Loveswept: FLIRT

In the sizzling new novel of Renita Pizzitola’s Crush series, Felicity knows that “Summer Boys” are only good for one thing. But what if hooking up with the right guy could lead to a fresh start?

Like most of the residents of her dead-end beach town, Felicity Daniels doesn’t know what she wants from her future. Instead of college, she’s waiting tables at the local grille where she’s more likely to run into the guy who was the love of her life—until one decision changed everything. Now as this year’s tourist season kicks in to high gear, Felicity realizes that whatever she wants isn’t going to be found here.

Mason Hayes is the quintessential Summer Boy: hot, impulsive, and born without strings attached. While in town helping with the family fishing charter, he plans to have a little fun—and hopefully get over a certain girl. He’s never had a long-term relationship, but when he meets Felicity, he wonders if he’s found the girl who could change that.

With her heart still in repair, Felicity’s happy to have a distraction like Mason, but her best friend thinks he could also be her ticket out of this town. What’s the harm in using him to escape more than just her boredom? After all, he is just a Summer Boy, and they never stick around. But after one kiss, Felicity wonders if only one summer with Mason will ever really be enough.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mason is in town visiting and working at the family business for the summer. He is the definition of a "summer boy" and exactly what Felicity needs to get over her last relationship. She loves the summer boys. She gets a summer fling without any of the attachments. Perfect. But here's the thing. Mason is definitely not a summer boy. Not even close. And Felicity figures this out pretty quickly.

Felicity feels a connection with him as soon as they meet. He's the cousin of her best friend so they end up hanging out with a lot of the same people. Oh and he is also staying on the boat that is next to hers on the harbor. Even better. When she realizes that there is more to their relationship than just a summer fling she tries to resist Mason. But Mason is a persistent man.

I freaking loved Mason and Felicity as a couple. They were adorable together from the start.
He was still grinning as I studied him and it suddenly hit me, I was standing there. Staring. Geez. “Sorry. I’m exhausted from my shift. Sort of out of it.”
He nodded slowly, clearly not buying my excuse. “Well, get changed and come relax. We can bitch about our day, gripe about our aching bones, maybe get in a fight over whose turn it is to cook dinner.”
I stifled a laugh, and played along with his old married couple reference. “Which will, of course, lead me into reminding you that my lasagna is never as good as your mother’s.”
“Ah, but we can’t forget, I always over season when I cook.”
“And while we are talking about dinner, we should probably discuss the fact dishes don’t wash themselves.”
“Well, if we’re going there, you might as well remind me that the floor is not a hamper.”
“Obviously.” My smile finally broke free. “Then I’ll complain of a headache, and we’ll call it a night.”
“Wow.” He leaned back and rubbed his chin. “I’m sorry to say it, but I think this relationship is moving too fast.”
“Relationship?” I raised an eyebrow. “We’re one dirty sock away from divorce.”
He laughed and my chest fluttered because it was one hell of a sexy laugh. “Get changed and come on over. I’m eager to get to know my future ex-wife.”
See. Adorable.

Throughout the book Felicity's friend Isla keeps bringing up how Mason could be the one who helps Felicity get out of their tiny little town. Felicity has dreams, but no means to make them a reality. She needs that push to guide her out of town and as the book goes on, Mason becomes the push that she needs. He's very supportive and even helps her find a job/place to live. What I liked about the story was that even though the idea kept coming up of Felicity using Mason, it doesn't play out that way. Turns out she really does care for him. And when I say she cares about him, I mean that she really does love him. She can see a possible future with him. Luckily for her, Mason feels the same way.

This is a great read. There is some drama, but for the most part and just like the rest of the series, it is a light read.
