RELEASE BLITZ & 4 1/2 STAR REVIEW: A Long Time Coming by Meghan Quinn

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn, comes a witty take on a romantic comedy classic, My Best Friend's Wedding. Steamy, laugh-out-loud, and full of charm, these two best friends heat up the pages while proving true love might be right in front of you.

Have you ever heard of a man-in-waiting?

Yeah, neither has my best friend's soon-to-be monster-in-law. Ooo, sorry, I meant mother-in-law. Nor has she heard of the term, what the bride wants, the bride gets.

With wedding planning underway and a short timeline, my best friend, Lia, has recruited me to help her battle the snarly beast that is Mrs. Beaver. Not scared at all, I accept the challenge as her man-in-waiting--aka, man of honor--and take matters into my own hands.

The only problem is, with every second we draw closer to the wedding, I'm starting to see my best girl in a different light.

She's always been beautiful to me, but now . . . I find myself staring a touch too long. My hand lingering for one more minute. And when she's upset? Allowing her to sleep in my bed.

And before I know what's happening, it hits me like a ton of bricks. I'm in love with my best friend. Not just in love, but infatuated.

No one compares to her and nothing seems to distract me from that realization.

Not the girl I try to date while I help plan Lia's wedding.

Not her angry fiancé who thinks I'm growing too close.

And not the looming deadline of her nuptials.

Which means, there's only one thing left for me to do. Prove to Lia I'm the one she should be with instead. But with the pressure of her engagement, the stress from her soon-to-be mother-in-law, and the breath-stealing nerves running through me, I'm finding it a lot harder to claim the girl than I would like to admit.

Say a little prayer for me . . .

Erin Mallon and JF Harding are narrating this sizzling hot, hilarious, forbidden romance in duet.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

This is definitely my favorite book in the Cane brothers series. Breaker was just THE BEST and I am a sucker for a friends to lovers story. This was also my last read of 2022 and I definitely ended my reading year on a high note!

Lia and Breaker have been best friends since college and they have everything that a romantic relationship has, except for the physical part. When Lia asks for Breaker's help in dealing with her soon to be mother in law, of course he says yes. She is making wedding planning almost impossible and having Breaker on her side is exactly what Lia needs.

Lia and Breaker's story is one that has plenty of humor along with lots of feelings. Throughout the book we get to see just how made for each other they are and even though it takes a while to get there, the pay off is impeccable.

I just loved the Cane brothers and their constant shenanigans made this book so enjoyable to read. Pretty much everyone (we get some fantastic cameos in this one!) in the book saw what took Lia and Breaker a long time to see and watching it all play out was very entertaining.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: A Wonderful Lie by Carrie Aarons

A secret holiday romance between coworkers who talk love and dating on competing podcasts? Say no more! Carrie Aarons' just released A Wonderful Lie, which is a workplace rivals, reverse grumpy/sunshine romance that will give you all the feels you crave during the festive months!

It's the perfect spicy read to pair with a cozy blanket and some hot cocoa ... don't worry, your newest golden retriever book boyfriend will also warm you up! *wink wink*

Blurb

Everyone lies around the holidays. We lie about the money we’re spending. We lie that we’re following our diets.

What am I lying about this year? The fact that my workplace nemesis has become my friend-with-benefits.

Collin Machlan and I have been each other’s competition since we joined our college’s radio station freshman year. Six years later, we’re both hosting shows for the country’s most popular podcast network.

Just as everything starts turning red and green, our boss announces a promotion, and whoever gets the most listens during this merry season will be crowned the winner.

There is just one catch; the only way to draw an audience in December is to theme every episode around Christmas. For a woman who typically celebrates alone with takeout and slasher flicks, I’m at a big disadvantage.

Going toe-to-toe with the guy I’ve never been able to intimidate is only made harder by the fact that Collin doesn’t seem to want to play our usual games. Add in some mistletoe and a Secret Santa swap, and I finally give in to his shameless flirting.

Maybe it’s the delusion of cuffing season, but suddenly I’m spending every night with him. No one at work knows. Neither does his family, or my friends. I lie that it’s just physical. That me, a self-proclaimed bachelorette, couldn’t possibly be on the brink of a relationship. I lie that we’re still competing for a job he doesn’t even want.

Until one too many lies threatens to topple my life like a crooked tree with poorly-distributed ornaments. And I’m left to decide between my lonely and blue traditions, or a love that lasts all year round.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Collin and Lark have known each other since college and there has always been a bit of a rivalry between them. They are both very good at their jobs and now they find themselves competing for a new time slot that can help their careers.

I do enjoy when a couple in a book is like "let's do this friends (or in their case enemies) with benefits things developing feelings for each other." In this case Collin already has minor feelings for Lark and spending time with her just makes those feelings grow.

I love banter between love interests and Collin and Lark had some great banter in this book. In this case, Lark was the grumpy one who disliked Christmas and Collin was completely full of the Christmas spirit. Throughout the book he slowly bring Lark around to his side of things, but it's not easy. She has completely valid reasons for disliking the holiday, but Collin is persistent. And he prevails.

This book is sweet and spicy with some humor thrown in. If you like holiday themed stories, you should definitely check this one out!

