RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Once Forbidden, Twice Shy by Carries Aarons

Running from your problems only brings you hurtling face first into even worse baggage.

After experiencing a brutal trauma in New York that I’d rather bury than address, escaping to a new job in London seems like the perfect solution. That was before I was introduced to my new boss, who is none other than my brother’s best friend. You know, the one I’ve been head-over-heels in love with forever.

Jack Merrick had been my crush since I knew what one was. For years we fought the feelings; I didn’t want to humiliate myself and his excuse was not betraying my brother or parents, who had accepted him as their own. Then, the night of my college graduation party, he undressed me in my childhood bedroom and confirmed that there was no one else on this earth for him but me.

When I woke the next morning he was gone, off to take a job as a coder halfway around the world. Four years and a mangled heart later, Jack is the last person I expect to see in London, and something close to fate is tricking me into thinking this is more than a coincidence. Our shared love of programming has always connected us, but now it’s the thing we’re weaponizing to get back at each other.

Until one night, when the emotional scars from my attack resurface and he’s the only one to witness a massive breakdown. He coaxes out my secrets and swears to love and protect me like he couldn’t before. But with everything stacked against us, I’m not sure we can ever have what we’ve always dreamed of.

Except just as we’re beginning to tackle those obstacles, I learn the truth of why he left all those years ago. And suddenly there may be no future for us at all.

My Review

I received an advance copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Taylor moves to London to start a new job and the last person she expects to see is the guy who shattered her heart, aka her brother's best friend, Jack. Then things get even more complicated when it turns out Jack is her boss. But unbeknownst to Taylor, Jack has always regretted the way things ended between them and is willing to play by Taylor's rules.

Things change (because of course they do) when Taylor injures herself and Jack, thanks to Taylor's family, comes to her rescue. It's at that point that Taylor's well formed "everything is fine" persona starts to fall apart and she actually lets Jack in.

Brother's best friend and a (kind of) second chance romance? I'm in! I always like books where the main characters have a history and can build on what is already there. Taylor and Jack have some issues to work through and doing that will allow them to be together. Their journey is a good one and I enjoyed it a lot.

CW: talk of robbery/assault (past event), anxiety,
 infertility

About the Author

Author of romance novels such as Fool Me Twice and Love at First Fight, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the love stories of her imagination, and the athleisure dress code, much better.

When she isn't writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in the suburbs of New Jersey with her husband, two children and ninety-pound rescue pup.

RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: In a Jam by Kate Canterbary

In a Jam by Kate Canterbary is now live!

She's the one who got away. She just doesn't know it.

When Shay Zucconi’s step-grandmother died, she left Shay a tulip farm—under two conditions.

First, Shay has to move home to the small town of Friendship, Rhode Island. Second—and most problematic since her fiancĂ© just called off the wedding—Shay must be married within one year.

Marriage is the last thing in the world Shay wants but she’ll do anything to save the only real home she’s ever known.

Noah Barden loved Shay Zucconi back in high school. Not that he ever told her. He was too shy, too awkward, too painfully uncool to ask out the beautiful, popular girl.

A lifetime later, Noah is a single dad to his niece and has his hands full running the family business. That old crush is the farthest thing from his mind.

Until Shay returns to their hometown and turns his life upside down.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Shay gets left at the altar and soon after finds out she inherited her grandmother's farm. Well...she can inherit it if she gets married within a year. Setting that part aside, Shay knows that she needs to get away, so she decides to go to the farm.

Shay is the last person Noah expects to see back in town. They both left thinking they'd never return and they are both back. Noah has not only (successfully) taken over the family farm, but in charge of his 6 year old niece (who is hilarious and I adored her from the first time she appeared).

Noah and Shay were just...*chef's kiss*. She is totally taken aback when he suggests they get married, but as they fall back into the friendship they once had, Shay realizes that being married to him might not be so bad. Noah was just THE BEST and it was clear that even though the marriage was one of convenience, he was definitely taking it seriously. The urge he had to take care of Shay was top tier, A+ stuff. This isn't the first time this author has written a character like this and honestly...just inject it into my veins.

