Author Bio:

My name is ME Carter and I have no idea how I ended writing books. I'm more of a story teller (the more exaggerated the better) and I happen to know people who helped me get those stories on paper.

I love reading (read almost 300 books last year), hate working out (but I do it anyway because my trainer makes me), love food (but hate what it does to my butt) and love traveling to non-touristy places most people never see.

I live in Houston with my four kids, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who was just a twinkle in my eye when I came up with my pen name. Yeah, I'll probably have to pay for his therapy someday for being left out.

COVER REVEAL: The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend's Sister by Meghan Quinn

How do you date your best friend's sister? Easy.

Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.

Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend's sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.

Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?

It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.

At least--that's what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She's smart--really smart--and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I've tried slinging her way. She's not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she's not giving in that easy...

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Remember the girl who helped save Harmony's life? This is her story. From the moment Cobi sees Hadley, he is taken with her. He NEEDS to know she is okay after everything she went through and that results in him showing up while she is still in the hospital and then at her house. He makes is very clear that he is not going away. Hadley can't figure out what Cobi sees in her, but it isn't long before she doesn't want him to leave. She might be fiercely independent, but there is just something about those Mayson men!

Going in, I essentially knew what I was going to get with this story, but that didn't matter. Cobi was a giant sweetheart, who just like his family members before him, found his "boom" and he wasn't about to let her go. He was a tad overbearing (sound familiar?), but also very sweet and a lot sexy.

I just love this family! Of course throughout the course of the book we get to see the rest of the Mayson clan, which is something that I always enjoy. As always, the author teases us a little with the next story and I look forward to reading it!

EXCERPT

“Good morning, darlin’. Could I interest you in some breakfast sausage?”

The woman turned, her long, dark curls swinging around her shoulders. A look of disgust quickly washed over her face as her eyes locked on my bulge.

“Ay dios mio, you’ve got to be f#cking kidding me,” she muttered, immediately taking her briefcase from the counter and marching to the front door, her red-bottomed heels clacking loudly on the hardwood.

“What’s the matter?” I asked, stumbling after her.

“Last time I do a favor for a friend,” she said under her breath, slamming the front door shut behind her.

Favor. Friend. Beautiful woman in a pencil skirt. Charlotte’s hotshot lawyer friend from Los Angeles.

Oh f#ck.

“Hey, uh, Valencia, wait up!”

I burst through the door to find her paused on the top step of the porch. She turned sharply to look me dead on, the fire in her eyes enough to burn me straight through.

“It’s Valentina,” she spat, crossing her arms and cocking her hip to the side.

“Valentina, right. My mistake. Listen, I’m really sorry about all this. We were out late last night for—”

“For the opening, I know. I was supposed to be there, but something came up at work. So instead, I got my ass onto a last-minute redeye to make it in time for our meeting this morning, but clearly you had other things in mind,” she said, her eyes flitting to my quickly-softening cock before turning again to leave.

“No, please, don’t go. This is completely unprofessional, I know—”

“That’s the understatement of the century.”

“But I promise, if you give me a chance, we can turn this meeting around.”

“Is it still a meeting when one person shows up with his dick out?”

“Oh, trust me, sweetheart, if my dick was out, you’d know it.”

“Sure, as long as I brought a magnifying glass with me.”

I paused, standing up a little straighter. She squared her shoulders, and our eyes locked, the tension between us thick enough to cut with a knife.

If we were going to make this work, I knew I had to be the one to budge. But dammit if this woman didn’t make me want to blow my lid.

“Look, I’m sorry. Please stay. If not for me, then for Luke and Charlotte.”

Valentina sighed and put a hand on her hip.

“Fine. Put some goddamn pants on first, and then we’ll talk.”

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Gah! The prologue of this book killed me! Alex and Helen are about to kiss. He's five years older than her and although their parents are best friends, kissing is the last thing they should be doing. The tension between them is crazy thick and just as it is about to happen, they get interrupted. Next thing you know, it's twelve years later and they haven't seen each other since the almost kiss and the hate they have for each is the real thing. EXCUSE ME?!?!

Alex and Helen's reunion is completely unexpected and it throws them both for a loop. Alex has no idea what Helen has been up to the last twelve years and Helen is mad that he never reached out during their separation. There is so much baggage between them and even though Alex claims he hates Helen, he can't help but want to help her. He is definitely one of those "act before you think" people and most of the time it works out for him. There were moments when I actually thought that it wouldn't when it came to Helen and that intrigued me. It took me a while to warm up to Alex, but by the end I really liked him.

Helen has been on her own for a long time and she is finally in a self sufficient place, but then her ex shows up and ruins everything. When Alex offers her a job and a salary she'd be stupid not to take, they find themselves having to face their past and make a decision on whether they can move forward.

This is a great addition to the series. We don't get too much of the Panic crew in this one, but we do get a little of them in the beginning. But I look forward to seeing who we get next!

BLOG TOUR & 4 STAR REVIEW: You're the One I Don't Want by Carrie Aarons

Today we are celebrating the release of the newest standalone title from Carrie Aarons. YOU'RE THE ONE I DON'T WANT is now live and available to read for FREE in KindleUnlimited. You will not want to miss this second-chance romance. Be sure to follow Carrie for exclusive updates about her releases.

Love is weakness.

Which is why Annabelle Mills vowed a long time ago to never let it destruct her. A former pageant queen with a bite equally as lethal as her bark, she’s interning at her dream job on the set of the highest-rated home design show on television. Everything in Annabelle’s life, though it may be cold and isolated, is going exactly as she always planned.

