RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: Exposed (VIP #4) by Kristen Callihan

Exposed (VIP #4) by Kristen Callihan is now live!

Brenna

There are some people in life who know exactly how to push your buttons. For me, it’s Rye Peterson. We can’t spend more than ten minutes together before we’re at each other’s throats, which makes working together that much harder. Rye is the bassist for Kill John, the biggest rock band in the world, and I am his publicist. It doesn’t help that the man is gorgeous, funny, talented, and…never takes anything seriously. Avoidance is key.

But everything changes when he overhears something he shouldn’t: a confession made in a moment of weakness. Now the man I’ve tried so hard to ignore is offering me the greatest temptation of all—him.

Rye

Brenna James is the one. The one I can’t have. The one I can’t get out of my mind. Believe me, I’ve tried; the woman loathes me. I managed well enough—until I heard her say she’s as lonely as I am. That she needed to be touched, held, satisfied. And I could no longer deny the truth: I wanted to be the one to give her what she craved.

I convinced her that it would just be sex, mutual satisfaction with nothing deeper. But the moment I have her, she becomes my world. I’ve never given her a good reason to trust me before. Now, I’ve got to show Brenna that we’re so much better together than we ever were apart.

Things are going to get messy. But getting messy with Brenna is what I do best.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I love every single member of Kill John and their significant others. And I absolutely love this series. I recently reread it. Not because this book was coming out, because it just seemed like a great idea. Everything about this series is...*chef's kiss*.

We waited a long time for this book to come out and the pay off was excellent! We've witnessed Rye and Brenna's banter throughout the series and it was refreshing to see them actually get along. The banter was still there, but there is a shift in their relationship.

Rye overhears Brenna admit that she's lonely and looking for a very specific type of partner and he almost surprises himself with how much he wants to be that person. It takes a little bit of convincing to make Brenna see that this is a good idea, but she eventually gives in.

I really enjoyed Brenna & Rye's dynamic and loved them as a couple. Their arrangement leads to a lot of feelings and having to face what they really want in life. I always knew that there was more to their feelings than just the back and forth we are used to and this book just laid everything right out.

This book is a must read for fans of the VIP series. And if you haven't started it, but for some reason are reading this, get thee to your retailer of choice and get to know the men of Kill John!

BLOG TOUR & 5 STAR REVIEW: Fall (VIP #3) by Kristen Callihan

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

EXCERPT

The air between us shifts. I’m filled with a strange giddiness, wanting to laugh for the fun of it, but I’m also too warm, my limbs oddly heavy as if simple movements might be too much for me.

His tone turns soft and cajoling, teasing the truth out of me. “Are you going to tell me what you do?” When I say nothing, the corners of his eyes crinkle. “I see. You’re going to torture me a bit.”

The warm, fuzzy feeling grows as I shrug. “Torture feels apropos in this scenario.”

He hums again, taking another step toward me. “What makes you think I won’t like being tortured by you?”

The heat of his body and the scent of his skin makes my head light and my pulse pound. How did it get to this point where the highlight of my day is flirting with Jax Blackwood? Despite the thrill, I know I’m in over my head. I haven’t gone out on a date in months because I form attachments, I get emotional, and then I hurt when they inevitably leave. And this man will leave. He is as bright and fleeting as a camera flash. I’ll be left with the image of him seared into my memory and nothing more.

I tell myself all of this, the voice in my head as stern as possible. But it doesn’t make me back away. It doesn’t stop my body from somehow straining toward his without even moving. Because it might be stupid of me, but I want to feel something that isn’t planned. Something, for however briefly, that’s real.

He’s too attuned to me not to notice. John’s lids lower as his attention slides down my body before easing back up to my face. Slowly, he rests his forearm on the wall beside my head. “Tell me, Stella,” he murmurs.

“No,” I whisper back, flirting, even though I shouldn’t.

His biceps bunch as he leans in, a smile dancing on his lips. “Tell.”

My breasts graze his chest, and I feel it in my toes.

“You’re crowding me.” I hate how breathy I sound.

