BLOG TOUR & 5 STAR REVIEW: Hotshot by Ahren Sanders

Title: Hotshot
Author: Ahren Sanders
Release Date: August 29, 2016

I don’t remember a time I didn’t love Crenshaw Bennett.
I tried to deny it, but my feelings grew deeper.
I thought he could never love me the way I love him.

I was wrong—outrageously, deliriously, and beautifully wrong.

One innocent kiss changes my life forever.

Suddenly, Shaw is mine.
Loyal, devoted, and the most loving man on this Earth.
Together, we create an explosion of fiery passion, devotion, and chemistry I never knew was possible.

All of my dreams are within reach, but I should have known it was too good to be true.

The past always catches up to you, and I’m left staring at my worst nightmare.

Faced with the unthinkable, I am forced to choose between the man I love and a past I cannot change.

Shaw’s fighting like hell to prove we can have it all, but can I find the strength to be the woman he needs?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

By the end of the prologue I knew that I was going to love this book. We are introduced to Bizzy and Shaw and I fell in love with both of them pretty much instantly...just like they fell in love with each other. Actually, their first meeting was one of my favorite moments in the book.
“You do seem like a handful.”
“I’m blunt and spicy. It makes for more fun.”
“I bet,”I agree.
She bites on her lip and stares at me intently, her face now unreadable. Then she speaks. “I think I know what you should do after law school. Do you like sports?”
I shoot her my best ‘are you kidding’ look.
“You should do the fancy law school thing, but afterwards come out and be a sports agent with the legal knowledge. You can manage Nicky’s career when he goes pro after college. But you have to make sure he gets drafted somewhere awesome, preferably close to home. He can kick some of his teammates your way. We live in Miami, so there are tons of athletes here. You can build a business close to us.”
Her statement surprises me again. She knows of Nick’s dream to be a professional football player? He’s very quiet about his goal, especially since he’s missing his freshman season because of the fucking cancer. I look over to him, seeing he’s now biting on his thumbnail, watching me.
But her idea sends a jolt of excitement through me. She’s laid out exactly what I want to do.
“I think you may have carved my career path,” I tell her and place my hand on Nick’s knee. “Your girlfriend is pretty smart.”
“Eww! Stop with the girlfriend thing. He’s not my type.” She sighs. “I’m into older guys.”
This time when she wiggles her eyebrows, I get her teasing and laugh with them.
We spend the next two hours joking around and playing poker. When I run out of money, I have to give my hat to Lizbeth as payment. She seems satisfied, until she starts to pale and sweat breaks out on her forehead. Nick leans over and looks in her bag, then cusses under his breath.
“She needs a Coke,” he tells me. “She loves Coke.”
I jump up, ready to do whatever it takes to make her feel better.
“Shaw,” she says weakly. I turn back and suck in a breath at her now exhausted appearance. “I want a nickname, too.”
Without a beat, it comes to me. “Bizzy. You’ll be Bizzy.”
She nods and closes her eyes. Nick gives a small smile. “I like Bizzy. She’ll be our Bizzy, forever.”
I walk to the cafeteria with a heavy heart. My brother has had two days with this precious girl and has already shared his deepest dreams. I’ve spent a little over two hours with her, and she has suggested a path that will shape my entire life.
She’s sweet, funny, spunky, and gorgeous. The way Nick looks at her tells me this girl is going to be in his life forever, which means she’ll be in all our lives. She made him smile and laugh during this shitty time. She made me relax when I thought it was impossible. Just being in the room with her brought me happiness. She has a natural effervescence that eases anyone lucky enough to be in her presence.
A smile tugs on my lips as I think about her calling me sexy. She’s dangerous. If I was five years younger, I’d be crawling at her feet.
One thing’s for sure; Lizbeth “Bizzy” Hastings has left an imprint on my heart.
Fast forward 10 years and Bizzy is not only still friends with Nick, but also Shaw and their other brother Mathis. They look over her like she is part of their family. After a rough day at work, Bizzy finds herself at Shaw's office. They share what most people would be an innocent kiss, but for Shaw it just knocks him on his ass. After convincing Bizzy to go on a business trip with him, EVERYTHING about their relationship changes. These two have been in love with each other for ten years. Bizzy was convinced that Shaw could never feel the same way and Shaw was just too hardheaded to act on it.

Here's the thing about this book. After reading the blurb and then reading the prologue, I thought I knew where this book was headed, but I couldn't have been more wrong. So props to the author on that. And the direction it does go, I think was worse than what I originally thought! Haha. Ahren has really given us a great villian in this story. I found myself getting absolutely livid more than once.

Bizzy and Shaw as a couple were absolutely amazing. I'm not even sure I can put into words how amazing they were. I mean, talk about true love. These two were friends for ten years. And during those ten years, they both hid how they felt about the other person. They pretty much knew everything about each other, so it was like they were starting on their 500th date. And when they finally give in to their feelings it is off the charts hot.

Ahren has given us another wonderful love story. It's an emotional, angsty, love filled, roller coaster ride and I loved every moment of it. And Shaw has been added to my book boyfriend list. Sure, he's not perfect and there were moments where I wanted to smack him in the head, but I never once doubted his feelings for Bizzy. If you are a fan of Ahren, this is a must read.