Until her ex-high school sweetheart moves to town. The same boy that she cheated on, once upon a time, essentially breaking both of their hearts. But no one knows the full story, and being vulnerable enough to open up about it is not on Annabelle’s checklist.

Hate is fuel.

The kind that courses through Boone Graham’s veins and allows him to shut out everyone around him. As the hottest rookie on Austin’s professional baseball team, he should be spending his days hitting homeruns and signing jerseys. Except he’s seen dreams ripped right out from under those closest to him, leaving them with nothing.

Without a college degree, he’ll never take the risk of pursuing his real dream. But when he runs into the girl who took a mallet to his heart and stopped it beating, attending the same university might just be the biggest challenge he’s faced yet.

As the semester unfolds, the line between love and hate is blurred. And with the amount of baggage stacked between them, together is the last thing they want to be.

That’s the thing about hearts, though. They develop plans all on their own.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Ah young love. It's messy and emotional. And someone almost always ends up with a broken heart. In this case it was two people with broken hearts. Both Annabelle and Boone had a lot going on when they were teenagers. Neither of them talked about their feelings or their homelives and Annabelle makes a decision that breaks them apart.

Now it is a few years later and they are both still in college, but Annabelle is a reality tv/home improvement star and Boone is a successful baseball player who is really close to making it to the majors. They literally run into each other one day and two things are made very clear. The first thing is that they don't want anything to do with the other person and the second thing is that they both still have feelings for the other person. After a few more run-ins, they decide to be friends and their relationship grows from there.

I love a good second chance romance. Annabelle and Boone are different than they were in high school. Once they decide to give the other person a chance, they get to know each other again and discover the reasons they were together all those years ago. I admit that I liked Boone way more than I liked Annabelle, but I also have a thing for kindhearted, sweet, sexy baseball players.

This book is part of the Tenth Girl series, but can read as a standalone. We do get a little bit of the main characters from the first book so you may want to read that one first, but it's not required.

EXCERPT

It takes a while for Boone to join us at the player’s exit, but when I see him, all dark and quiet confidence, my stomach dips and my heart beats twice as fast. This man affects me physically, he rearranges the way my body is supposed to function. The way I feel about him is molecular.

“Hey, you.” He bends down to lay a gentle kiss on my lips, right there in front of everyone.

It takes me right back to that little girl, swooning over the tall, handsome senior.

“Who wants pizza?” Harper rubs her stomach.

Cain slings his arm around her shoulder. “Her love of food, it’s why I love her.”

Twenty minutes later, we pack into a corner booth at Salvatore’s, the local pizza joint. It’s a madhouse, with students and families everywhere, and we’re lucky that we’re with Boone and Cain, because a couple of people applaud loudly as we walk in and we’re ushered to a semi-quiet area like we’re VIPs or something.

Hell, I must be chopped liver because no one ever applauds when I walk into a restaurant, and I’m on television more than either of these two. I’d like to just say, men, and then mentally roll my eyes.

The waiter comes to take our order, and Cain asks for a round of beers.

“That’s okay, I don’t drink, water is fine with me.” Boone waves the waiter off.

“You don’t?” My eyebrows furrow in confusion.

“No, I haven’t had a drink since I was seventeen. Which seems ironic, if you think about it. I quit alcohol before I could even legally have it.” He chuckles.

Harper and Cain take this moment to talk to friends of Cain’s over the back of the booth.

I lean into Boone. “But what about that night in your car? You were drunk.” I am so confused.

“No I wasn’t. You were really drunk. I was just horny.” Boone’s teeth catch his bottom lip and I am momentarily distracted.

Which means that he’d slept with me of his own accord. Not that it hadn’t been consensual on my part, but I don’t think I would have had the courage to have sex with Boone if there weren’t shots of tequila involved.

“Wait, so why did you stop drinking?” And now alarm bells are going off in my head.

I immensely respect those who have recovered from an addiction. But … to bring that into a new relationship was difficult. I wouldn’t know how to act if I wanted a glass of wine, I didn’t know his triggers or whether or not it was still a struggle for him to be around any type of partying.

Boone touches my cheek, and it is like we are the only two people in this entire restaurant. “Relax, Anna. It wasn’t because I couldn’t handle myself. I just …” He sighs now, and I know he is weighing whether or not to tell me the real answer. “My dad is basically a drunk, and watching him, I didn’t want to end up that way. So, I just stopped.”

A lump forms in my throat. “I … I had no idea.”

Because I really hadn’t. Up until this moment, I’d been so consumed with my own baggage and ugly parental situation that I hadn’t realized that the man I’ve been getting close to was sitting in the exact same boat as me. I look at Boone with fresh eyes; maybe this was why we’d come back together after all these years. Maybe deep down, each of us had identified with the pain in the other. Maybe, we share the same insecurities and can heal that in each other.

My pessimistic heart could hope.

“And now you do.” He kisses my cheek and picks up a menu, which signals that he doesn’t want to discuss it further. At least not here.

“All right, one pepperoni, one sausage, one meat lover’s supreme and one buffalo chicken?” Harper slams her menu down on the table.

“You’d think she was a Texas girl and not a transplant with all the meat she eats.” I grin at my stepsister.

“You’re just annoyed because I won’t let you order a veggie pizza. Veggies on pizza defeats the entire point,” Harper whines.

I snuggle into Boone, happy to have a night off with him, and warmed at the thought that he just shared something with me that he definitely withheld from most.

“As if you’re going to stop me from doing anything I want to do.” I smirk.

Boone laughs at this, setting his water down after taking a sip. “Big mistake, Harper. Never tell this one what she can and can’t do. She’ll do the opposite and then convince you you’re the one who made the decision in the first place.”

Well, he wasn’t wrong about that.
