My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

After Eli sends away the tenth personal assistant, Isabella knows that she needs to take one for the team. The team being the employment agency she owns and runs. So she shows up at Eli's prepared to be his personal assistant. He turns out to be nothing like she expected and while that throws her a bit off at first, she knows exactly how to handle him. And despite the fact that Eli "fires" her repeatedly during the first week, the two of them eventually find their rhythm.

Eli is intrigued by Isabella from the moment she walks into his apartment. She's tough. She doesn't back down. Doesn't look at him differently. And she definitely does not take his crap. She is the perfect woman for him. And everyone sees it, except him. Of course. But since the first time he has returned home, he finds himself interested in someone.

The author touches on some subjects that we might see often in the romance book world and it was handled with humor and care. Now that Eli is home and back with his family, he has to deal with his new life and he finds himself a tad lost. He's not always good at it, but I don't think anyone expected him to be. His family as well as Isabella are they to help him find his way back. He also picks up a project outside of Crane Hotels, that made me say "Huh. Never thought of that before, but it totally makes sense."

I think this is my favorite book of the series. What can I say? I am a sucker for a cranky Alpha. Maybe it's because I am a bit cranky myself...I don't know. But there is nothing better than a cranky, hot guy who knows how to use that to get the woman of his dreams, especially if he doesn't even realize that is what he is doing. I tip my hat to you Jessica Lemmon, because I think Eli is the ultimate cranky Alpha.

EXCERPT

Standing, she smoothed her hands down her pants and flipped her hair. She had planned to quietly finish her work and leave without seeing him again. No such luck. And no hiding that she was heading his way when her heels clicked along the concrete floor.

Well.

The kiss had happened. The button incident had happened. There was no taking it back. Regardless of how either of them felt about it, she was going to continue working here. So. She would deal with the here and now.

Since the sun was shining, Eli’s lair was welcome instead of foreboding. No fire cracked in the hearth today. Also unlike his usual, he wasn’t at his desk. He was at the printer.

“This yours?” He offered a sheet of paper.

“Yes.” She couldn’t keep from explaining. “Pressed the Print button by accident.”

“Mi printer es su printer.”

Isa accepted the document and Eli sank his hands into his jeans pockets, his forearms flexing with the movement.

“I wasn’t—”

“I shouldn’t—” they said at the same time.

He pursed his lips and she looked at her shoes. “Go ahead.” She was going to say, I wasn’t offended when you kissed me, but now that she’d had a millisecond to think it through, maybe she should pretend the kiss hadn’t happened. Which was . . . impossible. Standing this close to him, it’s all she could think about.

“I shouldn’t have ruined your shirt,” he said.

“I dared you to.”

“Why?” His eyebrows compressed along with his lips.

“Because you have accepted the role of beast, but I don’t believe that’s who you are.” She let her gaze linger on his face before tracking down his body. “And because I like a challenge.”

“Do you?” He took a wide step toward her.

She matched his move and took one step closer to him. “Yes. I don’t wilt easily.”

He threaded her hair between his fingers, a look of longing and hurt mingling in his eyes. “I was about to lie and say I shouldn’t have kissed you.”

Shivers climbed her spine as she remembered how firm his lips felt against hers. “Maybe . . . you shouldn’t have stopped.”

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Oh Taggart Crane. Or Tarzan. Or Thor. Or the Viking Billionaire. Or Flex Luthor. Or just plain Tag. Whatever you want to call him, he's freaking AMAZING. Tag is much more laid back and relaxed than his brother Reese, but just as successful. He's a known player and has no plans on settling down. But then he meets Rachel through a pretty hilarious misunderstanding and all bets are off.

When Tag discovers that Rachel has bartender experience and can help him with some of the projects he has going at a few Crane hotels, he enlists her help. Of course this includes a trip to a Crane hotel in Hawaii where the two of them become closer than they ever thought possible. Tag doesn't date and Rachel is just getting out of a relationship that ended terribly. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, but before they know it, they are in one.

I loved Rachel and Tag together. Their relationship was so much fun to watch unfold. Professionally they worked well together and on a personal level they had phenomenal chemistry, so the sex was off the charts hot. They had also had these moments where they were exremely playful. I knew Tag was more laid back than Reese, but I found those moments of playfulness to be a bit surprising. The big, bad, Tarzan-like man is actually a giant teddy bear and you couldn't help but love him!

The third and final book in this series is about Reese and Tag's brother, Eli. We meet Eli in this book and it is unfortunately under some pretty dire circumstances. There were some great moments between the Crane brothers and I look forward to reading Eli's story.