“Can’t help it.” His voice is a rumble, the heat of his breath playing over my skin. He ducks his head, drawing close until our lips nearly brush, and when he speaks again, his tone is almost conversational, except for the husky quality that touches deep within my core. “You smell like strawberries. Fucking delicious.”

My lids flutter, and I swallow hard. “Ordinarily, I’d call you out on that cliché but since I’ve been eating strawberries, you aren’t exactly wrong.”

His chuckle is slow and easy, as he eases back and his gaze slowly travels over my face. “Were they sweet, Stella Button?”

He’s looking at my mouth like he might try to find out. My lips tremble in response, and John tracks the movement, his breathing getting deeper, faster. “You have two freckles on your lips. One on the top lip and one on the bottom corner.”

Those damn freckles. They were the bane of my adolescence. I hid them with lipstick and silently cursed whenever someone mentioned them.

Freckles don’t have any feelings, but I swear it’s as if he’s touching them.

“You’re just noticing this?” I try to make it sound like a joke, but it comes out weak and thready.

His own lips quirk. “Oh, I noticed. It’s distracting as hell. They’re like two little dots of butter toffee. Makes me want to lick them, get a taste.”

Oh, God. Lick them, please. I can almost feel it. I want to feel it.

No. Bad Stella. Behave.

John’s lips part a fraction like he just might take that taste.

“Back off,” I whisper. And yet somehow my traitorous hands find their way to his sides, running over the waistband of his jeans, holding him there.

John makes a sound deep in his throat and tilts his hips, pressing them against mine. A distinctly thick bulge nudges my belly. Both of us lose a breath, and then he’s closer, his cheek touching my temple. “You’ll have to let me go first.”

My thumbs slide under the edge of his shirt and find smooth, taut skin. A tremor goes through his body. I try to think, search for what the hell we’ve been talking about.

His lips brush the crest of my cheek as he murmurs against my skin. “Tell me what you do, Stella. You know you want to.”

My smile feels illicit. Somehow the action is directly tied to all my happy parts, making them draw hot and tight. “I don’t think I do.”

Another hum. “Liar. You’re dying to.”

My Review

Stella and Jax’s meet cute in this book is A+. It was adorable and made me laugh. And the next time a blizzard comes to NYC, I’m going to make sure I go to the supermarket to buy ice cream.

Stella can’t believe her luck when she lands a sweet pet sitting job. She gets to live in a fabulous NYC penthouse and the timing couldn’t be better. But she gets the surprise of her life when she finds out her neighbor is someone she has actually met before (see the aforementioned A+ meet cute), the super famous Jax Blackwood.

Jax and the boys of Kill John are taking a break. When he meets Stella, he is taken aback by how much she intrigues him. At first has no idea who Jax is, but even once she learns, she doesn't let that bother her. She wants to know John (aka his real name) and he not only likes that, he appreciates it.

I loved this book. I loved Stella. I loved Jax. I loved them as a couple. It takes a bit to get to that point, but once it does, it is so good. But even before they get to that point, there are so many great "couple" moments between them. Stella was just so good for him. She calms him in a way he didn't know was possible. One of the subplots of the story is Jax dealing with his depression. He goes through lots of ups and downs and there were moments where my heart broke for him, I could totally relate and I cried some ugly tears.

This is definitely my favorite book of the series. From the moment I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I just loved seeing the Kill John crew again. When they are all together they are a fun loving group of guys and they made me laugh out loud more than once. There's such a sense of camaraderie between them that I really enjoyed.

REVIEW BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: Managed (VIP #2) by Kristen Callihan

It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big...ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat down next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…
My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

(me, after finishing this book)

I love me a sexy Brit. But give me an uptight, sexy Brit that finally lets loose and SWEET BABY JESUS. Gabriel freaking Scott. Talk about a surprise!!

Gabriel and Sophie meet on a flight to London. He boards the plane thinking he has two whole seats to himself, but then he sees Sophie sitting in one of those seats. He quickly realizes that he is not going to get the quiet flight he was hoping for and he's very unhappy. He gives her the nickname Chatty Girl and he becomes her Sunshine and the rest, as they say, is history. A lot happens on that flight and I won't go into it because it is so good and you must experience it for yourself, but the most important thing is that that flight is the starting point for all things Sunshine and Chatty Girl.

