I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the first book in this series and I couldn't wait to read this one. I haven't read that many teacher/student books, but this is the second one I have read recently and I really enjoyed it.
We met Blair in the first book of this series. She's been going through a rough time. Daughter of a senator. Jilted bride. Below average law student. And it's not that I am glad she is all of these things, but it was nice to see that she wasn't the perfect person everyone thought or wanted her to be. She definitely had her flaws. Unfortunately for her, her parents are unhappy about the way things are going, but what I liked about Blair is that she doesn't care. She is finally living her life on her own terms. And one of those terms is attending a subpar law school. And even though her parents think she is out of her mind, Blair doesn't give two craps. She knows she is not a good student, she is okay with it and I admired her for that.
When the book starts, Blair is sitting in Graydon Canter's class. She hates this class. For some reason he calls on her ALL THE TIME, which doesn't seem to happen in her other classes. It doesn't help that he is extremely good looking and just being in the same room with him makes Blair nervous. But Blair, god bless her, manages to handle everything he gives her, which only makes her even more interesting in Graydon's eyes.
Graydon. What can I say about him? He's coming off of a horrible year. Basically forced to teach for a year, he is trying to get through it with no issues, but then Blair shows up in his class. From the moment he saw Blair, he was fascinated by her. Drawn to her. When they have to work together he does his best to keep his feelings hidden, but Blair is the girl for him. When they are together he get to see the real Blair and he wants nothing more than to be the man he think she deserves.
Graydon & Blair were HOT. And it wasn't just because it was a teacher/student thing. They had ridiculous chemistry and once they had a little one on one time, they both felt it. They try to keep things professional and deny their feelings, but after a while they just can't do it anymore. Just when things seem to be going well, everything falls apart. Graydon had his own demons to battle and he let's that get in the way of his happiness and it takes a visit from Blair's sisters to knock some sense into him.
And speaking of Blair's sisters, Kate, who appears in this book is front and center in the next book Falling for Danger. The author sets up the storyline toward the end of this book and I am looking forward to reading it. I actually look forward to reading any future books the author writes.
