BLOG TOUR, 5 STAR REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: My Perfect Mistake (Over the Top #1) by Kelly Siskind

About MY PERFECT MISTAKE

What happens in Aspen is definitely not staying in Aspen . . .

A girls' trip to Aspen was exactly what Shay needed to forget about her toxic ex-boyfriend. She's got her girls, pristine slopes for skiing, and hot guys everywhere. Of course, her epic self-rediscovery goes completely to hell when a wild (and deliciously hot) skier knocks Shay on her ass . . . and war is declared.

Kolton doesn't know what it is about Shay that makes him lose it. Not just his cool---although she does have an unholy gift for that---but his restraint. When anger gives way to explosive chemistry, they're both shaken with the intensity of it. But somewhere between lust and hate, Kolton and Shay realize they could have something real . . . if they don't kill each other first.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So this book cemented the fact that Kelly is a must read author for me. Her debut book, Chasing Crazy, was so freaking good and as soon as I saw she was coming out with a new series, I knew I had to read it.

Shay is on a ski trip with her friends and she "meets" Kolton after they almost collide on the ski slope. They exchange insults and then go on their merry way. Later that night when Shay and her friends, Lily and Raven, are walking home back from the bar, they see the two guys that they had met earlier that day. They knock on the door of their condo door and Shay comes face to to face with Kolton. Turns out he is the best friend of Nico and Sawyer, the guys Lily and Raven met earlier. On the outside Shay and Kolton seem to despise each other, but a quick round of extremely hot sex in the bathroom tells another story. Sure, they call each other "Bitch" and "Asshole," but it is very obvious that there is more between them than hate.

Kolton and Shay run into each other again (this time while eating) what ensues is the two of them hanging out and having sex (Like a lot of sex. Hot, awesome sex.) for the duration of their trip:
We just don’t spend much time talking. Arguing, yes. Groping, fuck yeah. Talking, limited. I’ve glimpsed easygoing Shay. When we had to ride the lift with a couple of ski-school kids, she was sweet and charming and chatted with them the whole way. When the six of us went out last night, she joked with Raven and Lily, her quick wit and raspy laugh infectious. But with me, the second she relaxes and lets me in, I say or do something wrong. Then she bites and I bark, and we can’t grope each other fast enough.
They grow to actually like each other and even manage to form a kind of friendship. By the time Shay and Kolton leave to go home, they find themselves wishing they had more time to spend together. And once they are home, they both find that they are constantly thinking about the other person. When a business opportunity comes up that will benefit both Shay and Kolton, they two of them are once again thrown together. Shay wants to keep things professional, but Kolton has other ideas. When he comes through for Shay when she needs some help, they find themselves in close quarters and the sparks REALLY fly.

This book is a bit angsty. Both Shay and Kolton are dealing with their own person demons, but also trying to find common ground to make their relationship work. Shay doesn't want to lose herself in another relationship and at times she lets that get in the way of her true feelings for Kolton. And Kolton is doing his best to show Shay that they could make things work, but she is so damn stubborn. Perfect, they are not. They both made choices that made me want to reach into the book and knock their heads together, but yet I understood why they made the choices they did.

Luckily this book isn't all about the drama though. There is plenty of romance (Kolton BROUGHT IT), humor and also some really sweet moments between Shay and Kolton.
I unlace my fingers from Kolton’s hand and write on his palm.
A-S-S-H-O-L-E
He smiles, a dimple sinking into his cheek. “Are you trying to tell me something?”
I smile, too. My whole face, my body, feeling warmer than it should on the snow. “As a kid, I used to play this game with my mom. She’d spell words , and I’d have to guess what she wrote. Usually when I was sick. But I loved it. Loved her hands tracing along my back. It was the best part about having a fever. That and missing school.”
He takes my hand then, his cool fingertip gliding over my palm, my skin still damp and tepid from pressing against his.
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L
Heat shoots through me, like I’m a Canada Day sparkler, colored flames burning bright. The sensation concentrates below my ribs, as if trying to expand. Not wanting to lose this feeling, I take control. I feather my index finger across the expanse of his upturned palm.
Me: S-E-X-Y
Him: F-I-E-R-C-E
Me: U-N-E-X-P-E-C-T-E-D
Him: F-A-S-C-I-N-A-T-E-D
I want to write all over him now, on his powerful forearms, his muscular thighs, the breadth of his chest. Is his heart beating as fast as mine? Has he turned into a sparkler, too?
And that is early in the book, when they don't really like each other. So just imagine what happens when they do!  ;-)

I NEED the rest of this series!  Next we get Lily and Sawyer's story. In this book, they form a very nice working relationship, but it is obvious that there is more to it. Lily is in a dead end relationship and the excerpt at the end of this book that tells us that that is about to change. And while I am looking forward to Lily and Sawyer's story, I can't wait for Raven and (the mysterious) Nico's book! Something went down with these two and I can't wait to find out! I need answers Kelly!  ;-)
