I don’t know what love is anymore.

 Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

 Except I haven't felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem--but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

 That's how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I'm a pro. I can handle this.

 Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I'm doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don't think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.


Author, wife, adoptive mother, and peanut butter lover. Will dance for laughs, won’t eat anything spicy because you asked, but will squeeze boobs in replace of a hug. Grew up in Southern California (Temecula, anyone? Anyone?) lived in New York (the armpit of NY, not the city) and now resides in Colorado with my wife, son, two dogs, three cats, and my multiple book boyfriends. Loves love, anything romantic, and will die if I ever meet Tom Hanks. Yay, books!

I sighed, hugging the pillow closer and waiting with baited breath for him to come back to bed.
It was Sunday and I didn’t have to work today, so I kind of hoped he’d do that thing with his tongue again.
My body quivered and I bit my lower lip.
He sat on the edge of the mattress and without a single glance my way, he said, “Pet, I have shit to do.”
I tensed.
Then the daisy heads snapped off and the velvet petals shrivelled up in my belly.
Uh, what?
Suddenly, that hot raspy Irish accent didn’t sound so hot.
Okay, I wasn’t expecting a proposal or anything, not by a long shot, but I did expect a morning kiss and a possible number exchange for a possible second date. Or rather first date.
He didn’t even pretend like he’d call.
God, was I that naïve?
I sat up, taking the sheet with me. “Excuse me?”
He bent, picked up his cargo pants from the floor and tugged them on.
“I have shit to do, babe. I called a cab. It’ll be here any second.”
My heart slammed into my chest. He called me a cab? Was I supposed to think this was okay because he called me a cab?
Because it wasn’t. It totally wasn’t.
There was a brief honk outside.
Oh. My. God. When did he call me a cab? When he had his finger in my ass.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Tori has been in a downward spiral ever since she discovered the truth about her last relationship. She needs to reset her life and becoming a nanny for Ethan’s kids is the way to go. Or at least that’s what Tori’s sister thinks. (Side note: Yay for all the Kat and Brady time we get in this book!) Unfortunately Ethan makes a terrible first impression and he’s positive that Tori doesn’t even want the job. But it doesn’t take long for her to fall for his adorable children, who she had previously met, and she takes the job. 

I actually loved how terribly their first meeting went. I have a soft spot for people who immediately have to apologize after meeting someone because they were idiots, and that is exactly what Ethan was. They manage to clear the air so Tori starts her new job on a good note. It doesn't take long for the two of them to realize they have feelings for each other, but thanks to Tori's past, she is hesitant to start anything with Ethan. She will only be there for a short amount of time and knows that getting involved with him is a bad idea. He is in a middle of a divorce with an awful woman and a relationship is the last thing she needs right now, but of course they can't help themselves. 

Ethan and Tori's relationship progressed pretty quickly, but the two of them together just felt right. Ethan understood Tori on a level she never experienced before. He made her feel special and she knew that he was as genuine as they come. And he often found himself in awe of her. She took care of his kids, cooked, cleaned and still found time to spend time with her sister and her family. 

I loved this book so much! I love the single Dad trope (I’m pretty sure that was what made me pick up Lex’s first book Shameless!), but then throw in the fact that the Dad is a handsome, rugged farmer and HELLO HEART EYES EMOJI! Seriously y’all. Heart eye emojis for DAYS. Ethan turned out to be the sweetest guy and the fact that he was an amazing father made him even hotter. There is plenty of drama throughout the book that will keep you interested and if you're like me, you won't want to put the book down. I laughed. I got angry. I even got a little teary a few times. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. 

Now I just need Lex to write Logan's story. Logan is Ethan's brother and he has a best friend that he's in love with. He just doesn't realize it yet!  ;-)
