BLOG TOUR & 5 STAR REVIEW: Rebel (Renegades #3) by Rebecca Yarros

We are so excited to be sharing Rebecca Yarros's REBEL with you today! REBEL is the third standalone in the Renegades series and is out now--hurry and grab your copy today!

She’s Penna Carstairs.
The Renegade they call Rebel.
FMX-treme Magazine’s sexiest female athlete of the year.
There’s no rule in extreme sports she hasn’t broken,
No gender barrier she hasn’t demolished.

She’s the woman I met in a bar in Vegas.
The woman I illegally BASE jumped for.
The woman I spent one insane, incredible night with.
But now I’m screwed.
Or rather…not screwed.

Because the woman I can’t get out of my head is the one woman I can never touch again.
I’m Dr. Cruz Delgado—the youngest professor on this campus,
And Penelope Carstairs just walked into my class.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Listen y'all. Josh Walker will always be my #1 Rebecca Yarros man but holy shit. Cruz is a VERY close second. From the moment he left met Penna I knew that he was going to be the ultimate book boyfriend.

Penna and Cruz meet in Vegas. Penna is about to do something she shouldn't and when her partner in crime is unavailable she literally picks the person sitting next to her. Cruz. They had been flirting only minutes before and they are both intrigued with each other. Penna is still dealing with the fallout from her sister's betrayal is trying to her back to her old self. Cruz is on a kind of last hurrah trip with his buddies and is up for anything. Their attraction is instantaneous and the chemistry is off the charts.

Their night is going perfectly until suddenly it isn't and they are both sure they will never see each other again. So imagine both of their surprises when Penna shows up for class and Cruz is her teacher. Yes. HER TEACHER. I mean, yes I knew that was coming but still. The night they had together was so freaking hot, despite the fact that they never really got to the good stuff. Talk about delayed gratification!

God, I love these two. Separately they are amazing. Penna is such a badass. Yes, she is struggling a bit, but her night with Cruz helped move her along to discovering her old self. And let's be honest here, Cruz might be one of the best book boyfriends I have ever read. He is only super sweet and ridiculously hot, but he is a genuine person and may as well have the words "self sacrifice" tattooed on his face. I won't go into what I mean exactly, but trust me when I saw that it will just make you love Cruz even more. *sigh* But then put these two together and you have one smoking hot couple. When they are together the only thing that matters is each other and no matter how hard they try to deny their feelings for each other, they are just too darn strong. So of course this gives way for an amazing story.

I'm sad to see this series end. I love all the Renegades and I looked forward to seeing what crazy stunts they came up with next. But Rebecca manages to tie everything together quite nice and gives the readers an epilogue for the ages. I loved it so much. Fans of the Renegades will leave this series completely satisfied.

EXCERPT

“Oh God, don’t do that.”

“Do what?”

“That.” He pointed toward my mouth. “Everything I told you in Vegas is still true. You’re still gorgeous, still sexy as hell, still everything that draws me in like a damned magnet, but you’re also everything I can’t have. Don’t you get that? When you pull shit like that on the dance floor, you successfully drive me batshit crazy, watching you in some guy’s arms.” A small laugh escaped him. “Like that kid has any idea what to do with you if he actually managed to catch you.”

“And you do?”

His eyes darkened. “Don’t challenge me like that.”

The tension stretched between us for a quiet moment until I broke the silence. “I didn’t kiss him.”

“I’m well aware, because if you had, I’m not sure if I could have let him walk out of here, and that’s dangerous, Penelope. You are dangerous to me.”

“I’m sorry,” I said truthfully. “Logically, I know nothing can happen between us. I get it. But I see you, and all I can think about is the way you kissed me in Vegas. The way you touched me. I can’t just erase those memories, Cruz. Like I said, somehow you make me do stupid things.”

“You? I make you do stupid things?” he nearly yelled, and I was thankful for the loud, driving beat of the music beyond the office doors. “Woman, I got into a strange car for you. Illegally BASE jumped off a Ferris wheel to stay close to you. Went to jail for you, and I make you do stupid things?”

He stalked forward, his movements smooth like a predator, and a low hum filled my stomach, growing stronger with every step he took.

“I let you stay in my class. Stupid. I look for every reason to run into you, while simultaneously praying you’ll stay far away because I need this job. Stupid. I take one look at you in that fucking dress, and I’m so hard I’m afraid I can’t hide it in a room full of students. Stupid. I can’t stop thinking about the way you taste, the way you open up under me, the way your nails left little half-moons in my shoulders when I found how wet you were for me.”

If he got his hands anywhere near me, he’d find out I was just as wet now. God, his words were the biggest turn-on I’d ever experienced. Next to his abs. Or his arms. Or his mouth. Crap, the man was one giant sex package begging to be unwrapped.

“Cruz,” I whispered as he cupped my face with one hand, his thumb rubbing over my lower lip, while he caged me against the desk with the other.

My tongue licked across the tip of his finger, unable to help myself.

“God, Penelope. You could cost me everything, and yet I’m still in here with you. And this might be the worst choice of all.”

His mouth met mine in a kiss that sent my senses reeling. His tongue swept in, claiming every curve he might have missed last time, until it felt like my mouth belonged to him.

EXCERPT

“Welcome to Latin American History.”

At that deep, lightly accented voice, my pen fell to the paper, as useless as my brain.

