RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEWS: A Cowboy Never Quits (Turn Around Ranch #1) by Cindi Madsen

These hardworking cowboys give everyone a second chance...
When single mom Jessica Cook is at the end of her rope, she takes her 16-year-old daughter to Turn Around Ranch. The ranch has a great reputation for teen therapy, and Jessica prays there's room there for her and Chloe.

Wade Dawson's first priority is to keep the ranch afloat to help teens and their families. But he can't seem to keep his boundaries when it comes to Jessica—she's talked her way into a job on the ranch so she can stay near her daughter and her tenacity and courage are truly impressive. Not to mention she's a natural beauty and sparks fly whenever he's in her vicinity.

But as one crisis after another befalls the ranch, Wade is going to have to decide whether he can afford to let a woman get under his skin...

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

This book being described as "Gilmore Girls Meets Cowboys" is a perfect way to describe this book. Jessica and Chloe's life is similar in some ways to Lorelai and Rory, but it's the differences that bring them to Turn Around Ranch. Jessica is determined that her daughter not follow the same path that she took and she sees this ranch as her last resort. Jessica has to do some fast talking and takes a job she might not be qualified for, but she will do just about anything for her daughter.

This was such a sweet read. Wade is all about being the strict, somewhat grumpy cowboy, but he couldn't help but fall for Jessica. And of course once she gets past the grumpy version of Wade, Jessica is right there with him. There is even a nice storyline between Chloe and one of Wade's brothers which was a bit of a surprise, but totally welcome.

But for me, the real story in his book is the relationship between mother and daughter. Jessica and Chloe are very close and as I mentioned before, Jessica would do just about anything for her. While at the ranch, they both learned some life lessons and became even closer, which is saying a lot considering how close they were to being with. I enjoyed their witty banter, a la Lorelai and Rory, and I was definitely rooting for them to work things out.

The concept of family is something that is not only talked about in this book, but it is shown many times through the characters actions. I have no doubt that it is something that will keep showing up in subsequent books. I really look forward to reading the rest of this series.

RELEASE BLITZ & PROMO: The Setup by Rachel Van Dyken

The Setup, an all new contemporary romance by #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken, is LIVE!

The first day she was sitting by herself — I felt sorry for her. After all, it couldn't be easy wrangling all the testosterone at Wingman Inc as one of the only female office managers.

The second day she literally counted her carrots during break — she had seven by the way, right along with seven sips of her drink in between taking seven tiny little bites of the first carrot.

Now I'm not one to brag, or maybe I am, but math and science fascinate me, so do problems. And this woman screamed puzzle from the way she ducked her head every time anyone looked at her, to the way she counted food and tapped the table when she didn't think anyone was watching.

I'd like to think I took pity on her that day when, in fact, she was the one that took pity on me and asked if I needed a friend. She assumed I had a learning disability since I'd been staring so damn hard.

Things would have ended there, except, my bosses need someone to test the new Wingman App and since I was the only single guy on the floor — I was nominated, right along with the only single woman, the same one who thinks I need to use my fingers to count.

Apparently rumors of my sexcapades throughout college reached even her ears, because she wants nothing to do with me, which makes beta testing a bitch. I have thirty days to win her over and prove myself to my bosses.

One thing's for certain, I'm going to have to buy a hell of a lot of carrots.

RELEASE BLITZ & PROMO: Avoiding Temptation by Rachel Van Dyken

Avoiding Temptation, an all new contemporary romance in the Bro Code series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken, is LIVE!

I hit on her first.

Realized she was my best friend Finn's little sister second.

And got a bloody nose third — compliments of Finn after he watched me nearly score with the new underclassman.

After all I did have a reputation on campus, word on the street was that a girl could orgasm within one minute just watching me eat Lucky Charms.

You can't make this stuff up — even though it was at least four minutes and included outside circumstances. Ahem, I digress.

Point is, not only did I earn the attention of the worst sort of girl for me — my best friend's only sibling — but now she's out to seduce me.

Me! One of the most famous Pleasure Ponies of them all!

I can't shower — she follows me to the bathroom. Literally.

I can't sleep — Lucky me, she lives in the same dorm.

And I can't focus on anything except for her taunting eyes every single time something goes her way.

I want her, but I don't want her to know I want her, and I definitely don't want to die before graduation, which is looking more and more likely considering we can't keep our hands off each other.

Something's gotta give, and I have an inkling I should probably start writing my eulogy now because that something is probably going to be me.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Manhattan by Kandi Steiner

Manhattan, a standalone in the Becker Brothers series, a small town, country, friends-to-lovers romance, is LIVE!

The fire... the guitar... THE FEELS!

Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend.

But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.

