hand closed over hers, stopping her short.

Her breath caught at the contact and she silently cursed herself for the physical reaction. It had been too long since anyone touched her. Anyone. It didn’t have anything to do with this man no matter how gorgeous he was. It was the alcohol and the moroseness that had overtaken her at the thought of Derek getting married.

Derek. Married. To someone else.

Her blood chilled and she pulled her hand away from Connor, carefully, so as not to spill the liquid in her glass. She glared at him when he frowned and his eyebrows drew together. He was looking at her strangely, in a way she couldn’t place and she glanced away before he saw something else she didn’t want him to see.

“Just… slow down on the drinks, okay doll?”

“Don’t call me that.” She instantly flinched.

“Tell me you’ll slow down, at least until dinner is served and you put some food in your system and I won’t call you that again.” His blue eyes were serious and she felt something inside of her begin to splinter.

Was he actually trying to take care of her? This man that taunted her constantly? That set her every nerve ending on edge? Was he trying to make nice for once? Because he knew this must be hard on her?

She nodded, “Okay.”

He gave her a small, cautious smile, “Okay.”

“Okay.” She tipped her drink at him.

“Okay.” He said again and she rolled her eyes because she knew he’d do this all night if she let him get away with it.

“You can go now.” She shooed him away, “Go find someone else to play your mind games with, Shaw.”

“But playing with you is so much fun.”

She groaned, “If you stick around, I’m definitely going to need another drink.”

She thinks I hate her, that I don’t want her here. The truth is much more twisted. I get hard every time she walks into my office. Her wide blue eyes and pouty mouth drive me wild with desire, and if she stays, I’m not sure how much longer I can stay away from her.

5 Star Review: Heat Stroke (Beach Kingdom #2) by Tessa Bailey

Marcus “Diesel” O’Shaughnessy is a brash, oversized CrossFit enthusiast with a naked lady tattooed on his rippling forearm. Jamie Prince is a private school teacher with an extremely low tolerance for bullshit. The two men have zero in common. Well, except for three things.

They’re both moonlighting as lifeguards for the summer.
No matter how hard they try, they cannot stay away from each other.

And both of them have secrets they’re determined to keep.

But what happens in the shadows of the Long Beach boardwalk can only remain hidden for so long, before the July sunshine reveals the hot, unrelenting connection they never expected, forcing Marcus and Jamie to decide if they’re simply caught up in a temporary heat stroke or if they’ve found something worth rescuing...

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Marcus has a crush on Jamie. He's had a crush on him from pretty much the moment he met him. But he's confused. He's straight. Or at least he thinks he is. Jamie has always thought of Marcus as a pain in the butt. He likes to get in Jamie's way and always makes a point of making sure their lifeguard chairs are next to each other. But Jamie senses that Marcus is confused about his sexuality and thanks to a past incident, he is not about to help him figure things out. But Marcus is persistent and manages to wear Jamie down and the two end up spending some time together. And that is when everything changes.

Holy cow. Y'all, Marcus and Jamie are everything! These two couldn't be more different, but together they just work. You can't help but love Marcus. He sees the world in a very simple way and Jamie appreciates that. He probably thinks too much about everything and being around Marcus is just easy.

Their story is sweet, a whole lot of sexy and just plain adorable. The sexual tension was thick and there were a few moments that made me need a cold shower. Jamie is a take charge kind of guy and Marcus is more than willing to take part in that role play. I just loved them together!

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eleven years and six-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

4 Star Review: Waiting For You (McKinney/Walker #2) by Claudia Connor

When ER nurse Nora Sellers is hurt in a hospital scuffle, firefighter Zach Walker blames himself. Blaming himself is nothing new. He’s been blaming himself for years for the trauma his baby sister endured as a teenager. Though with his happy–go–lucky attitude no one would know it. He’s good at his job, he’s a good brother, and a good friend, but Zach decided long ago he wasn’t husband and father material.

Even so, when Zach learns Nora is a single mother with a house that needs his help, he can’t walk away. After a few days with Nora and her ten month old son, he knows he doesn’t want to.

But Nora’s wary. She learned at a young age that the only person she can count on is herself. Now with a baby, a job, and a fixer–upper house, the last thing Nora wants is a sexy firefighter, making her heart flutter. But Zach is more than what he seems, and the more she gets to know him the harder he is to resist.

She’s been brave all her life. Can she be brave one more time and take a chance of a lifetime with her heart?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Zach and Nora meet while they are both on the job. She gets injured and he blames himself, so he takes it upon himself to make sure she's okay. Nora is a single mom and is new town, so she doesn't really know anyone. When Zach realizes that she lives in a fixer upper he finds himself going around to her house and fixing things for her. He wants to help, but he also enjoys her company and loves her little boy. Before they know it, the two find themselves spending a lot of time together.

I loved Zach and Nora. Their relationship is a slow burn that had me sitting there thinking "OMG JUST DO IT ALREADY!" Nora is hesitant to put a label on things, but she finds herself attending family events and being accepted into the Walker/McKinney clan with open arms. But the two of them were so good together. Zach had no problem stepping in to help work on the house or take care of her son. Zach actually formed almost an instant bond with the little guy and it was so cute!

One of my favorite things about this book was when Nora was hanging out with the Walker/McKinney clan, especially Matt  & Abby. Those two will always be me favorite and it was great to see them again. We also got to meet Zach's brother Luke for the first time! He's finally home and we get his story next. I can't wait!

If you are a McKinney/Walker family fan, then this is definitely a must read!
