Connor Dunkle stood on her doorstep.

With a rush of relief, she flung open the door and held back a gasp.

My God, he looked good.

Struck mute for a moment, she gave in to impulse and hungrily took him in. Dressed in a button down navy blue shirt that clung to his broad chest, a casual jacket, and dark-washed jeans, he simmered with delicious masculine testosterone. Usually a hint of stubble clung to his square jaw, but tonight he was clean-shaven and smelled of spicy cloves. His thick dirty blond hair fell in waves over his forehead, brushing his ears, and those sea blue eyes framed with thick lashes struck her mute for a few seconds. He towered over her in a mass of rock-hard muscle, giving her the impression of both strength and protectiveness.

He was a walking, talking specimen of everything a woman dreams of in a man. Both Hemsworth brothers mixed with Daniel Craig and a sprinkle of old-fashioned Redford. Her poor body roared into overdrive and she felt a damp rush of moisture between her thighs.

God, she was acting like a sex-starved teen. So. Embarrassing.

Finally, he spoke. Even his damn voice was gravel and satin mixed together in a symphony to the ears. “I saw your lights went out. Looks like some of the other houses on the block are affected. You okay?”

He was checking on her? To be nice or to get her to agree to extra credit? “Yes, we’re fine. Thank you.”

“Did you flip the breaker? Sometimes these apartments get overloaded and you need to reset it. That’s what I had to do with mine.”

“I haven’t gone down to the basement yet.”

“I’ll help you out.”

“Oh, you don’t have to.”

His gaze sharpened on her face, and his jaw clenched. Fascinated, she studied his features, noticing the air of irritation that briefly shone. “I want to, Ella. I won’t stay. I just don’t like the idea of you and Luke alone in the dark.”

She flushed and stumbled back. “I didn’t mean to be rude. I’m just used to doing things for myself. I’m sorry, come in.”

He walked inside and she realized it was a mistake.

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Jennifer Probst sparks a blissful mind-body connection as her “sexy, satisfying” (Kirkus Reviews) new series continues!

She’s an expert in helping others de-stress, but Arilyn Meadows is running on fumes. No time to find Mr. Right—but after discovering her yogi boyfriend in a compromising asana, Arilyn would rather dog-sit for her honeymooning friend Kate than risk her heart on another downward dog. And when police officer Stone Petty—radiating masculinity and bad-boy attitude—is sent to her for mandatory lessons in cooling off when the job gets too hot, Arilyn vows to ignore his seductive glances and sexy grin. But there’s no halting their sizzling flirtation—a red-hot, high-speed chase that’s breaking all the limits.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good  love/hate relationships and these two had a fantastic one. I knew while reading the previous book in the series that this story would be good, but it was more than that. It was AMAZING. Arilyn and Stone two loved to fight and more than once I found myself thinking "When they finally have sex, it is going to be AWESOME."

Arilyn and Stone met in the previous book and it was "hate at first sight" for both of them. Stone knew just the right buttons to push to make her angry and he likes to push them as often as possible. But thanks to a house call gone wrong at work, things get interesting when Stone has to attend Arilyn's anger management class. He thinks her methods are ridiculous and can't help but give her a hard time. Arilyn prides herself on being a calm, centered, and reasonable person, but Stone is the one person who can get her all riled up (in more ways than one) in no time at all.

These two were so much fun to watch. Arilyn wanted to see the best in everyone and help anyone any way she could and Stone just wanted the anger management classes to be over so he could go back to work. These two were headed for a major make out session and it finally happens after he helps Arilyn out with a puppy rescue mission.
“I have a proposition,” he drawled. “One kiss. Let’s prove to each other we’d be a disaster together.”
“I don’t need a kiss to confirm you’d be a nightmare to deal with,” she shot back. “You’re an ex-smoker, workaholic, anger ridden, meat eater, cynic.”
His fingers moved to caress her cheek, the line of her jaw, up to her temple. Little brushes of tenderness, contradicting the raw strength and power in those hands and body. Ready to crush her but choosing gentleness. The lust rolled over her in waves, and she fought back with all her power.
“And you’re a tree hugging, naïve, post world hippie with a god complex,” he retorted. “Vegetarian, to boot. Plus a hardened criminal.”
Arilyn growled under her breath and dug her nails into his shoulders with fierceness. “You know nothing about me, Officer! I am not naïve.”
“Stone. Now shut up.”
His mouth took hers.
She planned to fight back and give him everything she got.
And she did, but not in the way she planned.
The moment those blistering hot, soft lips met hers, she lost it. Swamped by the delicious scent and taste and feel of him, she arched upward and opened her mouth for more. He muttered something dark and dirty, and slid his tongue past her parted lips and beyond.
Then he showed her who was boss.
Oh, he kissed her with all the hard passion and lust she always dreamed about but never inspired. With her past lovers, she got tender, slow lovemaking, and poetic words murmured in her ear. Moves were coordinated like a beautiful song, and though she was satisfied, and emotionally full, there was an ache deep in her body that never felt completely fulfilled.
She’d thought something was wrong with her and happily ignored that part of herself.
Until now.
Stone Petty owned her. Possessed her. His tongue took what he wanted and demanded it all, with each silky thrust and complete deflowering of her mouth. His reached around and sunk his fingers into her hair, tugging her head back to expose her throat and keep her helpless beneath him. Her breasts pressed against his hard chest, his erection notched between her open thighs, and he ravished her body and soul, leaving nothing behind but an aching, horrible want for more.
But of course there is more to the story than this opposites attract relationship. Stone is in Arilyn's anger management class for a reason. He grew up with an abusive father and when he was on the NYPD, a domestic violence call gong wrong resulted in him being transferred to Verily. Unfortunately history repeats itself when he gets called to yet another domestic violence call that is a little too close for comfort and Stone snaps. Stone never really came to terms with his childhood and now that is once again spilling over into this career.