I cannot even begin to explain how much I loved this book. I laughed. I swooned. I felt the warm and fuzzies. And I also needed to cool down at times. This book has everything and I just loved it SO MUCH.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Northern Stars by Brittainy Cherry

Northern Stars by Brittainy Cherry is now live!

Hollywood's biggest star first belonged to me.

Breaking up with your high school sweetheart was one thing.

Breaking up with Hollywood’s favorite actor? That was a different situation.

I’d been in love with Aiden Walters since I was a little girl. We’d grown up as neighbors in small town Wisconsin. I knew him inside and out, and he knew every single piece of me. I was there when his career took off, and I was almost certain I’d always be a part of his life.

It wasn’t until a scandal broke out that I was forced to end things with Aiden. He didn’t take it very well. The boy I once loved began to hate me. He went off to California to leave all of his past behind—including me.

Five years later, he was back in town for the next few months taking care of some family business. He was staying in the only hotel in our small town. The hotel I now oversaw. For the next few months, I’d be forced to cater to the man whose heart I’d broken all those years ago. The man who resented me. The man who swore he’d never speak to me again.

Now that he was back in town, in constant connection with me, I had to keep reminding myself daily of why I ended things with him in the first place. Otherwise, I’d find myself falling in love with him all over again. Only this time, I was certain that if I fell, he wouldn’t be willing to catch me.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of honest review.

We meet Aiden and Hailee when they are 8 years old. They are neighbors and like a lot of children at that age, they "hate" each other. But as they get older, they realize that they have always been the best of friends. That friendship gets put to the test many times throughout the years and its up to Aiden and Hailee to work through their issues.

One of the things I enjoy the most about Brittainy's books is the range of emotions I feel when I read them. I raged at the mean girls who picked on Hailee. I found myself shaking my head at Aiden's father and his overbearing personality. My heart ached and my eyes leaked (a bit) for both Aiden and Hailee when she did what she thought was best for both of them. I laughed when Aiden made the choice to win Hailee back (the things he did!) and rejoiced when it actually happened. Experiencing all these things while reading a single book doesn't happen often and is a testament to Brittainy's great writing.

AND if you have read the other books in the Compass series, you are in for a treat! Just trust me when I say that you will be delighted with how things unfold in this book.

RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover by Kelly Siskind

50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover
by Kelly Siskind is now live!

From Kelly Siskind comes a slow-burn romantic comedy about one man’s creative attempt to win back his high school sweetheart after a change in fortune gives them a second chance at love.

Growing up, I had it all—my art, close friends, a gorgeous girlfriend who owned my heart—but then my life exploded.

Turns out my father was laundering money, and my whole family got shoved into witness protection. No notice. No chance to explain. I was ripped away from beautiful, blue-eyed Delilah Moon, shattering both our worlds.

A decade later, fate has given us a second chance.

The cartel my father worked for has been wiped out. I’ve returned to my hometown, determined to win back the love of my life. But Delilah is engaged.

Or . . . is she?

I’m almost positive she’s lying about her fiancĂ© to protect her heart. Which means I need to up my game.

I’ve made a list of fifty ways to prove we’re meant to be. Except Delilah’s barely looking at me, never mind swooning. I have a feeling my disappearance scarred her more than she’s admitting, and no one in town will tell me what happened . . .

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

If I could use one word to describe this book it would be "pining". There is SO MUCH PINING in this book and it is of the A+ variety. E was just the absolute best and I loved him (and his brothers) so much.

E returning to his hometown to reunite with Delilah may not be the best idea, but it is literally everything he has been waiting for. He knew that winning her back wouldn't be easy, but he was up for the task. And he knew exactly how to do it.

Delilah doesn't trust E, but she has a really good reason. It's clear that she still loves him, but she doesn't know how to trust him again. I loved that she really put him through the wringer. It made for some excellent angst that tugged at my heart strings for a lot of the book.

I just loved this book so much. As soon as I was done, I wanted to immediately reread it. It gave me all the warm and fuzzies, but it also delivered some super sexy times.

Now bring on the moody Desmond Bower....I am ready!!!
