BLOG TOUR & REVIEW: This Time Tomorrow (Phenomenal Fate #2) by Tessa Bailey

This Time Tomorrow, an all-new enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance with all the steam by New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey is available now!

Roksana, heiress to the vampire slayer throne, has performance anxiety.

She’s supposed to kill Elias, but so far she’s only succeeded in maxing out his credit card. Now her failure to stake the brooding vampire has sent her back to Moscow in disgrace to face her mother’s wrath. Expecting punishment by death, she’s given a rare reprieve. She now has three tasks to complete, the last of which is to finally kill Elias. She will not fail this time.

If only the memories of one magical evening—back when Elias was human—would stop holding her back. He claims to have forgotten that night. Why can’t she?

Three years ago, Elias was a SWAT team member on a guy’s weekend in Vegas. Playing poker and minding his own business, his life changed forever when a captivating blonde strolled past his table in a light-up bra. He followed Roksana as if compelled, his very bones demanding he do so, his soul resonating with the belief she would be important to him. Always. That turned out to be a vast understatement—and nothing has changed.

Roksana embarks on her mission, determined to win back her mother’s approval, but when an astonishing truth emerges in the eleventh hour, will her stake pierce the very heart that beats in her honor? Or will love triumph over duty?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

If I had to use one word to describe this book, it would be "intense". But if you read the first book in this series, you probably expected that. Elias is one intense dude and Roksana is a force to be reckoned with. But you will also know that these two also have a soft spot for each other.

But how could a vampire and a vampire slayer have feelings for each other? Thankfully this book gave us the answer to that! I was so intrigued by how these two met and part of me wanted more from that portion of their story. Their meeting, in the grand scheme of things, was short, but it impacted them both in different ways and this is how we find them in their current situation.

I love a cranky main character and with this book, we get two of them! Roksana is a vampire slayer and should want to kill Elias and his friends, but we know from the first book that she is probably not going to do that. And Elias has vowed to take care of Roksana, but how can he when at the heart of everything, he is probably the one that is most at risk.

I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next book in this series. It seems as though Tucker will have his hands full and I am sure that it will be very entertaining.

EXCERPT

“Beers on me later,” Elias muttered, keeping his attention on the cards. “You can ask me whatever you want…”

He trailed off, that scrape between his shoulder blades growing more pronounced, until he couldn’t concentrate enough to decipher the suits of his cards. What the hell was going on? Throat dry, he laid down his hand and turned in his chair—

Silence fell around him when he saw her.

She was golden. Radiant.

Miserable.

The long-legged blonde limped through the casino with a beautiful pout on her face, a pair of high heels shoved under one arm. There was a fine sheen of dew on her incredible face, telling Elias she’d just escaped the stifling Vegas heat. Simply by existing, she commanded fealty and the casino seemed to part around her like the Red Sea, creating a path for her to complete a wobbly strut toward Elias’s poker table—and the closer she came, the more his lungs compressed, as if he was running out of fucking oxygen.

Who is she?

No idea. But the discomfort between his shoulder blades was gone.

Like a balm had been applied.

The girl was beyond gorgeous. He’d never noticed cheekbones on anyone in his life, but he noticed her high ones. The indigo blue of her eyes. And Jesus, he definitely noticed the way her soft mutterings made his heart flop over. Who are you?

Vaguely, he heard Latte ribbing him. “Bet you’d call her back, huh, Silent E?”

“Forget what I said about him being mysterious,” Kenny quipped. “Everything he’s thinking is right there on his face.”

More laughter. But the buzzing in his skull was already drowning them out.

Elias watched the blonde’s high heel fall out of her arms and flop sideways on the casino floor. He was on his feet before it stopped moving, abandoning his hand at the table without a thought so he could scoop up the shoe and follow. He didn’t have a choice in the matter. Going after her was a requirement, searing him, compelling him.

And a moment later, when she looked up at him from her seat at a slot machine, his world righted itself with a grinding snap. He hadn’t even known it was off kilter.

The blonde crossed her impossibly sexy legs and his body reacted swiftly, hardening.

“Well?” she said in a husky Russian accent. “Make it good. I only have five minutes before I wreak the havoc.”

RELEASE BLITZ & 4 STAR REVIEW: Make Me Hate You by Kandi Steiner

"This is a return to the Kandi Steiner of 2016 who brought us Weightless and A Love Letter to Whiskey. Prepare for the burn." -- Author Sarah E. Green

Make Me Hate You, an angsty, emotional stand-alone romance from bestselling author, Kandi Steiner,is LIVE!