EXCERPT

“Why is it you look like you’re thinking something sinister?” he asked, that eyebrow arcing higher. “And don’t lie to me, Dimples. I have a sixth sense.” She watched his slow smile, white teeth appearing as his trimmed beard parted. Her nether regions buzzed like she’d sat on a vibrating phone.

“I’m surprised . . .” she started, feeling daring. Must be the Kona coffee.

“Because?”

“Because I expected you to induct me into the Mile High Club by now. This is my first private flight.” She looked at him through her lashes, her coy smile in place.

Tag wore an all-out grin, which made her inordinately pleased. Where she was concerned, he wasn’t immune. And she liked that. A lot.

“Excuse me.” Smoothly, he shut his laptop, stood, and walked from cabin to cockpit.

Okay. That was interesting. She hadn’t expected him to leave. Maybe she didn’t have the same power over him as he had over her.

She turned to look out the window, but the nighttime landscape was nothing but blackness. She imagined a sea of clouds and blue skies once the sun rose, anticipating being someplace where the high was above freezing. She wondered what the temperature was on—

“Let’s go.” Her hand was snatched a moment later as Tag pulled her out of her seat and led her to the bedroom.

“Wait,” she said through her laughter as she hustled after him. “What are you doing?”

In the bedroom, he released her, closed the door, and whipped off his shirt. She gasped, her eyes eating up his tanned muscles and bulky arms.

“Making you a member.” He caught the back of her head in his hand and kissed her. She melted beneath his touch. She was hopelessly attracted to him. Just an absolute goner.

When she caught a breath of air, she said, “Where did you go?”

“Told the pilot to take the long way.”

“There’s a longer way to Hawaii?”

“There is now.”

5 Star Review: The Billionaire Bachelor (Billionaire Bad Boys #1) by Jessica Lemmon

Indecent Proposal

Manwhore. That's what the board of directors-and the tabloids-thinks of billionaire bachelor Reese Crane. Ordinarily he couldn't care less, but his playboy past is preventing the board from naming him CEO of Crane Hotels. Nothing-and no one-will keep him from his life's legacy. They want a settled man to lead the company? Then that's exactly what he'll give them.

Merina Van Heusen will do anything to get her parents' funky boutique hotel back-even marry cold-as-ice-but-sexy-as-hell Reese Crane. It's a simple business contract-six months of marriage, absolute secrecy, and the Van Heusen is all hers again. But when sparks fly between them, their passion quickly moves from the boardroom to the bedroom. And soon Merina is living her worst nightmare: falling in love with her husband . . .

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The plot of this book seems simple enough. Reese needs a wife and Merina is the perfect woman to play that wife. Merina doesn't like Reese. He's cranky. Cold. Arrogant. And way too handsome for his own good. Sure, the marriage would be for his benefit, but when he offers her something in return, she agrees.

As Merina and Reese play up their relationship for the press, they start to realize that being married isn't so bad. They even start to enjoy each other's company. Imagine that! They both have these moments of clarity where they feel like their relationship is very real and things between them could actually work. For Merina it gives her hope, but for Reese, it just scares the crap out of him. He ran so hot and cold with her and I wanted to give him a good smack across the head.

One of my favorite moments in the book is when Reese shows up to Merina's wedding dress fitting. He tells himself that he is going because the shop only because it was on the way to his appointment.
Without thinking, he stepped closer to her. She lifted her face to his and the sadness deepened into hurt. He felt it like a punch to the kidney.
He was a fucking idiot. She was a strong woman but she was also a vulnerable woman. For years, his responsibility to the women he was with never extended past one night. He was out of practice for anything deeper.
What he wanted to ask her was if she was having second thoughts. But even if she was, he knew he wouldn’t give her an out. Crane Hotels was his legacy. He needed Merina.
So instead, he said, “The only thing you’re missing is the ring.”
He pulled the felt box from his pocket, the moment weirdly intimate and definitely backward, considering she was already in the dress. “I wasn’t sure what you liked…”
He swallowed past a lump in his throat and cracked the lid on the white gold ring with a princess-cut two-carat diamond.
Merina gasped, touching her chest with one hand, her mouth dropping open. “It’s…oh my God, Reese. It’s beautiful.”
Pride flooded his chest along with that same tight, hot feeling about being responsible for Merina through this ordeal.
“Glad you approve,” he said, pulling the ring from the box. “Matching wedding band will be at the ceremony.”
There was an awkward moment when she reached for the diamond ring at the same time he reached for her hand. “Oh, did you want to…?”
“Let me.”
“Okay.” She let out what sounded like a cautious laugh.
“This makes it official.” Reese plucked the ring from the satin, took her left hand, and slid the band home. “You were right,” he said. “Perfect size six.”
He released her hand and she smiled down at the ring. Her honey-blond hair was tucked behind her ears, her shapely figure accentuated by the dress, arms bare.
“Wow.” She turned toward the mirror to look at the dress again giving him a view of her smooth back. The line of her spine shadowed gently into the low cut of the dress where it then flared out, cupping her ass in a ridiculously sexy way.
He’d lost the strength in his knees once in his life—the moment he’d learned his mother died—but now that familiar weakness returned, threatening to drop him.