UGH! I LOVED THEM SO MUCH. Gabriel definitely met his match with Sophie. The man has reasons for being the uptight, serious guy he is today. He had a shitty upbringing, but luckily for him he met the Kill John guys while away at boarding school and they became not only his friends, but also his family. He's now their manager and is extremely successful. Things seem to be going great, but then he meets Sophie and he realizes just how not okay he was. His world gets tilted on it's axis and pretty much everyone around him notices the effect Sophie has on him. She knocks down those walls he has built up over the years and with her help, starts to feel again. Of course he doesn't like it at first, but when it comes to Sophie he is helpless and to be honest it's just best that he let her take over.

And Sophie. This woman is definitely one of my favorite ladies I've read in a long time. She is a bad ass woman. She's learned from her mistakes in the past and just wants to move forward. I loved how she handled Gabriel and all of his moods and never let him get away with anything. She was excactly what he needed and she came to him at a time when he needed her the most.

The banter in this book! I am a huge fan banter. Banter between friends. Banter between enemies. Banter between family members. Banter between lovers. I love it all. And what Sophie and Gabriel had was some intense foreplay disguised as banter, which in my opinion, is the best kind of banter. These two are HOT HOT HOT. When Gabriel finally gives in and lets loose...WOW. I found myself needing a cold shower more than once.

This book is one of the best I've read this year. I loved EVERYTHING about it. The storyline never dragged and there were a few small twists in the plot that I never saw coming. One even actually made me quite jealous of Sophie. I mean talk about an offer you can't refuse. In this book we also get to know more about the guys in Kill John and now I can't wait to get the rest of the series!

EXCERPT

In all this time, I had yet to see Gabriel without a shirt. He hides his body like a pious Victorian, never letting me see anything other than him fully dressed and polished. Now I know why. Had he let me get a glimpse, I might never have been able to form a coherent thought around him.

This man’s chest is a work of art. It’s every fantasy I’ve had about a man’s body made real. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but I’m not about to complain. God, he looks touchable. Olive skin, tight little brownish nipples, a smattering of dark chest hair over the most incredibly honed—

“You’re staring.” His tone is dry.

“Yes, I am.” I drag my eyes up and find his expression bemused.

A thick brow lifts. I try to mimic the look and fail when both of my brows lift as one. His lips twitch in amusement.

He shifts his weight, causing his abs to clench. Good Lord. He’s not some overdeveloped gym worshiper, just solid and strong, that perfect balance between defined musculature and healthy male—

“You’re still staring, Sophie.”

“You think it’s easy looking away from all this splendor?” I ask his belly button, licking my lips when he huffs out a laugh and just a little bit more of his lower abs are revealed, slanting toward the thick bulge of his cock, which is lamentably hidden behind his slacks.

“You’re impossible,” he mutters, though there is humor in his voice. He strolls farther into the room and then practically kills me when he sits in one of the low-slung armchairs. That body, sprawled out on display, those thick, long thighs braced as if to take me in his lap—it’s too much.

I want to straddle him and lick my way from the hollow of his throat to the tip of his cock.

He eyes me as if he knows what I’m thinking, and the air thickens. So many things we left unsaid. I’m remembering his lips now, surprisingly soft, but strong with purpose.

From the way his lids lower, I wonder if he’s remembering things as well. But he doesn’t move. Tension glides over his body and snakes around the room. I feel it in my throat and down my spine. We’re closing up again, retreating.

Slowly, I toe off my shoes and set my gear down, never breaking eye contact. “I was being completely honest,” I tell him. “I see you like this and I want to stare forever.”

He snorts, shaking his head even as he rests his temple on his knuckles. “What do you mean ‘like this’?”

“Undone.”

He tenses. It does lovely things to that chest. I focus on his face, mainly to maintain some semblance of decorum.

“You think this is me undone?” he asks quietly.

“It’s a start.” I reach for my camera bag. “Will you let me photograph you?”

There is safety to be found with the camera between us. A way for both of us to hide until we’re comfortable around each other again.