If he kisses me right now, I’ll drown.

Every sip of air is shallow and burning, because in the arms of my best friend’s brother, I’m the closest I’ve ever been to sin.

His eyes flick to my lips, and I remember the first time I tasted him, seven years ago before I left this town and vowed never to return. His hands grip my waist, and I remember the pain when he rejected me, when my entire world crashed down at his command. His jaw clenches, and my senses come alive with one stinging reminder.

I’m not his to kiss, and he’s not mine.

I tried to stay away from Tyler Wagner, putting an entire country between us. But when his sister’s wedding brings us back to the same town, to the same house, I can’t avoid him, no matter how hard I try.

He’s always there, his dark eyes bewitching, luring me into their depths. The memory of us pulls me under like a rip current, and when he flashes that smile, I lose my breath, along with my will, unable to escape his grip and find the surface.

Now, hours before our plus ones arrive for the wedding, I’m in his arms, begging him to make me hate him, knowing he never could.

If he kisses me right now, I’ll drown.

And I’ll take him down with me.

Make Me Hate You is a best friend's brother romance that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

After graduating high school, Jasmine left home and didn't look back. The reason for that? Tyler Wagner shattered her heart. She has managed to stay away for 7 years, but now her best friend, who also happens to be Tyler's sister is getting married and she is the maid of honor. On the surface Jasmine has moved on. She has a successful career and a loving boyfriend. But all it takes is seeing Tyler again for her to realize that maybe staying away for as long as she did was not the best choice.

I enjoyed this book. The tension between Tyler and Jasmine was one that you could cut with a knife and there was a lot of "Will they? Of course they will. But when? Ahhhh!" going on. They agree that they should try to stay friends, but the they both find that hard to do. There are a lot of unresolved feelings and a lot of unsaid words.

I enjoyed this book, but I will say that the one thing that is still bugging me, days after I finished reading it, is how easily Jasmine forgave Morgan for something she did. I know I would have been way more angry about it than Jasmine was, but I also felt like Morgan didn't really look at the big picture and see the consequences of her actions. Everything about her really rubbed me the wrong way.

If you like your books full of angst, this is the book for you. If you enjoy the best friend's brother trope, this is the book for you. If you enjoy Kandi's books, this is the book for you. But let me throw in a content warning here and say that if you don't like cheating, this IS NOT the book for you.

EXCERPT

Seven miles and an hour later, and all the anxiety I’d felt the night before was completely gone.

At least, until I rounded the foyer into the kitchen and saw I wasn’t the only one up early on Sunday morning.

Tyler sat at the kitchen island, still in his navy blue sweat pants and simple white t-shirt, with one foot planted on the ground and the other hooked casually on the lower bar of his stool. His hair was an absolute disaster, the boyish waves sticking up this way and that. He had both hands wrapped around a mug of hot tea, his eyes focused on the iPad he had propped up in front of him, and BlueTooth headphones in his ears.

At first, he didn’t notice me, and I slowed my steps, standing silently at the entry of the kitchen and watching him. I’d done everything I could last night to avoid his gaze, to not look at him, and now that I had a stolen moment to observe, I found my chest tightening again, my mouth dry and sticky.

His brown eyes were hidden beneath bent brows, expression serious as he watched whatever was on the screen. Small lines creased the edges of his eyes — lines that weren’t there when we were kids. He’d grown into a man somehow, overnight, it seemed. Then again, it had been years.

I’d seen him on social media, watched from afar as his YouTube channel took off. I’d seen pictures of him on Instagram — traveling through Europe, hiking in Australia, swimming in hot pools in Iceland. I didn’t follow him, of course, but his profile was public, which allowed me to flip through picture after picture on the nights when I was a pathetic mess.

But, pictures and videos didn’t do justice to the actual man who sat studiously at that kitchen island.

He was something between the boy I used to love and the man I’d never know, familiar and unreachable all at once.

Tyler shook his head at something, letting out a frustrated sigh and kicking back the bar stool a little before taking a sip of his tea. His eyes flicked to me then, back to the screen, and then, he did a double take, this time fixing his gaze on me and leaving it there.

Something changed in his eyes when he looked at me, like a shadow passed over them and held him captive. I was dressed in jogger shorts and a modest tank top, but from the way he watched me, I might as well have been completely naked.

That’s what his gaze did to me, what it always had done.

It stripped me bare.