Then there is Arilyn, who is the way she is for a reason. Her mother died from cancer and then her father took his own life shortly after. She made a conscious decision to be the opposite of everything her parents' were. She thinks that is the best way to live her life and she has made it work, even if she had to bury the real Arilyn a little. At some point Stone realizes that Arilyn's methods are working and he embraces it. He also helps Arilyn come out of her repressed self and helps her have a little fun.

I LOVED this book. Jennifer Probst is an excellent writer and she manages to make the book funny, sweet, sexy and full of sexual tension, but at the same time deal with some serious issues. I was dying for Arilyn and Stone to make things work so I just couldn't put the book down. It is a wonderful addition to the series. I still have to go back and read the first two books in this series and I will definitely be doing that.

One last thing. See that teaser right below this paragraph? OH. MY. GOD. I read that section of the book and immediately tweeted at the author telling her she was a genius. And then what follows after it, e-reader melting worthy. SO. HOT. It's moments like that, that make me love this book so much.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well I can add another book boyfriend to the list. Wolfe. This guy doesn't need a last name. He's just Wolfe. Good 'ol dependable, extremely rich, ridiculously good looking, ex underwear model (for reals) Wolfe. God I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

From the moment Wolfe met Gen, they had a connection and they formed a wonderful friendship. On Gen's wedding day she realizes that she is about to make a terrible mistake and jumps out the church window. Luckily for her, Wolfe finds her and helps her escape. He doesn't even question what she is doing. He knows that if Gen is running away from her wedding, she has a good reason.

The two of them head upstate to Wolfe's family's cabin where they spend some time hiding from everything. It is while they are up there that Wolfe learns about Gen's doubts regarding her relationship with her ex-fiance and the two start to repair their semi-broken friendship. Thanks to her awful ex, Gen had distanced herself from Wolfe as well as her girlfriends. Luckily for Gen she has amazing friends and they are all there for her when she does eventually face the music, especially Wolfe. Being at the cabin is also where Gen and Wolfe's friendship starts to shift. They both feel the shift, but aren't sure what to do with it....at first.

I loved Gen. She is one strong lady. Not only did have the guts to run away from her wedding, but when it turns out that her ex-fiance has manipulated her family as well as her coworkers, she doesn't let that get her down. She is determined to show everyone that she made the right choice. Plus, she is just a good person. Wolfe had a rough life growing up (I can't tell you how often I cried when reading his flashbacks.) He doesn't like to talk about what happened to him and Gen respects that. She never pushes him to talk about things, but allows him to tell her on his own terms. She accepts and loves Wolfe for who he is, no questions asked. Unfortunately, it is Wolfe's past that becomes the stumbling block for these two and it takes some soul searching for Wolfe to figure out what he really wants.
"Do you remember what I told you that Sunday years ago? When you first visited me?”
Wolfe blinked. The afternoon of their initial meeting was carved in his brain as one of the turning points in his life. He’d dined with Sawyer and Julietta, and she’d asked to speak with him in private for a few moments after dessert. “Yes, of course. You said I was always welcome in your home, that I was part of your family. You said I had worth, and one day I’d see it.”
She smiled faintly. “Good. Do you remember the last thing I said?”
He played back the conversation in his memory. “You said I was searching for something, and that one day I’d find it. But I’d need to be brave enough to think I deserved it.”
“Yes, my sweet boy. I’ve watched you grow up into a man I’m proud of. You’ve become a son to Julietta and Sawyer, and a grandson to me. You are the heart and soul of Purity, and you have a wisdom and gentleness that humbles me. The last time you visited, I knew you’d changed. I didn’t know who it would be, but once I met Genevieve, everything made sense.”
He shifted in his chair while his defenses rose. “Gen and I are friends.” The words stuck in his throat and the lie burned his tongue.
She threw her head back and cackled. “Started as friends, yes. But you are soul mates. Meant to balance each other.”
“Mama Conte, I don’t want to talk about this right now. It’s not going to work between us. It’s for the best.”
She kept talking as if he wasn’t even there. “If only there was a way I could make you marry each other. But alas, it won’t work this time.”
“What?”
“Nothing. Have you figured out what you’re searching for?”
The change of topic was hurting his head. “Nothing. I have everything I want.” Another lie.
“Wolfe Wells. This is important. Don’t be flip—tell me the truth.”
The demand came like a whiplash. He stared at the elderly woman gazing at him with eyes of steel, and the answer surged from within, poised on his lips, and spilled from his very soul. “Beautiful. I’m searching for something beautiful out there."
Don't ask me how it is possible, but this was my FIRST Jennifer Probst book. I'm not sure how I missed her books before, but I will definitely be going back to read the two previous books in this series. I loved Gen's friends so I want to see how they got their happily ever afters. I'm also looking forward to the next book in this series...let's just say the couple appear in this book and they definitely made an impression on me.