“You’re serious?”

“You sound surprised.” Holding my camera, I sit in the sofa opposite him. “Don’t tell me no one has asked to take your picture before.”

“They’ve asked. I never saw the point.” He shrugs. “I’m not the story.”

You’re my story. You always were.

“This is just for me,” I say instead. “No one else.”

His shrewd gaze pins me. “Why do you want this?”

So I can have a bit of you forever. “Pictures capture moments in time. I want this one—when you finally let me see a sliver of the man behind the clothes.”

His nostrils flare on an indrawn breath, and he slowly lets it out. When he speaks, his voice is a rasp. “Take the pictures.”

EXCERPT

I stroll toward the bedroom but come to an abrupt halt at the threshold. For a second, I can only gape at the sight that greets me. It’s so shocking, I turn around to check whether there are cameras rolling and I’m being punked.

“Why are you looking about like that?” Gabriel drawls, not taking his eyes from the TV.

“Just checking to make sure I hadn’t wandered into an alternate reality.”

“Amusing as always, Darling.”

Who could blame me for being suspicious? Gabriel Scott is out of his suit and wearing a soft, gray long-sleeve thermal and black sweats. This is shocking enough—but at least I’ve seen it before. The fact that he’s lounging in his bed, while eating some sort of dessert out of a bowl, is what has me flabbergasted.

“You’re staring,” he says dryly as he…

“Are you watching Buffy?” My voice has a tinge of a squeal.

He rolls his eyes. “Deal with it.”

“I’m just so…” My hand flutters to my chest. “Are you sure I’m not being punked?”

A snort escapes him. “You’re not famous, so no. I, on the other hand, have my moments of doubt that you aren’t here to punk me.”

I’m so happy, I have to fight grinning like a loon as I kick off my shoes and crawl onto the end of the bed. “If I were to punk you, I’d change out all your suits for polyester.”

At that, his eyes finally slide to mine, and his skin actually pales. “That’s just cruel, Darling.”

“Stop calling me that.” I steal his spoon.

“It’s your name.”

“Are you sure that’s what you’re calling me by?” I ask suspiciously, as he moves his bowl out of reach.

“What else would I be doing?” There’s a glint in his eye that leads me to answer in a sing-song voice.

“A term of endearment? Declaring your undying lurve for me.”

His nose wrinkles. “You’re going to put me off my pudding.”

“Pudding? Is that what you’re eating?” I lunge for the bowl, but he’s too quick, and I end up sprawled across his chest.

We both go still, me clutching the spoon in one hand, my other palm pressed against the firm swell of his pec, him with one arm still outstretched, his other one pinned beneath me.

His breathing goes deep and strong as he peers down at me. My attention drifts to his lips, beautifully sculpted and softly parted. How would he kiss? Would he start off slow, taking little nibbles, testing the waters? Or would he be the type to go all in, possess my mouth with his?

Heat floods my body, fluttering through my belly.

Gabriel’s lids lower, and his breath catches.

In the background, someone is shouting Buffy’s name. It’s enough to snap me out of whatever fog that touching Gabriel has pulled me into.

“You smell like apple pie,” I whisper inanely.

His gaze darts from my mouth to my eyes. “It’s crumble. Apple crumble.”

“Why did you call it pudding?”

“It’s what we Brits call dessert.” He’s still staring at my mouth. Dessert indeed.

My lips part, sheer lust making them plump. “Give me a bite.”

With an audible swallow, he slowly takes the spoon from my hand. I don’t look away from his eyes as he scoops up a bit of the crumble.

The spoon shakes just a little. Cool metal slides over my lower lip, and hot crumble fills my mouth. I barely suppress a moan, my lips closing around the spoon as he slowly draws it back out. He grunts in response, a short, helpless sort of sound that he quickly smothers.

5 STAR REVIEW & EXCERPT: Idol (VIP #1) by Kristen Callihan

IDOL
VIP SERIES
By Kristen Callihan
Release Day: June 7, 2016

Libby

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave m
ore.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?

Killian
As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse —and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed.

