5 Star Review: Switch Stance by ME Carter and Andrea Johnston

A #MyNewLife & Country Road Series Crossover Standalone

I, Agnes Sylvester, a successful author known as Adeline Snow to the romance community, enjoy the simple things in life: watching the X Games with my childhood friend Todd; taking pictures of interesting buildings; and creating stories based on fantasies about my favorite skateboarder, Spencer Garrison. I’m known for my extreme sports stories, and as long as no one ever figures out he’s my muse, all is well.

But fate has never liked me and now that muse is standing in front of me. Asking me to sign a book.

What.
Is.
Happening!?!

“Extreme Sports Superstar” is the term the media has used to describe me over the years. I prefer to just be Spencer Garrison, a small-town guy who happens to ride a skateboard for a living and is known for philanthropy.

Nearing retirement, I’m focusing on my non-profit efforts and building a life outside of a professional athlete. My agent won’t let me retire in peace and consequently a talented and kindhearted woman stumbles her way into my life.

Sometimes happy endings aren’t written. They’re lived.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I loved the idea of an author coming face to face with her muse. In this case, Aggi, aka Adeline Snow, meets her muse, Spencer Garrison, the extreme sports star. And the way they meet is fantastic. Spencer accompanies his sister to a signing and from the minute he sees Aggi, he can't stop thinking about her. Meanwhile, Aggi cannot believe that she is actually meeting her muse. And embarrassing herself in front of him. Repeatedly. And then she has to go on tour with him. No, really.

There is so much to like about this book. Aggi and Spencer are wonderful characters that you can't help but love. At first Aggi thinks that there is no way that Spencer could actually like her, but as they start to spend more time together, she starts to see Spencer for the regular guy he is. Sure, he might be a famous athlete, but he's very down to earth and finds Aggi to be unlike anyone he's ever met before. And he loves that. They have a fun, playful relationship that made me think #relationshipgoals pretty much the whole time. Because y'all...Spencer is the SWEETEST and amazing book boyfriend material.

One of the things I also loved about this book is the whole "insiders view" of attending a book signing. We get Aggi's point of view as an author and then Spencer's as a "reader". I laughed out loud more than once because I thought "Yup. Exactly!" It was a fantastic nod to something that I could relate to, but it was also so much fun!

While this is a crossover book of sorts, you do not need to have read either series to enjoy this book. I admit that I have not read Andrea's books, but it didn't matter.

At the time of this posting, 50% of proceeds from the sale of this book was going to charity, so you can't go wrong. You'll get a fun story and also help out a great cause!
