My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review. 

I won’t lie. This book was difficult to read at times. It’s a story about three extremely flawed people and there were moments when I did not like any of them. I got frustrated with their choices and wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into them. There were even times when I felt that none of them deserved to be happy.

But I kept reading. Kandi’s words sucked me into the story and wouldn’t let me go. I had to find out how everything played out. And I usually stay away from love triangle stories, but after reading the first book I had to read this one. I’ve been cheated on and I’ve cheated. It was also a long time ago and I like to think that I’ve become a better person since then. I think my past experience helped me get through this book without passing any hard judgements on the characters. Some readers have a hard line about certain things happening in books and I know that some won’t read this book because of it or if they do, they will give it a low rating.

But that doesn't mean that Kandi hasn't given us a beautiful story. Everything about it seemed so real to me. Going in I had thoughts on how things would probably play out and who should end up together. I will not say if I was right or not, but I will say that throughout the course of the book my feelings changed more than once and I was satisfied with the ending. Even if I ended up sobbing in the middle of a Whole Foods. It happens.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review. 

On the surface, everything looks good in Charlie’s life. She has a job that she absolutely loves, a happy marriage and a supportive family. But underneath it all, her marriage is holding on by a thread. I won’t go into details, but I will say that the reasons are both heartbreaking and infuriating. So when someone from her past, who has an equally heartbreaking past, reappears, certain things start to become very clear to her. She is forced to take a real a look at her life and make a choice that will ultimately change everything.

Kandi is one of those writers that makes you feel all the things when you read one of her books. Whether it’s happy or sad, her words draw you into the story and before you know it, you are completely invested in the characters. I have my own feelings as to how i want things to play out and I can’t wait to read the next part to find out what happens. I’m sure Kandi won’t make it easy for both the characters as well as us readers.

FYI - This book is part 1 of a duet, so it does end on a sort of cliffhanger. Not an “OMG. I didn’t see that coming!” way but more like a “Gah! I REALLY need to know what happens next!” way.