Best known for writing “emotional roller-coaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. EXCERPT

"What's your gut reaction?" Pierce is all business, asking about the house in front of us.

I don't respond.

"Where do you want to start? Inside or outside?"

He goes on, but I can't tear my eyes off the woman standing in the middle of the huddle.

Ashlyn Rhodes is a fucking vision.

A vision I'll never forget. That red hair, flawless face, striking green eyes, that fucking body… all of it hits me like a hammer to the chest. My hands itch to touch her, skim along her collarbone, down her chest, and tease until she whimpers. The sound of her pleasure faintly replays in my ears and I blow out a low, slow controlled breath to keep my composure.

I've had a lot of women in my life. More than most know. But only one sucker-punched me the way this auburn-haired knockout did.

For two days I knew her as Lily.

Worshipping her like no other, neither of us holding back. The woman was insatiable, and I was wrapped up. I tried to get to know her better, but she was a master in switching my focus. She was hypnotizing, stealing every ounce of my attention. Only once did she let down her guard and I saw a glimpse of the woman inside.

She was hiding something, and I intended to breakthrough.

Three hours later, I woke alone. She vanished, leaving me with nothing but a note. A note she signed with the name Lily.

But now I know the truth, Ashlyn fucking Rhodes.

Vaguely, I hear Evin drive up and speak to Pierce, but I stay aimed at the woman I haven't forgotten in almost six months. They go back and forth about this job, rambling about the work involved. I almost speak up when Pierce makes a bullshit comment about referring to another contractor.

Then her laughter fills the air, and her eyes come to me. The crystal green locks with mine, her pupils growing wide with shock. Recognition flickers in her gaze and the surprise turns into something else. She sucks in a breath, and my skin prickles with the heat between us.

Evin makes a smartass remark, "This should be interesting."

He's not talking about the house. A grin spreads across my lips and I focus on my brother. "She's a Prada Princess, huh?"

"You sure you're ready for this?"

"I can handle it."

"I'm going to give you a piece of advice."

"Don't want to hear it." Because why should I take advice from my little brother that has made more mistakes than I can count? I don't need him to tell me how to fuck things up.

"Too bad. Speaking from experience, every fucking ounce of effort is worth it."

"Says the man it took seventeen years to get to this point." It's a low blow, but the truth is the truth. Plus, he has no idea of my history with this vixen.

BREAKING NEWS: The Bad Boy of Baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped.

Okay, that might not be the headlines in the newspaper this morning, but it's the reality of my current situation.

It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She got a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I've known the girl since I was five, what harm would it be to have her stay at my place for a while?

Ha! Total disaster.

Now instead of going out every night with my teammates, I'm couch surfing and sketching endless photos of my best friend . . . but that's the least of my concerns.

The disaster, you ask? I'm rapidly falling head over cleats in love with my best friend, my roommate, and my number one fan.

And she has no idea . . .

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I love the friends to lovers trope. I love the connection the characters usually have. I especially love when the main characters have been friends for years because when they finally make the realization of "Oh my god, I love my best friend", it makes everything so much better. And this is the case with Maddox and Kinsley.

Friends since childhood, these two know everything there is to know about the other person. When Kinsley gets an amazing job offer and needs a place to stay, Maddox doesn't hesitate to let her stay with him. They're best friends, what could go wrong?

One of my favorite things that happen in romance books is the grovel. Not all grovels are equal. Some are better than others and I think the grovel in this book may be the one of the best grovels I have ever read. I won't say who does the grovelling, but it was so ridiculously satisfying.

This was another great book from Meghan. I love the baseball boys and I look forward to these books because even though the book is about one of them, we get them all! Jason cracks me up with his idiotic ways and Cory is always the voice of reason and I just love them so much!

PROLOGUE

**MADDOX**

Have you ever said something you regret?

Something you haven’t forgotten about an hour later?

Something that sits with you, stews deep in your belly, and then seeps into your bones, burying itself so far into your marrow that all you can think about is the one thing you said . . . and how you wished you could take it back the minute it slipped past your lips?

That’s where I am.

Full of regret.

People always say, “Don’t regret anything. It’s what makes you who you are.” That was said in a whiney, nasally voice. Did you hear it?

Well, those people, the ones trying to spew rainbows and sunshine up your ass about blatant mistakes . . . yeah, they’re only saying that because they fuck up on a daily basis.

Think about it, what REAL person is okay with all their regrets? No one. There is always that one thing you did, that one time, that you will always, always, always think . . . “What if I’d done that differently?”

