We're celebrating the release of  HARD TO FALL by Marquita Valentine! Check out my review and the teasers below!

Title: Hard to Fall (Take the Fall #4)
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 18, 2016

Book Description:

As a hardworking, hard-partying firefighter, Hayden Walker values his career and his freedom. But as the eldest son of a U.S. senator, he agreed long ago to follow in his father’s footsteps and run for office, and that means settling down and marrying the picture-perfect wife. Hayden just isn’t ready for that sort of commitment . . . not with women like beautiful, curvy Saylor Dean—the naughty bridesmaid he recognizes the morning after his buddy’s wedding—tempting Hayden to stay single forever.

The unwanted love child of a well-known politician, Saylor has always felt isolated and alone, her only solace the animal shelter she runs in Forrestville. Then she meets Hayden at her best friend’s wedding. During their impulsive and unforgettable night together, Saylor feels desired like never before—only to wake up and find that Hayden doesn’t remember his drunken proposal, or their hasty marriage, or her. But when the truth comes out, Saylor finds it’s a lot harder to fall out of love than in love.

**Can be read as a stand alone.**

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

So I readily admit that I wasn't too sure about Hayden, especially after the way the book opens. And it's not that I didn't like him, I made some assumptions about his character and boy, was I proven wrong!

Hayden and Saylor meet when they are both in Hunter and Evangeline's wedding. They go to Mexico to celebrate with the wedding party, get drunk and get married. (As you do.) We don't get too many details about what actually happened in Mexico, but that's okay. That's not the story. They story is everything that happens after the fact.

They part ways while still in Mexico, but they find themselves constantly thinking about the other person. They have a series of awkward interactions and even a couple dates and before they know it, they are dating. But here's the thing...Hayden has no recollection of marrying Saylor. And Saylor doesn't even know if the marriage is legal in the US so she doesn't even mention it, until the time comes when she absolutely has to tell Hayden what they did. You see, his father, the Senator wants Hayden to run for office, but that is not what he wants. So to please him, Hayden says that he will find a wife. Perfect! He actually takes the marriage news quite well and has no problem going through the motions to make sure it is valid in the US. And just like that they are a married couple! Well they always were, but now they BOTH know it.

Gah! I LOVED Hayden so much. Talk about book boyfriend material. He was extremely sweet and thoughtful. He genuinely liked the quirky Saylor (which was a new thing for him) and never once did he judge her for any of the awkwardness that she carried around with her. Hayden found found her to be interesting and while she was not the typical woman he hooked up with, she was exactly what he needed. And not just because she was already his wife. They got a long like gangbusters and their relationship made me giddy.

The stumbling block for this happily ever after comes in the form of Saylor's past coming back to cause trouble. Unbeknownst to her, that past is connected to Hayden's family and once everything is out in the open, her future with him is threatened. But I was super happy with how everything played out and I'm pretty sure I even gave a victory fist pump or two. And the epilogue...LOVED IT.

I just loved this series and said to see it end, but we given a little bit of info as to how Marquita's next series, Royals in Exile, fits in to the her book universe. We all know how Marquita loves to do that! I can't wait!