He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar.

And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.

Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.

Until it was the worst.

I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.

One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.

One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.

And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Poor Michael. His girlfriend has up and left him and he is in a bad place. After dropping a giant bombshell on his family, he's determined to move on, but only by leaving the only place he has called home. To say that doesn't go over well is an understatement.

Unbeknownst to him, his best friend Kylie is determined to make Michael see what he has in front of him. Including herself. Kylie and Michael share a bond that was formed when they were just little kids. And despite the fact that the two grew apart, thanks to the ex-girlfriend, she knows that she can make him see things her way.

I loved these two so much! As a couple, but also as friends. In my mind, their friendship was the thing that mattered the most in this story. I love a relationship that is based on a solid friendship and that was what they had. It just needed a little repair and some adventure to bring it back.

This is such a sweet story. There's plenty of love going around the the Becker family and it was Michael's turn to feel it. His and Kylie's relationship was years in the making and when it finally came to fruition it was wonderful. It's an emotional journey with a few laughs thrown in and plenty of swooniness to go around.

It's also filled with lots of Becker brother goodness. I'm looking forward to reading the last book in this series. We get a little peak into Jordan's story and I think he may be the one to finally unravel the mystery that the Becker brothers have been trying to solve. I can't wait!

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Seducing Mrs. Robinson by Rachel Van Dyken

Seducing Mrs. Robinson, an all new contemporary romance by #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken, is LIVE!

We've all been there, some more than others, you know what I'm talking about, where you have the hots for the new business teacher.

I was one hundred percent that guy. I shamelessly flirted with her my senior year, only earning her irritation more and more. On graduation, I stood up to her husband after he got violent, and I'll never forget the look in her eyes when she told me it wasn't my place.

Fast forward to my senior year of college and what do you know, the new adjunct professor is the one and only Mrs. Robinson, she's eight years older than me and smoking hot. Did I mention divorced?

She looks at me like I'm trouble, and I'm only happy to deliver on that promise. I'm going to show her how a real man treats a woman and use every weapon in my Pleasure Pony arsenal to do it.

Go big or go home.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I had a hard time getting into this book at first. It absolutely had to do with the timing of when I got this ARC and things going on in Romancelandia. I was in a very weird headspace when I started reading it and I had to put the book down after a couple chapters. I even had a moment of "I'm not sure if I want to keep reading this book", but after a day or so, I picked it back up and started reading. And I couldn't stop.

I really like Kora. She was not only trying to break free from her abusive (almost) ex-husband, but she was trying to find herself again. And that is what leads her to Wingmen Inc. And Leo. She never expected to be his teacher again and she really never thought that he would be the reason she would find her true self and get her happily ever after.

Leo was a big sweetheart. To say he is charming is an understatement. He could come off as conceited, but underneath it all he's a big softie. I did feel he was a tad immature and a bit over the top at times, but that was his personality. He was this larger than life, but very down to earth guy who you couldn't help but love.

I'm so happy that more authors are writing older woman/younger man stories! This is my second one this month and I'm ready for more!

Bourbon.
American Whiskey.

When the Barrel House heiress, Melody Quinn, comes face-to-face with single-dad, Brett Pearson, she finds the ex-Marine strikingly attractive, yet all too familiar for her liking, and she can’t figure out why.

Wherever Melody goes, Brett is there, and after each encounter, she starts to remember where she knows him from. The problem is, she can’t get rid of him because he’s now working in The Barrel House, the one place that is supposed to be hers and hers alone.

Brett loves the art of making bourbon, and nothing pleases him more than watching a customer take their first sip. When he goes to work at The Barrel House, he should be pleased, except he’s forced to work with Melody, who doesn’t know neat from on the rocks, and doesn’t understand why there’s corn everywhere.

Bourbon is spilled, drinks are shared, and passion is reignited between these star-crossed lovers.

Goodreads

EXCERPT

How can Dad be thinking about so much when he doesn’t know if there will be a tomorrow? I can’t believe he already hired someone to run the business. I can’t pretend like I ever had intentions of taking over the shop, even knowing Dad wouldn’t be able to run it forever, but the thought hadn’t crossed my mind because Dad is supposed to live well past his retirement age. Nothing has gone as I have planned since I graduated college, and while I have traveled along with the bumps in the road, everything feels like it’s crashing down on me now.

Maybe I have no business being in The Barrel House, pretending like I know everything there is to know about running a bourbon distillery.

“Melody!” It’s Brett. He’s calling after me. Doesn’t he know when a woman runs out a door, it’s probably best not to follow her?