“This class will also serve as your Study At Sea seminar, which means I have the joy of getting to know each of you very well over the next three months since you’ll be writing a thirty-page thesis for me.”

The class groaned, and I slowly dragged my eyes from the paper, past the neck of the red-haired boy in front of me, to the man who stood at the head of our class, casually leaning against his desk. I took in the way his pants hugged his hips, the contrast of his rolled white button-down against his tanned skin, and the loose green tie at his throat. My gaze caught on his lips, the strong line of his nose and cheekbones, to the melty chocolate eyes that were focused on the other side of the room as he addressed the students there. His hair looked like he’d run his hands through it more than a few times, and his teeth flashed white when he grinned, those panty-dissolving dimples appearing.

My heart stopped beating and my breath froze in my lungs, as if the slightest motion would make him disappear. A rush of heat flushed my skin, and the knot in my chest loosened, unraveling as surely as my body had the last time I’d seen him.

“So let’s get started, shall we? I just flew in from the States today, but I’ll be sure to learn all of your names by the end of the week. Now if you’ll let me have this moment, I’ve been waiting eight years to say it— My name is Dr. Delgado.”

Two thoughts slammed into me simultaneously.

One—Delgado. At least now I knew his last name. Two—Holy. Fucking. Shit. Cruz was my professor.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Landon Rhodes. Renegade. Supernova. Casanova. Or just plain Nova. He is all of those things. But he wasn't always Casanova. Once upon a time he was a guy in love. Then everything fell apart and he broke the heart of the person he loved the most. Now it is a little over two years later and he is about to come face to face with that person and he wants nothing more than to make things right.

We previously knew Rachel as Leah's awesome best friend and the one who helped bring her back to life. Now we get to know more about her and let me tell you, Rachel is a total BADASS. She fit right in with the Renegade crew and I even considered her to be fearless, but that's not completely true. Rachel does have one fear and that is letting Landon back in her life again. But when you're stuck on a giant ship for days on end, you can only delay the inevitable. And she definitely gave it her best effort.

I already liked Landon, but now I LOOOOOOOOVE him. Seriously. Once Rachel was back in his life all he did was try to prove to her that they were meant to be together. He was like the ultimate book boyfriend multiplied by a thousand. I found myself swooning over his actions more than once and when he voiced his feelings....FORGET IT. I was done for. Don't get me wrong, I understood Rachel's hesitation, but at the same time I was like "Guuuurl...." And the grand gesture (you know these Renegades love their grand gestures)...WOW.

Rebecca has given us another fantastic book. Just like the last one, this book is filled with lots of Renegade excitement. Plenty of crazy stunts and heart stopping moments, but just like the last book, this one is also about true love. It is an amazing second chance romance with a crazy Renegade twist. Now I will just be over here waiting to read Penna's story.

EXCERPT

“How many have there been, Landon? How many memories are in your bed nowadays?” She forged on ahead, her eyes glossing over with a layer of what I was hesitant to call tears. “Can you remember them all?”

Heat rushed through my veins, a nauseating mixture of anger, shame, and the bitter taste of regret. My brain screamed at me to retreat and lick my wounds, to try again with her when she wasn’t on offense.

My heart reminded me that I was going to have to fight for this woman with every weapon in my arsenal if I wanted her.

And damn, I wanted her. Craved her. Needed her.

She was the only one I’d ever felt connected to—the only one my heart woke up and shook off the ice for. The only woman who challenged me and took me down in the process.

I stepped forward and clamped both of my hands on the table, boxing her between my arms. She craned her head to keep my gaze, unwilling to back down. It was the quality that both frustrated the hell out of me and turned me on faster than anything—her constant refusal to yield for just a fucking second.“Can I remember them all? Probably not.”

She snorted.

“You want to know why?” I didn’t wait for her to answer. “Because blonde, redhead, brunette—I saw their features for a millisecond. The moment I had one of them in my bed, they all had eyes the color of dark chocolate and hair so black it was almost blue...” I glanced at her hair. “Or purple. I never needed to remember them, because they were always you.”

“Don’t say things like that,” she begged. As if I could physically see her walls start to crumble, she softened. “You don’t get to say things like that to me. Not anymore.

“Right. I’ll be quick—you’ve got to be getting cold. My point is that what happened back then...what I did to you. It was wrong. I was wrong. I did the wrong goddamned thing for what I thought was the right reason, and I’m so damn sorry—”

The door opened, and I stepped back in shock. Maybe I should have led with the sorry in the first place.  Rachel stood there, gloriously nude, water dripping down her petal-soft skin, and it took every ounce of willpower from every man in the world to keep my eyes on her face. She openly glared at me then lifted a single eyebrow, bent to grab her clothes off the floor—holy shit, her ass could stop traffic—and walked right past me, her head held high.

My mouth actually watered with every step she took, and I snapped my lips closed to avoid drooling. I barely contained my groan, unsure of what was sexier—Rachel’s perfect body that I knew fit mine like a damn puzzle piece, or her I-don’t-give-a-fuck confidence as her hips swayed down the hall.  I should have known that a bathroom door was no match for her tenacity.

Point made.

My heart sank when I looked closer at her lower back. There was a vague, silvery mark, but no tattoo. She’d had it removed. Erased it. Erased us.

She slammed her bedroom door, and I followed until my head rested against the wood. “Fuck, you are so stubborn,” I whispered, but it came out as more of a compliment than a measure of my frustration.