Everything.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I love when a character takes me by surprise. I had some preconceived notions about Killian based on just the synopsis, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

Killian is one of the biggest rock stars in the world. Libby has no idea who he is when he shows up passed out on her lawn, but she brings him into her home and takes care of him. Turns out Killian is renting the house next door and despite getting off to a rough start, the two become friends (mind you Libby still doesn't know who he is) and they start spending pretty much all of their time together. They revel in teasing each other and doing every day normal things like gardening. She does eventually find out who he is and after a brief awkward phase, they go back to their easy going relationship. One night Killian hear Libby singing and playing the guitar and that changes everything. They start to play together on a regular basis and they even start to write music. Before they know it a couple months have passed and Killian needs to get back to the band. Libby has a big decision to make and their relationship is forever transformed.

God, I loved Killian. He was so not the rock star I expected him to be. He loved the fact that Libby didn't recognize him and treated him like she would anyone else. They formed a fast friendship that was unlike anything either of them had experienced before. They had amazing chemistry and while it was a slow burn in terms of their physical relationship, once they got there it was off the charts hot! Killian was so freaking sweet pretty much all the time and when he found out that Libby was a closet musician he made it his mission to bring out that side of her. As as much as she enjoyed it, being with Killian and playing music with him, brought out some truths she was not expecting. But he was extremely supportive of her and at one point sacrifices his own happiness so she can find hers.

I can't wait for the rest of this series! The author did a great job of introducing the rest of the band as well as their manager Scottie. His book is next, but Killian's bandmate Rye really caught my attention. He is described a being "built like a linebacker with the energy of a puppy" and has a thing for Killian's cousin, who is their PR rep. Uhhhh...SIGN ME UP!

EXCERPT

“You know,” I say conversationally, as I kick back, “I want to fuck you right now.”

Libby jerks as if pinched and sits a little straighter, before getting a hold of herself and slouching as if she’s completely chill. Cute.

She gives me a smirk and sips her water before drawling, “And what? Mark your territory? Assert your manly dominance?”

“Yep.” I slide my gaze to hers. “But mostly I just want to fuck you all the time.”

God, I love the way her lips part and body flushes with heat. So subtle, but there all the same. It makes me hard as steel, my balls squeezing tight. I don’t look at her but pretend I’m observing the room. The lights are dimming for the movie now, the empty chairs in front of us obscuring our lower halves.

Slowly my hand falls to space between us and smooths along her hip. She delicately shivers as my fingers trace down her thigh.

“What about you,” I murmur, lightly toying with her skirt in the darkening room. “You want to fuck me, baby doll?”

“Right now, I want to kick you,” she gets out between clenched teeth. “Keep your hands to yourself. There are nosy ass people everywhere.”

“They’re all watching the movie. Not us.” Focusing on the screen, I keep my expression neutral as I ease my hand under her skirt. Her skin is smooth and warm. The movie starts in a blast of music and the familiar old logo as I trace over her knee and up her soft thigh. “And that wasn’t a ‘no.’”

She makes a cute growl in the back of her throat, but her legs part just enough to give me room to delve between them. Her inner thighs are hot and damp, and my cock twitches.

The storyline rolls along, my touch idly roams. Libby remains utterly still but I can practically feel the tension vibrating within her. When the tip of my finger skims the crease where her thigh meets her hip, her breath catches, legs parting wider.

“Have I mentioned how much I appreciated this new skirt-filled wardrobe?” I whisper, lightly drawing circles along her skin.

“Brenna’s idea.” Her hips shift just a bit, following my touch. “Right now, I’m missing my shorts.”

I smile, my eyes on the screen, my fingers drifting to the edge of her panties. “Later, you can put them on and we’ll play ‘Fuck the Farmer’s Daughter.’”

She grunts, a stifled laugh, which turns to a strangled whimper when I pluck her panties. Her voice turns breathy. “I’m trying to watch the damn movie. I’m not interested in fooling around.” She moves a tiny fraction, nudging against my finger.

In the dark, I grin, heat and lust pulling my abs tight. “I’m sorry,” I say, not sorry at all, “But I don’t believe you. I’m gonna have to check.”
