My Review
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you haven't read the first book, Unwritten, do not ready any further! You must read that first!
This book picks up right where the first one left off. Charlie has left Allison in Paris to go deal with the situation at home. He has a big decision to make and he is torn. He wants to make the right choice, but is afraid of losing Allison.
He sits down, exasperated, looking away from me, “I don’t know. I keep having these dreams.”
“Yeah, about what?”
“About you. About the baby. About my parents.”
“And…?”
“Allison, I need to know I won’t lose you.”
“Charlie,” I take a deep breath, trying not to go there again, “tell me about the dreams.”
He sits forward, staring blankly at the wall, “The first one was crazy. I was on one of the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. I just remember being terrified because I was so high up and it was so foggy, I couldn’t see anything to get down. Then, all of the sudden, I was securely on the ground and my parents walked up, holding a baby and I had this feeling like I knew everything was going to be ok.”
I look at him, trying to hide the anxiety I feel about his dream and the entire situation. “Did they say anything?”
“Yes,” he looks down, still not able to look me in the eye as he talks about his dream. “They asked if I wanted to meet my son. They said his name was Lyric.”
I inhale sharply at the sound of the baby’s name but don’t dare say a word.
“Then the other dream was of you and a little boy. You were reading to him, sitting on a porch swing at a house in the country. You called the little boy Lyric as well and he called you Mommy.”
He looks at me and I can tell it’s more to gauge my reaction from the Mommy comment rather than to see if I have something to say in response.
I look down as tears fill my eyes that I can’t fight back.
Charlie reaches his arms around me, “Please don’t cry, Allison. I’m so sorry. What can I do? I need to make this all ok.”
“Charlie, you need to decide what you want.”Charlie and Allison's road to happiness is a bumpy one, but I never once doubted their love for one another. They may have had an unconventional start to their relationship, but I think that resulted in them having a very strong foundation. A foundation that allowed them to get through every obstacle they faced in this book.
There is a secondary story in the book that involves Allison's sister Nichole and Charlie's friend Paul. I LOVED it. They start out having a one night stand that turns into so much more. Nichole is hesitant to get into a relationship, but Paul is all about it. He even does what I consider to be some fantastic wooing to try to convince her. And it is wonderful. I love an author is able to write a secondary story that will keep my attention just as much as the main story.
The author has given us a very satisfying follow up to Unwritten. Loose ends are tied up and there are even a few surprises along the way. Charlie and Allison are probably more in love (if that's even possible) than they were in the first book. And they are still bringing the sexy, just like in the first book. The addition of Nichole and Paul was just a bonus.

After meeting Allison, Charlie enters a world where everything he knows no longer makes sense, leaving him too scared to move forward, yet making it impossible to look back. But can he give up his entire life for love?
