My Review
I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.
When the book opens, Dylan is about to get it on with Keely. You're probably thinking "Well what's wrong with that?" Under normal circumstances the answer is nothing, but when the girl Dylan really wants is Keely's twin Zoe, that's a problem. And yes, I know that sounds a little creepy but trust me when I say the creep factor is basically zero.
But let's go back a little. Dylan and Zoe meet in the gym's equipment closet their freshman year of high school. She gets caught up in some volleyball netting and Dylan helps her out. Turns out they are both very aware of the other person and before Zoe knows it, she has a date for the upcoming Sweetheart Dance and also a new best friend. Now it's seven years later and they have assumed that they've friendzoned each other. But Dylan desperately wants to change that. When the opportunity for Dylan and Zoe to become roommates arises, he thinks he's concocted he perfect plan. Essentially they will live together and she will see that she can't live without him. BOOM. Problem solved. (Of course there is more to it than that, but you will just have to read for yourself.)
Dylan. Wow. That guy is romance on two legs. I lost count of how many times I found myself swooning over the romantic things he said to Zoe. And he had a lot to say. I mean he basically stockpiled his feelings for seven years. But the thing I loved most about Dylan was his persistence in trying to win Zoe's heart. Or maybe I should say get her to realize that she had already given him her heart. Zoe didn't make it easy on him but he never gave up on her. He just loved her too much and wasn't about to let her get away.
I LOVED ZOE. She is so freaking awkward at times and is always finding herself in some of the funniest situations. Seriously y'all, this girl made me LOL more than once with her antics. Then at one point in the book she says this:
"Because I don't feel sexy, Dylan. When I look in the mirror, I see an average girl. A girl who doesn't spend hours on her hair because she sucks at using the curling iron. A girl who can't stand a lot of makeup on her face, even though it's make me prettier. My clothes aren't designer, they come from sales racks because I'm already knee deep in school loans. I'm nothing special."I finished reading that and immediately thought "Oh my god that's me!" I could relate to Zoe, and I don't mean me as a college student. I could relate to her as current me, a grown ass woman. And I just loved how Dylan made a point to tell/show her just how wrong she was about herself. He just wanted Zoe to see herself through his eyes. If that's not love, then I don't what is.
This books is full of friends to lovers, NA goodness. You will definitely laugh a lot and maybe even shed a tear or two. So do yourself a favor and 1-click this book!