I turn back toward the firehouse, watching him walk toward me. My instinct forces me to take a step back, which causes me to trip off the curb. I catch myself on a car, thankfully, but the car’s alarm beeps at me just to add an extra dose of humiliation to this moment.

My heart is in my throat, or maybe it’s my stomach. My head is spinning and ... why did he have to come after me?

“I need to get back home. I should be with my dad,” I tell him, looking both ways to make sure I don’t get creamed by a car on top of it all. The coast is clear and I cross the street, finding my way to Mom’s car.

“Wait up for a second,” Brett continues, following me across the street. He places his hand on the door, preventing me from opening it and jumping inside. “Your dad wanted a bottle,” he says, handing me the bottle of Red Apple that Dad did, in fact, request.

“How did you—”

“He called to warn me that you were on your way down, flustered, upset, trying to be a hero, and you’d most likely forget that he requested a bottle of Red Apple.” Brett laughs sweetly, smiling benevolently. “I’m not trying to take over your family business, despite what you might be thinking. My dad has been a barrel supplier for your dad since before either of us were born. I was just asked to come help you guys out.”

“I know.” In truth, I don’t understand much of anything now. I’ve been going a mile a minute since I got that letter yesterday. I’ve been awake since five this morning, and I’m exhausted. “Thank you for coming to help,” I offer sincerely, wishing he would move his hand from my door.

“I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.” The look in Brett’s eyes triggers more pain in my stomach. I’m losing my dad.

“I don’t know what else to do right now other than help him, and being in his shop feels like the only way I can help,” I explain.

The backs of my eyes burn. I’m supposed to be the strong one, but I’m falling apart. I stare up to the sky, waning away the threatening tears. Keep it together, Melody. My body doesn’t respond to my command. Tears trickle, one by one and I gasp for air as my lungs feel like they are deflating. I place my hands over my face, embarrassed to be crying in front of Brett Pearson of all people, but the pain has been building, and though I let a few tears escape this morning at the airport, it clearly wasn’t enough. “I’m sorry,” I mutter.

Arms envelop me and my head falls against his firm chest. His embrace is tight and though I don’t know the adult version of Brett well enough to feel comfort from a hug, the squeeze is alleviating some of the pressure in my chest.

The rate of my breaths slow and I’m able to stop the tears from falling. Brett must notice that I’ve calmed down because his arms release from around me and he takes a step back. I don’t know what else to say or do aside from searching his worry-filled eyes as if I’d find the answer there.

He presses the pad of his thumb beneath my eye and sweeps away a remaining tear. “Take some time to process it all,” Brett says, sounding wise beyond his years. “I don’t know how long you’ve known about your Dad becoming sick again, but I doubt there’s any length of time that’s long enough to accept or adjust to that kind of news.”

“I’m going to—” I point to the car.

Brett backs away, slipping his hands into his back pockets. I close myself into the car, rest my head back, and close my eyes for a minute before starting the engine.

A knock on the window startles my eyes to reopen. Brett is standing outside of the car holding up the bottle of Red Apple. I roll the window down and retrieve the bottle. “Thank you,” I tell him. “For everything.”

The Younger Man, an epic standalone forbidden age-gap sports romance, by New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle, is LIVE!

Starting over was her only option.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I am big football fan. I watch MLS. On weekend mornings you can find me watching Premier league games. If there is a tournament on, I will watch. Men's World Cup. Women's World Cup. UEFA Champions League. I. LOVE. IT. So when Karina originally announced this book, I got extremely excited. It sounded like the perfect book for me. And you know what? It was.

Thalia taking the job at Real Madrid was all about starting over. She needed to get away from her life in Manchester and taking a job in a whole other country seemed like the perfect way to do that. Of course, meeting Alejo was something she never expected to happen, but it sure did make for a phenomenal story.

It didn't take Alejo or Thalia long to realize that what they had was special. From the first moment they met, they felt a connection that they were unable to ignore. They connected on a deeper level that took them both by surprise. I mean, what could a 40 year old woman and a 24 year old have in common? A lot, actually.

Alejo might be the perfect book boyfriend. Yes, he was much younger than Thalia, but he seemed much older and wiser than his 24 years. He was charming, funny and romance just oozed out of his pores. Thalia put up a good fight, but she couldn't resist him Alejo. And I don't blame her one bit.

OMG y'all. I don't think I can put into words how I feel about this story. I loved everything about it. This book is definitely one of the best I've read this year. The location, the football scenes, the characters, the forbidden aspect of Thalia and Alejo's relationship, the friendships (well, most of them) and the idea that the team was not just a team, but a family, made for a wonderful story. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me feel like my heart was going to burst with happiness. I felt all the emotions and I didn't want it to end. This will definitely be one of the books that I will be reading over and over again for years to come.

No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