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Open Fire (Florida Glaze, #3) by ME Carter

His chestnuts will be roasting…

With just 24 hours to hang out with his dad, Becker Bell is determined to get home for Christmas. Things aren’t looking promising. Multiple delays are making it harder than necessary to get where he needs to be, leaving him frustrated and even worse… bored. That is, until a scattered redhead is knocked right off her feet in front of him.

Sloan Webster just wants to be with her family for the holidays. However, between security mishaps and several hours’ worth of delays, it seems the universe is against her. But when an unexpected good Samaritan offers his assistance, things begin looking up.

Maybe there’s time for a Christmas miracle after all…

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Sloan and Becker find themselves stranded at an airport, trying to get home for Christmas. Initially on their own, they discover they are on the same flight and have plenty of time to kill, so they spend it together. There isn't a ton to do in the airport, but they definitely find ways to entertain themselves and in the process, they get to know each other.

Now, there isn't a lot of spice in this book, but honestly, it didn't need it. But there is a lot of possibility of spice. It's clear that Sloan and Becker like each other, but their current situation is being stranded at the airport with lots of other people. And they are headed home to see family, but they will eventually be back in the same city. Lots of possibilities.

I started this book while I was on a couple hour bus ride and I was able to finish it while I was still on the bus ride. It was an absolute delight and I couldn't put it down!

Author Bio

My name is ME Carter and I have no idea how I ended writing books. I'm more of a story teller (the more exaggerated the better) and I happen to know people who helped me get those stories on paper.

I love reading (read almost 300 books last year), hate working out (but I do it anyway because my trainer makes me), love food (but hate what it does to my butt) and love traveling to non-touristy places most people never see.

I live in Houston with my four kids, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who was just a twinkle in my eye when I came up with my pen name. Yeah, I'll probably have to pay for his therapy someday for being left out.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Untying the Knot by Meghan Quinn

“Your heartbeat is the cadence of my life, and without it in my palm, I’m an aimless wanderer.”

UNTYING THE KNOT, a brand new steamy, witty, emotional romance full of heart and humor from USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, is Now Available in all formats! Dive into this romantic comedy sure to keep you on your toes. One-click your copy today!

A spin-off from the #1 Amazon bestsellers, A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant To Be, USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings you a heart-warming, yet hilarious full-length novel on what life is like after the happily ever after.

Ryot Bisley is my husband.

Yes, the former third baseman for the Chicago Bobbies and absolute heart throb of the Windy City. That Ryot Bisley.

The first time I ran into him, he was grumpy, a horrific host, and left me on his sofa with nothing but a nylon baseball flag to use as a blanket.

The second time, he reluctantly bought me dinner, stared at my chest the entire night, and still sported that permanent frown.

The third time . . . well, that was a game changer. His smile captured me, his teasing charmed me, and his touches excited me.

So when he was called up to the majors that didn’t stop us from knocking it out of the park and all the way down the aisle.

Eleven years later…I’d love to say we’re happy as ever but the man who sent me dirty text messages every day is long gone and Mr. Frowny Face is back.

He’s so focused on trying to build a life after baseball that he doesn’t see the life we’ve already created together. . .so I make the hard decision and serve him divorce papers.

Problem is…my husband refuses to accept those papers. Instead, he has a new game plan that makes untying the knot of our marriage a little tricky. And just when I thought I wanted to be traded . . . he's slowly, tantalizingly roping me back in.

Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter narrate this sexy romance in duet and bring Ryot and Myla to life! You won't want to miss this audiobook and all the heat and emotions they bring to it. One-click your copy and get your newest eargasm today!

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

The marriage in trouble trope is not my favorite. If I had to put it in a top ten list of my favorite tropes, it would definitely be at the bottom. Having said that, I didn't dislike this book, but I also didn't love it.

I didn't just like Ryot, I freaking LOVED him. The book is told in the past and present so we get to see how their relationship developed and how they got to where they are today. Their first meeting was actually quite terrible and they go through periods of time where they are apart and not even communicating besides creeping on each other's Instagram accounts. (That made me laugh because that is definitely something people do.) But then they do reconnect and Myla does not want a relationship so they decide to be friends. Yup. Friends. Ryot has to play the long game and he did it masterfully!

To say that Ryot is blindsided when Myla serves him with divorce papers is putting it lightly. He doesn't understand why, but that doesn't stop him from declaring that he isn't going to give her up without a fight. Yes, he and Myla had a few rocky months in their marriage, but once he realized where he went wrong, he went all out to prove to her that he not only still loved her, but he wanted to make their marriage work. Cue the swoon behavior.

I had a love/hate relationship with Myla. She has a super complicated past, so that colored a lot of her decision making, and I understood that, but at the same time I couldn't help but dislike how she handled things.

And what is it with this author writing side characters that I dislike? Some of her recent books have some unlikable characters in them. I really wanted to like Myla's best friend Nicole, but she got on my nerves so much. I know she was just trying to be a friend, but I felt as though she overstepped multiple times when it came to Myla and Ryot's relationship.

I did enjoy the crossover characters from the author's previous books. My only problem is I have the memory of a goldfish and it takes me a bit to put all the pieces together. But I always love to revisit characters and see how they are doing.
