***A Standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance."

I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.

Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.

I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.

At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.

I shouldn’t want her.

But I do.

I should leave her alone.

But I won’t.

4 1/2 Star Review: Room Service by Poppy Dunne

ROOM SERVICE
by Poppy Dunne
Adult Contemporary Romantic Comedy

Goodreads

I've spent seven nights cooped up in this five star hotel, sleeping on 1000 thread count sheets and working sixteen hours a day. At least room service is covered under my expense account. But all work and no play leaves a girl dateless for her brother's wedding.

Prospects aren't totally bleak, though. Four meals a day, I get to drool over this sexy room service guy: he's got a perfect body, easy smile, and a sense of humor that has me snorting over my personal pizza. He's all that and a bag of chips. Specifically, the jumbo bag of ranch barbecue chips that I ordered for breakfast out of desperation on Day Four.

I finally found the courage to 'accidentally' let my bathrobe slip, and ask him to be my plus one at my brother's wedding. So maybe I had to offer him a little money. So what? There's no way I can face my family, make my ex rue the day he left me, or screw off this work stress without his helping hand.

But what happens when I find myself falling for my fake, paid-for boyfriend? Judging by the comped mozzarella sticks he brought me for breakfast, maybe there's a chance he's falling for me too?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Alex is in NYC for business and for her brother's wedding. As much as she loves and adores her brother and future sister in law, the rest of her family and her douchey ex boyfriend who also happens to be the bride's cousin are about to make the wedding weekend miserable. Luckily for Alex the man delivering her room service, Ben, is gorgeous and is free to be her boyfriend for the weekend. What could go wrong?

Turns out the answer to that question is not that much. Sure there are some speed bumps along the way thanks to her crazy, god awful family and super creepy ex boyfriend, but it turns out that Ben is a wonderful person and the chemistry between Alex and Ben is not only HOT, but playful.
“Ben,” I gasp, crying his name over and over as I ride him to my climax.
My body seems to fracture under the weight of the orgasm. I drag my nails down his shoulders as I moan, losing control of his name, my name, the whole goddamn English language as I come. The room goes upside down, the picture exploding as I come longer—and louder—than I ever have before. Ben throws me backward onto the bed, and with a last few thrusts, cries out as he finishes. Then we’re lying there, both of us panting for breath.
Jesus, even though he’s big enough to be crushing me, under Ben Williams is exactly where I want to be right now.
Eventually, we disentangle ourselves and lie back in bed, the sheets twisted and twined around us. Nothing beats looking out at a hazy, wintry New York City skyline when you’ve been freshly banged and are hovering on a cloud of good endorphins.
“How do you feel?” I ask Ben.
He waves his hand—so-so. But he also grins, the enormous, sexy asshole that he is. I swat at him and steal a kiss.
“I think that was good calisthenics.” His eyes scan down my body. “You’ve got to work off those mozzarella sticks somehow.”
“Oh?” I prop myself up on an elbow. “You want to be my personal trainer now?”
“Personal trainer. Room server extraordinaire. Hired date. Sex god.” He ticks all the titles off on his fingers. “Yeah, I’ll add one more position to the list.”
About five good ‘position’jokes get into a car jam in my head, so I have to move on. Can’t pick just one.
“Think you’ll be up for another training session soon?” I ask, kissing down his body. And by ‘up,’I of course mean…well, hello. Something’s stirring already down south.
Ben drags me down and rolls on top of me. Yeah, he’s really ready already.
“I haven’t been like this since high school,” he says, kissing my jawline.
“If I made a room service joke right now, would it kill your hard on?” I ask. He stops and ponders.
“I went a little half mast at the thought,” he admits. Another pause. “But it’s back. Keep going.”
So I get service again. With a smile.
Gah! I loved these two so much. They may not have known each other very well, but they got along like gangbusters. Then they took the time to get to know the other person and found out that they actually liked each other. Ben not only played the role she needed him to play, but he also became a friend to Alex. And so much more than that.

