4 Star Review: The D- in 403B by Jess Bryant

Sometimes a change of address can change your whole life.

Declan Ward has been called a lot of things in his life. Drug baby, delinquent and dirty little gay boy just to name a few. As a child in foster care, he heard it all and as an adult he knows better than to worry about what other people think of him. But when he gets into a war of words with his neighbor, he earns a new nickname and this time, it’s one he likes, one he decides he should definitely live up to.

After all, the new guy never actually said what it was the D stands for in his letters, but Declan has a few ideas and would be more than happy to show him.

Brett Coburn is a mature, respectable adult. He doesn’t get into arguments and he doesn’t name call like a kid on the playground. It doesn’t matter that the guy in 403B is the best-looking man Brett has ever laid eyes on. He’s a dickhead and Brett has the letters to prove it. That’s why nobody is more surprised than Brett when their thinly veiled threatening letters take a turn for the fun and flirtatious.

Is it possible they have more in common than they realized? Can they overcome the rough start to their friendship and turn it into something more? Or if they let their relationship become about more than just the “D” are they both bound to end up broken hearted?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times. The author has a fantastic sense of humor and it comes across in her writing. But there is also a more serious tone to the book that encapsulates both Declan and Brett's stories. Declan had a rough childhood and while he is grown, he is still dealing with the repercussions. And Brett is reeling from a broken heart and getting involved with someone new is the last thing he's thinking about.

Declan and Brett come together in a very unconventional way. The notes that they leave for each other start off in slightly menacing way, but quickly turn into something that can be labeled as flirting. They both recognize that their first impressions of the other person were completely wrong and that's when the story really starts.

I love that the author got her idea for this book from a story that went viral. It's a great idea. On the surface, this is simple story. Two neighbors, who don't like each other, fall in love. But of course it's much more complicated than that. Why don't they like each other? And how do they overcome that?

My Review of Lassoing The Virgin Mail Order Bride

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I never thought a book about a mail order bride would be something I would like, but then Alexa Riley wrote one and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. When you read a synopsis for one of Alexa Riley's books, you know exactly what you are going to get and they always deliver! I've said this before and I will say it again....I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Clare is out of options. She has no family, no money and sees becoming a mail order bride as her only option. Cash doesn't have time for finding a wife. The farm keeps him busy and like Clare, he feels that the mail order bride business is his only option.

I absolutely LOVED these two. Before Clare arrived, Cash had some second thoughts and actually asked his foreman to put her on a train back home, but his foreman does the exact opposite and brings Clare home. Cash doesn't exactly make a first good impression on Clare, but she is determined to stick it out. She quickly realizes that while he is not quite the jerk he seems to be, he does have some Alpha tendencies. It doesn't take long for them to some decisions on how this relationship will work and before you know it they are saying "I love you."

I find Alexa's stories so refreshing. This one is so freaking sweet and also ridiculously HOT. I read it in one sitting (I was at a Starbucks so I hope the people around me enjoyed my blushing) and I found myself thinking "I want more of Clare and Cash!" We do get a lovely little epilogue so we get to see them ten years down the road, but I still wanted more!

My Review of Branding the Virgin

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Once again Alexa Riley has given us a short and sexy book to help us through these hot days of summer. I mean I'm already taking cold showers to cool down from the heat so I may as well use them to cool down from reading. And that cover!  Hello sexy cowboy!

My first though was "pregnant virgin? what?" So of course I was intrigued. MJ wants a child, but has no one to have that child with so she gets inseminated. But a mix up finds her pregnant with Ty's child. Ty had been in a bull riding accident and had some of his sperm frozen for later use, NOT donor use. Oops. When MJ takes a job at TY's ranch she finds in front of the sexiest man she has ever seen. Now she just has to tell him that she is pregnant with his baby.

This book is short, sexy and sweet and like most of their books, goes from zero to a hundred in no time. If you are an Alexa Riley fan, this is a must read!

My Review of Roping the Virgin

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Ty and Mary Jane in Branding the Virgin so I was more than happy to hear that the rest of the Jennings clan were going to get their happily ever after! In this book we get brother Blake and one of the town veterinarians, Luciana.

When the opportunity arises for Luciana to live and work on Blake's ranch she doesn't exactly jump at the chance, but she knows that she needs the experience. Blake sees this as the perfect chance to not only get Luciana to his ranch, but to also make sure she never leaves. Don't worry...not in that "I'm gonna lock her up and throw away the key way". These two have been making eyes at each other (unbeknownst to the other person) for months and this is the perfect opportunity for them to get together.

As always, Alexa brings the sweet and sexy with this one. I loved the way Blake took control and made Luciana his. And when her family came to visit and he told them how he wanted to marry her as soon as possible....**SWOON** I read this in one sitting and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the siblings make out!

My Review of the Wanted Virgin

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In the second book we were given a glimpse into what was going on with Trace. The Jennings siblings were worried about him when he becomes scarcer than usual and when they show up at his house he acts extremely skittish. Now we know why...he had Addison hiding out there.

Once Addison turns 18 and realizes that he father is about to give her to another man, she runs away. A terrible rainstorm causes her to crash her car and luckily Trace is the one who finds her. Like his brothers before him (and pretty much every male character in an Alexa Riley book), it is love at first sight.

These two were adorable and I absolutely loved them! Addison may have lived an extremely sheltered life, but she could immediately tell that Trace was a good man and just gave herself over to him completely. And his family accepted her, no questions asked.

This book is short. This book is very sweet. And this book is EXTREMELY sexy. But of course it is. It's an Alexa Riley book.

My Review of The Virgin Cowboy

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love Dolly. The only girl of the Jennings clan is smart, sassy and she knows what wants. And what she wants is Brandon. She has wanted him from the moment she met him, but she was only sixteen. Now she is older and is sick and tired of waiting around for Brandon. When Brandon met Dolly, he developed feelings as well, but she was only sixteen. So he stayed away. Now she is definitely old enough, but he thinks Dolly deserves more. Dolly is determined to change her mind and just when she thinks she has him, he turns the tables on her.

This book is fantastic. I loved how Dolly antagonized Brandon and stretched his self control to his limits. And the fact that Dolly's brother Ty was like "Yeah, I know what's been going on (or hasn't been going on) and you have my blessing." I also liked that we got to see the other side of something that happened two books ago...it just put all the pieces of the puzzle together. It's the little touches like that that make Alexa's books so great.

As always the sexual tension between the main characters is ridiculously thick and the payoff is AMAZING. Like most Alexa Riley books, you will be able to read this story in one sitting and you will be very happy that all the Jennings kids have found their happily ever after. ESPECIALLY after reading the wonderful epilogue.