It keeps you up at night.

You wonder, what transformed, what took over my brain, to utter such words. To alter your life completely and send it down an entirely different course.

Yeah, my life has been fucking altered all right.

Everything was fine.

I was pitching one hell of a fucking season for the Rebels, my ride or die team. I was getting along with my teammates, even the infamous Cory Potter, who made a splash after last season. I’ll hand it to the man, he really is the boss. I was getting laid whenever I wanted, which is always a plus for a guy who has massive amounts of adrenaline pumping through him daily, especially on a pitching day. And there were no strings attached.

None.

Yeah, I might have a rotation of women I call, but any single player in the major leagues does. You need the outlet. Even the prestigious Cory Potter had some booty call numbers before he found Natalie.

I was living a great life, and then it all changed. And it changed fucking fast.

Before I knew it, I was staring into my fridge at dairy products not made from a cow, but rather from oat. What the fuck is that? Oat milk? Explain to me where an oat has a goddamn nipple.

My toothbrush is made from bamboo, which gives off a very woody, splintery taste, and I’ve been using toothpaste tablets instead of paste from a tube . . . because apparently, tubes suck up life in the landfill.

The eco-friendly toilet paper in my apartment disintegrates in my hand and is worthless, making bathroom breaks a fucking nightmare.

And there’s a goddamn three-legged dog in a suit and tie sitting on my couch that goes by the name Herman, or Hermy for short.

I don’t have any privacy, I don’t even remember what meat tastes like anymore, and “Hermy” has a goddamn staring problem. And the three-legged motherfucker, yeah, he’s stealthy. I find him waiting for me outside the shower . . . staring.

When I wake up . . . staring.

When I’m trying to make a goddamn tempeh sandwich . . . staring.

Every time I tell him to “get a life” or to “fuck off” or for the love of Christ “get a new hobby”, he doesn’t even bat an eyelash.

He just stares!

I can’t fucking take it anymore.

I’m losing my goddamn mind and I don’t know . . . maybe it’s because I haven’t had sex in what feels like forever, or because my burgers are now made of imposter “meat”, or maybe because I’m forced to do things I don’t want to do. Either way, something needs to give, because I’m pretty sure from all the vegan shit I’ve been eating, my armpits are just about ready to spring their own mung beans.

Christ.

One phone call.

That’s all it took.

One fucking phone call from a person I cannot say no to, a person who will forever and always be . . . my insanely beautiful and free-spirited best friend.

4 STAR REVIEW: Royal Games T.K. Leigh

I was his biggest regret. He was my greatest adventure...

Every girl dreams of falling in love with a prince.

When I met Jeremy, I thought he was my prince.

Caring. Compassionate. Sensitive.

And, unfortunately for me, not attracted to women.

So here I am, thirty years old and divorced when most of my friends are just getting married. In desperate need of a restart, I set off on a road trip to learn how to love myself again.

The last thing I expected was to meet him.

Anderson North.

Mysterious. Enigmatic. Incredibly handsome.

And, after a malfunction with my rental car, my new road companion.

Can I give this man a piece of my heart after having it broken?
Can I learn to trust again after having that trust betrayed?
When he reveals his deepest secret, can I look beyond the lies and toward the only thing that matters?

I've always dreamed of finding my very own Prince Charming.

Maybe my prince is Anderson North.

Royal Games is a standalone angsty road trip romance with a royal twist.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I love a good road trip story! I've read a few over the years and they are always so entertaining. And this book was no different. Nora has her reasons for driving Route 66. And they are very good reasons. But so does Anderson. The last thing either of them are looking for is a road trip companion, but after they find themselves running into each other multiple times and Nora has car trouble, that is exactly what they get.

Whew! What a ride this book was! There were plenty of lighthearted moments to keep the story upbeat, but what stayed with me was the angst. A LOT of angst. I will admit that I figured out part of the plot early on, but then it went one step further and knocked me on my butt! I could not believe what I was reading and I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall! (I do that a lot with TK's books!)

The relationship between these  is a wonderful slow burn that drove me crazy in the best way possible. Nora wants to take things slow and has very good reasons for it, but OMG it was torturous to read. I definitely didn't yell "JUST DO IT ALREADY!" while I was reading. Nope! (Thank god I was quarantining by myself while reading this!)

And I am so happy that Nora & Anderson's story isn't finished. This book was just the beginning of their story and I feel as though there is so much more to tell!!! I can't wait!
