My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review. 

To answer the question that I'm sure a lot of people are thinking: Talon is Nico and Sophie's son. Some day I will go back and read the Until series and then go right into the Until Her/Him series because ever time I read one of these books I have to jog my (terrible) memory about who is who, but that's besides the point. 

I loved Talon and Mia's first meeting. It was one of those "knight in shining armor" moments that grabbed my attention and even made me swoon a little. Like the rest of the Mayson men, Talon has no problem going after what he wants and what he wants is Mia. Mia, having moved to Tennessee to help her sister, she isn't looking for love, but quickly finds that Talon is hard to resist. 

I'm a sucker for a good series. I've been reading Reynolds' Until series since the beginning and I will definitely keep reading as long as she keeps putting them out. At this point I am finding that the books are a little predictable and formulaic, but I really don't care. I love the characters and I am a giant sucker for the "BOOM".

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review. 

Remember the girl who helped save Harmony's life? This is her story. From the moment Cobi sees Hadley, he is taken with her. He NEEDS to know she is okay after everything she went through and that results in him showing up while she is still in the hospital and then at her house. He makes is very clear that he is not going away. Hadley can't figure out what Cobi sees in her, but it isn't long before she doesn't want him to leave. She might be fiercely independent, but there is just something about those Mayson men!  

Going in, I essentially knew what I was going to get with this story, but that didn't matter. Cobi was a giant sweetheart, who just like his family members before him, found his "boom" and he wasn't about to let her go. He was a tad overbearing (sound familiar?), but also very sweet and a lot sexy. 

I just love this family! Of course throughout the course of the book we get to see the rest of the Mayson clan, which is something that I always enjoy. As always, the author teases us a little with the next story and I look forward to reading it!

My review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review. 

FINALLY! I have been waiting for Sage and Kimberly's story for a while now and if you have read the previous books, you know why. I won't say why because I don't want to give anything away. 

Sage helps Kimberly change a tire, they have one amazing night together and BOOM. But a misunderstanding makes Sage do that "I'm really mad about what happened, but I won't let you explain" thing (he actually does it TWICE...grrrrr!) we all hate and they spend a couple months apart. When they do reunite Kimberly's sister dies and her life is blown apart. Luckily for her Sage is there to help her through it and He makes sure she knows that from now on, he will be there for her. His family as well. Kimberly already knows a lot of the Mayson clan and they treat her like one of their own, so it just makes sense. Kimberly was a pretty independent person and having to rely on others was hard, but she eventually finds that she needs it to get through. 

I loved this book. Sage was the absolute sweetest. Like his family members before him, he was wasn't looking for "the one" but once he found Kimberly on the side of the road, he knew that she was it. His BOOM. And it was also that way for Kimberly, she just didn't realize it. 

Some of my favorite scenes in this book is when the whole Mayson clan gets together. I love that none of them have changed over the years and it's always nice to get a glimpse to see how things are going for everyone.

“He apologized. Don’t you think you should do the polite thing and at least hear him out?” 

“I don’t know.” 

“You don’t know, or you’re just too scared to find out what will happen if you do?”

“Do we have to do this right now?” I sigh, and he tosses his arm around my shoulders and pulls me into his side. 

“We’ve been doing this for months now. I’ve seen the way you look at him when you think no one will notice, and I see the way he looks at you, not giving a fuck if everyone sees. Even when he thought you and I were a thing, he still made it perfectly clear to those who were watching that if by some chance he got a shot, you would be his.”

“I really think you are reading way too much into this.”

My Review

"Fucking Boom."

Indeed.

Ellie and Jax do not meet under normal circumstances, but the moment he sees her (not even meet her, SEES her), he knows that she is his "boom." The one he is supposed to spend the rest of his life with. Now he just needs to convince Ellie of that. 

Ellie is a victim of the human trafficking storyline that we read about in Until July. She gets rescued along with July and that is the first time Jax sees her. Without giving it a second thought, Jax brings Ellie and her daughter Hope to stay at his house. Of course Ellie was a bit wary (who wouldn't be?) of Jax and his kindness, but his main concern was was keeping them safe and having them close was how that was going to happen. So basically Jax wakes up one day as single guy and next thing he knows he has an insta-family. 

I loved everything about this book. Every time Jax interacted with Hope...SWOON. (Sidenote: Hope was hilarious. I love when an author writes a funny kid. I especially like when that kid wraps the Hero/heroine around their adorable little finger. The author definitely accomplished that with Jax and Hope's relationship and it was probably my favorite part of the book. Cockporn anyone?) Jax having a heart to heart with his parents and talking about how they became a family...SWOON. Pretty much everything Jax said to Ellie...SWOON. Jax just existing...SWOON. Seriously though, I don't think he could be more perfect. He was so patient with Ellie and didn't push her to do anything she didn't want to do. He was so super protective (like all the Mayson men) of both Hope and Ellie and while at times it may have seemed like it was too much, it was necessary. 

Jax definitely had his work cut for him when it came to convincing Ellie that their relationship could work. She'd only been burned in the past and recent events have made her even more wary of people in general. It doesn't help that one of Jax's crazy exes makes it her goal to make Jax hers again and causes lots of problems. But Jax (and the rest of his family) do a fantastic job of not only accepting Ellie and Hope, but bringing them into the family fold like they had been there all along. Ellie gets the family she always wanted and Jax gets to hold on to his "boom." 

This book made me want to go back and read the original Until series. Lilly and Cash's love story becomes very relevant to Ellie and Jax's and it was nice to take a walk down memory lane. I am also looking forward to Sage's story. We get a little background on the situation between him and Ellie's coworker Kim, and I think that it will be quite the doozy of a book.

“Thank you again for taking me.” Pulling my eyes from the road for a brief moment, I look at Ellie. Her head is resting against the window, her legs pulled up onto the seat, tucked near her ass, and her arms are wrapped tight around them. One thing I’ve noticed about her over the last few hours is she’s always wrapping her arms around herself or tucking her body into a tight ball. It’s like she’s forcing herself to stay together.

“I told you I got you, baby,” I say gently, wanting more than anything to take her hand in mine, but every time I touch her, she freezes up like she’s waiting for me to strike out at her, and I would be lying if I said that didn’t piss me the fuck off. It does; it feels like a slap in the face every time it happens.

“I know,” she whispers, and the tears I hear in her voice cause a sharp pain in my chest.

Fuck.

“This is the turnoff.” Her feet go to the floorboard and her hands to the dash as she sits up taller, moving her face closer to the windshield. We drive up a long dirt driveway with forest and the occasional broken down car on each side. When we make it to the top of the hill, a singlewide trailer comes into view, with junk cars and garbage piled up out front.

As soon as I come to a stop, she opens her door and hops out before I can tell her to keep her little ass in the cab. I don’t even know how I’m going to deal with the range of emotions that have settled over me since seeing her for the first time.

“Fucking Boom,” I mutter, getting out behind her and doubling my steps until I’m able to reach her side, where I wrap my hand around her waist and pull her closer to me. She’s so fucking tiny that the top of her dark head sits right at my chest. So fragile, from her too soft skin to her petite size. And she’s mine.