This book was HILARIOUS. I started laughing in the first chapter and continued throughout the whole book. Her ridiculous family made me laugh, but also very thankful that I don't know anyone like that. While Alex herself is full of the comedy, there are plenty of delightful secondary characters that had me laughing and thankful that she had them to help get through the terrible weekend. And of course having been Ben there helped too.  ;-)

I'm glad I took a chance on a new author. I look forward to reading future books from Poppy!

COVER REVEAL: No Fear (Bomar Boys #3) by Jess Bryant

Title: No Fear
Series: Bomar Boys #3
Author: Jess Bryant
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Romanced by the Cover
Release Date: January 30, 2017

Blurb

Every small town has that one family that's more savage than civilized. The ones that are more myth and legend than man. In Old Settlers, Oklahoma that's the Bomar boys. Wild, reckless and vicious, they skirt the line of criminal and trip over it more often than not. They are their own punchline: white trash but proud beyond compare. Dirty and dangerously sexy, it's best to steer clear of them or else risk your life... and your heart. These are their stories.

Rachel Grant lives every day in fear. Scared that she'll always be the kind of girl that nobody notices. Scared that her brother will figure out quiet doesn't mean deaf or stupid and put together that she knows far more than she should. And what she knows has her fearing for her life because in a small town like Old settlers everybody knows that you don't cross the Bomar boys.

She needs help. Somebody she can trust. Somebody strong. Somebody that can protect her... and she knows just the guy.

Remy Bomar ran away from what being a Bomar meant when he was eighteen. Ten years later, he's finally come home and he's sworn that he'll do anything to take back his place within the family. He didn't protect the people he loved when he was young and he won't make the same mistake again.

When the cute, shy, girl next door looks up at him with fear in her eyes, what he feels is far from simply protective. He wants her safe but he also wants her to be his. Being a Bomar, those two things have a tendency to be mutually exclusive, particularly since his family has a traitor hell bent on hitting them where it hurts.

What happens when the truth comes out? When Remy finds out she knows far more about the threat to his family than she's been letting on? When Rachel has to choose between her family... or his? Will they find the strength they need to overcome their fears once and for all?

*No Fear is the third book in the Bomar Boys series but can be read as a stand-alone. Each book features one couple and a HEA but will build on each other so they are best read in order.

**Warning** - This book contains explicit language, sexual scenes and violence. Though not depicted, mentions of domestic violence are key to the story and can be a trigger for some.

With their lives teetering between wanting more and losing it all, all four souls dive into the program as a New Year’s resolution, sending them on a crazy, life-altering journey.

Dear Life,

Please be kind.

Yours truly, Hollyn, Jace, Daisy, and Carter.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

COVER REVEAL: Kiss My Boots (Coming Home #2) by Harper Sloan

KISS MY BOOTS
By Harper Sloan
Release Day: August 29, 2017

In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?

Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.

Tate returns to his childhood hometown to start his life over and get a second chance at happiness. He might not remember Quinn from the summer vacations that he used to spend on his PawPaw’s farm but all it takes is one glance, and he can’t get the raven-haired beauty out of his mind. Can two people who have stopped believing in love take a chance to find it in each other? Or will the pain of the past prove too great a hurdle to conquer?

LOST RIDER:

In Lost Rider, the first Western romance in New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series, an injured rodeo star encounters an old flame but will she be just what he needs to get back in the saddle?

Maverick Austin Davis is forced to return home after a ten-year career as a rodeo star. After one too many head injuries, he’s off the circuit and in the horse farming business, something he’s never taken much of a shine to, but now that it’s his late father’s legacy, familial duty calls. How will Maverick find his way after the only dream he ever had for himself is over?

Enter Leighton Elizabeth James, an ugly duckling turned beauty from Maverick’s childhood—his younger sister’s best friend, to be exact, and someone whose heart he stomped all over when she confessed her crush to him ten years back. Now Leighton is back in Maverick’s life, no longer the insecure, love-stricken teen—and Maverick can’t help but take notice. Sparks fly between them, but will Leighton be able to open her heart to the one man who broke it all those years ago?

Written in the vein of Diana Palmer and Lindsay McKenna, this Texas-set series is filled with sizzle, heart, and plenty of cowboys!