But you know, this is all for show. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

As the two of them grow closer, their relationship becomes so much more than just a fake marriage. But both Reese and Merina have been deeply hurt in past relationships and while Merina is trying her hardest to not let that affect her feelings for Reese, he is letting his past pretty much take over his feelings. Not cool Reese. Not cool.

This book was sweet, sexy (the chemistry between them is HOT HOT HOT), emotional, and quite funny (#ReesesRocket anyone?). Reese's brother Tag helped a lot with the humorous parts and I can't wait to read his book! He knew just what to say to Reese to get through his thick skull and I really appreciate that. And brother Eli? We haven't met him yet I can't wait for his book....I mean he's a sensitive marine! SOLD! ;-)

5 Star Review: Return of the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon

He's a mess...

Asher Knight has three constants in his life: music, beautiful women, and a bottle of Jack. He lives for the next gig, the next city, and dreams only of a life spent in front of an arena full of screaming fans. But Asher's nomad ways come to a sudden stop when he learns he's the father of a three-year-old from a past relationship and suddenly this rock star bad boy is forced to put down roots.

Only she can clean up.

Gloria Shields is no one's fool. Sure, the sexual chemistry between her and Asher has always been intense, but she'd never risk giving her heart to a man who has a perfect record for breaking them. Except the man desperate to make things right with his newfound son is nothing like the rock god she's guarded her heart against for years. And it isn't long before she starts to wonder if life with this bad boy might be the best thing that's ever happened to her.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

YES! FINALLY! Asher and Gloria. Jessica teased us throughout this series and I was itching to get my hands on this book. I wanted an epic story and I wasn't disappointedI mean, I already loved him going in, but then seeing him with his son (so cute!) and his adorable dog just made me love him so much more. The dog! I won't give anything away because I think the less you know, the better, but I definitely reached out to the author to be like, "YES! Thank you!"

Asher and Gloria have been circling each other for a long time. It's clear they have feelings for one another and they have even acted on those feelings. These two have a history and Gloria feels as though she can't trust him. But after Asher has a heart to heart with Charlie (yay Charlie!) he realizes that if her wants Gloria, he is going to have to pursue her. So he does. And let's just say he is REALLY good at it.
“Listen, Asher”—she cleared her throat and tore her eyes away from his biceps, which were absolutely delicious and testing the limits of his T-shirt in the most distracting way possible—“I don’t know what you think you’re doing—”
“No, you listen.” He palmed her hip much like Brice had earlier, but unlike Brice, when Asher touched her, her nipples perked up and every inch of her grew warm. Asher’s nearness, one hand gripping her firmly as he looked down at her with dark hunger in his eyes, was so hot she couldn’t think.
The crowd milling around them were having loud, drunken conversations, so he lowered his face to her ear to speak.
“I’m coming for you, Sarge.” His hand moved from her hip to her lower back, his fingers splaying wide and slipping beneath the material of her shirt. “Bet you’ve never had anyone come for you, have you?” His nose moved along her ear, warm breath tickling her skin. “Bet you were a rebellious teen with a nose ring and a bad attitude and all you wanted was to feel good.”
No nose ring, but the rest was scarily accurate.
“Well, guess what, honey?” he continued, his fingertips sizzling on her bare skin. “I’m going to make you feel good. I’m the only one who can.”
He pulled his face away and she had to will her mouth to close. Her teeth clacked together as her brain scrambled to figure out what part she should argue with first. Wrenching a fist around his T-shirt, she tugged him close. A small smile played on his mouth, and his hand went higher beneath her shirt. He was anticipating a kiss, but she wasn’t going to kiss him.
“Listen up, you arrogant bastard.” Anger vibrated through her arms and a charge shot from her toes to the crown of her head. “You don’t get to claim me. I’m not your property. I can do whatever I want.” Because she wanted to wipe that stupid smirk off his face, she added, “And I can do whomever I want.”
His lips flinched, but he didn’t back away, stepping even closer and touching the tip of her nose with his. Her vision was now swimming in dark hair, dark eyes, and the sexiest smirk she’d ever seen.
It’s not sexy. It’s stupid, remember?
But it wasn’t. And the rest of her knew it. Her nipples tightened, her body tingled, and the hand she’d wrapped around his shirt began to sweat…
“You do me, Sarge. No one else,” he said.
I mean....COME ON!!  The sexual energy between these two just rolls off of them in waves and as a reader I love that. Because I knew once they finally get together it will be AMAZING.

