Book Two in the Consolation Duet
I fell in love with Liam only to be left shattered into a million pieces. Again. The idea of being without him cripples me but the reality is, he’s gone.

He doesn’t understand and I can’t make him.

If only he’d see the conviction behind my words—then he’d still be here.

EXCERPT

His voice is thick and husky as he refuses to break from my eyes. “Tell me you’re real.”

“I’m real.”

“Tell me you’re really here.”

“I’m here with you.” My hand rises, and I press my thumb to his lips. “I’m here for you. I’m here with only you. I need you so much.”

His eyes close as I rub my thumb, savoring the rough feel on my skin.

“Stay with me,” he pleads.

Liam’s hands rest on each side of my face as I drag him down further. “There’s nowhere else I want to be.” Our lips meet, and I lose myself.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I sometimes struggle when writing book reviews. And it's not because I didn't like a book. It is because I loved a book SO FREAKING MUCH, I have a hard time organizing my thoughts in a way that will make sense to anyone other than me. And then there are the times you finish a book and you wish you could go back to before you read it, just so you can experience it all over again. This book falls into both of those categories.

I love the way that Corinne handled this story. She really didn't let anyone have an easy go of it, but she also didn't keep me guessing until the very end. I think most people who read Consolation had their own idea of how they wanted this book to go and what we got was somewhere in the middle.

The book picks up right where Consolation left off. Aaron is alive and he is right in front of Natalie. And so is Liam. To say that Natalie is in shock is an understatement, but being the badass that she is, she knows exactly what she wants. I was so impressed with Natalie in this book. Her dead husband has returned and she is in love with his best friend. Of course she needs answers from Aaron, but she also needs to know that she has a future with Liam.

A LOT happens in this book. I won't go into details, but I will say this: I didn't think that I could love Liam more than I did after Consolation, but his actions in this book propelled him into the Book Boyfriend Hall of Fame. The perfect man is PERFECT.

And here's the thing that made me think "You are such a clever lady!" I didn't hate Aaron as much as I thought I would. Of course I wanted to smack him upside the head at multiple points during the story, but by the end of the book I found myself thinking "Well, he's not that bad after all."

There were a lot of emotional moments in this book I ugly cried crazy more than once. The Natalie and Liam scenes were emotional enough, but then throw in a family emergency that resonated with me and I basically needed to rehydrate. Buckets of tears people. BUCKETS.

But I also laughed a lot while reading this book...THANK GOD FOR TWILIGHT! That man sure knows how to lighten a serious moment. And let me just say, when he commits to a role, he really commits. (If you haven't read the book, you will probably be VERY confused by this, but trust me when I say it's worth it to go into this blind.)

Thank you Corinne for giving us the perfect follow up to Consolation. You made me laugh. You made me tear up and you made me cry like a freaking baby (both happy and sad). Now give us Mark's book!!!

Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.
He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.
But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.
One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.