Of course it is not an easy road to their happily ever after. While Gloria has settled into Evergreen Cove and considers the quaint little town to be her new home, at first Asher sees it as a part time home. He has a place in California and that's where his band is stationed, but now Asher has a three year old son. A son that he did not know about until recently. So not only is Asher going after Gloria, he is also learning to be a father while dealing with baby mama drama. The longer he sticks around, the more he realizes that maybe he should reconsider that whole "part time home" thing. Unfortunately for him, Gloria doesn't know how she fits into this new life and she is holding onto her own baggage that makes her think that a family isn't in the cards for her. And getting involved with Asher means she gets an instant family!

So things are complicated, luckily they have the rest of the gang for support! They provided much needed pep talks and helped Asher and Gloria make sense of their crazy relationship. And who better to do that than the three couples we have all grown to love? And I loved that Donovan was the voice of reason multiple times. He wouldn't have been my first choice, but he had some very wise words for both of them, at very different stages of their relationship. Those were some of my favorite moments in the book. Well, my favorite non Asher and Gloria sexy times moments. ;-)

I'm a little sad that this series is over, but I look forward to seeing what Jessica comes up with next!

Gloria nodded at Evan, and he and Brice made their way through the crowd—which hadn't thinned even a little despite the band leaving the stage—and walked in the direction of the bar. Gloria figured they'd get back about the time the band took the stage again, which left her with Asher in the interim.

"I didn't realize you were invited," she said over the melee.

"I see that." The corners of his mouth turned down.

"Why did he invite you?" she asked, curious.

"He wants me," Asher said, a bored expression on his face.

"No. He wants me." She pressed her fingers into her chest.

Asher leaned closer to speak to her and it took everything in her not to back away a step. Him close had a way of messing with her equilibrium...even more than the whiskey.

"I meant he wants to sign the band, Sarge. He's probably buttering you up to get to me."

"What?" she asked, slightly offended. "How egotistical are you?"

"I'm not being egotistical," he said. "That's a fact. And you're welcome."

Oh, he was too much. "I'm welcome?"

"Yeah. Now that I'm here, you won't have to touch him. He won't get within three feet of you." Stubble lined his jaw, fire burned in his eyes, and he stood close enough that his body heat blanketed her. "Promise."

"Listen, Asher"—she cleared her throat and tore her eyes away from his biceps, which were absolutely delicious and testing the limits of his T-shirt in the most distracting way possible—"I don't know what you think you're doing—"

My Review

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review.

Morgan is having a very bad 21st birthday. She has just found out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her best friend and as she is walking back home, she encounters Tucker Noscalo. The two of them went to high school together, but Tucker and his brother were considered "bad seeds" and Morgan stayed away despite the fact that Tucker once saved her from some unwanted advances in a school hallway.

Fast forward a few years later to where Tucker has just been released from jail and Morgan is trying to forget her horrible birthday. Morgan tries to talk to Tucker and at first he wants nothing to do with her, but then remembers that her father is a lawyer and that is exactly what he needs. A lawyer to help bring his father down. Why? Well, you'll just have to read the book.

Through a chain of unfortunate events Morgan ends up alone with Tucker in a cabin in the woods.  Yes, it was against her will, but that was an accident. Kind of. At first she is scared, but over the course of a few days, Tucker and Morgan not only get to know each other, but actually develop real feelings for each other. Tucker tried his best to keep Morgan at an arm's length and they get off to a very rough start, but after a while Morgan wears him down. The two actually start to talk and Tucker explains everything. He asks for Morgan's help and she says yes.

I loved that Morgan was able to break down the walls that Tucker spent years building. She figures out that he is extremely vulnerable. He just needs someone to listen to him and be patient with him. When Tucker realized that person is Morgan, he surrenders to her and allows her to see the real him. But Tucker is also keeping a terrible secret that he doesn't want anyone to know, especially Morgan. But Morgan is a stubborn woman and she won't let anything or anyone make Tucker feel like he isn't worth something. And she wants to help him get the justice he deserves.

This book is a bit darker than the author's other books and it tackles a very serious subject, but underneath it all there is a lovely romance. Morgan was always attracted to Tucker, but his bad boy reputation made him off limits to her. And Tucker thought Morgan and her good girl image as extremely off limits to him. But once it is just the two of them, hiding away in a cabin in the woods, all bets are off.

The author was able to take a situation that was not all prime for romance and turn it into a sweet love story. I found Tucker to be extremely swoonworthy (especially at the end...OH MY GOD!!) and I was keeping my fingers crossed that everything would work out. This is definitely worth the read.
