MOONSHOT_2x6_bookmark-BACK.jpg

Moonshot_FrontCover_Final_LoRes

Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…

The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase … he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.

I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.
Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.

And everything in my world broke apart.

BLOG TOUR & 3 1/2 STAR REVIEW: Into the Nothing (Broken Outlaw #1) by BT Urruela

Title: Into the Nothing
Series: Broken Outlaw #1
Author: BT Urruela
Release Date: June 21, 2016

Xander Evans has been on the road for many years. Never settling. Always moving from one place to another, unable to let go of his past. He lived a tragic childhood, spending most of those years in foster care. He's never felt like he's had a home. That is until he stops in the small town of Truman Valley, Missouri, where he meets a woman who will change everything he's ever known.

Paige Watson has it all. A loving family, beautiful home, and a great career. The only thing she's missing....is love. After escaping an abusive relationship, she opens her heart up to a stranger. He is unlike any man she's ever met. He came into her life and turned it completely upside down. Everything is perfect. That is, until one fateful night.

A night that would tear the Watson family apart, never to be put back together again.

A night that would send Xander away to prison for life.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story opens in the present. Xander is serving a life sentence and we get a quick glimpse into his life on the inside. It's been three years and he is still thinking about Paige and her family. The very end of the prologue gives us the information I know I had been curious to find out since I first read the synopsis: What did Xander do to end up in prison?

The book then goes back three years to see where everything began. Xander is a wanderer and never settles into a place for very long. He goes to a random bar one night where he encounters Paige Watson and her father. He makes quite the impression on both of them and gets invited to their house for dinner the next night. Dinner goes so well that Xander is offered a job at the family winery. He accepts and he finds himself settling into his job and his place in the Watson family. And while it is clear that Xander and Paige are attracted to each other, it takes them a while to actually do anything about it.

Once we get to the point where the event occurs that sends Xander to prison, we are brought back to the present. For me, this is where it got interesting, which unfortunately was 75% in. It took me a few days to get through the first part of the book, but once I hit the 75% mark, I finished it in no time. I have been trying to put my finger on why I struggled so much and there was something about the writing style that made it hard for me. A lot of the interactions between the characters came across as awkward and I didn't really connect with any of them. I found myself trying to find redeeming characteristics in some of them and it was kind of hard to do.

This is not your mother's romance novel. I had seen a few things online about how this wasn't a traditional romance so I was ready for whatever that meant. I didn't exactly hate this book, but I didn't love it either. I thought the premise was good and there were parts that I enjoyed, but overall the book didn't grab me like I hoped it would. But despite that, this was the first book in a new series and I am still curious to see what will happen next.

"How about twenty questions?" I ask.

"I hate twenty questions."

"How about five questions, then?"

He cracks a smile and lifts an eyebrow. "How about three?"

"Deal!"

"So, have I mentioned how much I fucking hate Tuesdays?" Brandi's voice cuts right between us. Xander looks relieved.

Me? Not so much. "Damn it, Brandi!"

"What?"

"Oh nothing. Can you grab me Fireball though? Pretty please. Two of them." I look at Xander. "You're taking one."

"Three. I am too, bitch! Fuck Tuesdays!" Brandi calls out from across the bar as she begins filling the shot glasses from the Fireball chiller.

"Question one. You said you’ve been traveling for a while now, right? Do you ever get tired of it? Ever feel like settling?”

"Damn. Starting out with the heavy hitters, huh?" He eyes the shot glasses as if hoping it will somehow make them fill faster.

"Need me to go easier on you? Maybe a finger or two first before I go in with the whole fist?"

He looks at me in disbelief. "Did you really just say that?"

"Just answer the question, two fingers or three?"

BLOG TOUR & 4 STAR REVIEW: Wicked Ride (Wicked Horse #4) by Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Ride (The Wicked Horse Series Book #4)
by Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: June 28, 2016

I think this woman may be the death of me. A dire prediction, but probably true.

Probably true because she’s not mine to have and I’ll probably take her, even at the risk to my own safety. So many men slobbering to get a taste of her and only one, sweet, virginal girl to go around.

That’s right.

She’s a virgin.

Looking like a porcelain china doll that would break if not handled carefully. But I also know she’s stronger than she looks.

She’s a contradiction.

She’s most likely my downfall.

Like I said, she’ll probably be the death of me, but it’s a risk

I’m willing to take.

**Warning: this book has sex in it. Lots of sex. Dirty sex. The Wicked Horse Series is a bit different than what Sawyer Bennett normally writes. While you’ll still enjoy fabulous characters, a suspenseful story, some witty banter and an epic romance, there’s just… a lot of sex. You’ve been warned.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This series continues to be so freaking good! After reading the last book and him playing the part that he did (holy threesome hotness Batman!) I was curious as to how his story would unfold.

When Logan sees Auralie for the first time he is immediately drawn to her. When he learns that Auralie's virginity will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, he knows there is no way he will be that bidder. Auralie notices Logan as well and feels the same connection He feels. They find that they can communicate by just looking at the other person. Unfortunately for Logan, he has to watch Auralie with other men (no sex of course) while he just stands by and does nothing.

But their luck changes when Auralie's handler has to go out of town. The two run into each other and end up spending some time together. Logan learns why she is auctioning off her virginity and he also discovers that she is also carrying around some heavy burdens. Burdens he wants to help carry. But of course Auralie is hesitant to take his or anyone else's help.
“Okay,” he says softly. “I won’t ask you why you’re doing this, but just know…if you want to try to figure another way out, I’m ready to help you do it.”
I know I just shut him down tight a second ago, but I can’t help it when my mouth opens, my vocal chords engage, and a single whispered and needful word comes out, “Why?”
Logan finally picks up his coffee, blows across the top, and takes a sip while looking at me over the rim. When he sets it back down, he says, “Because we’re tethered.”
Excuse me?” I ask, not in a tart, offended way, but in an I’m-completely-confused way.
“From the moment you and I first locked eyes on each other, there was an understanding of sorts between us. I don’t know the how or the why something like that happens between two people, and fuck…we spent three days communicating through looks and body language, but you can’t deny it, Auralie…you and I have something that ties us together, and I’m not sure what it is. But it was absolutely confirmed after the way we consumed each other last night.”
God, and I know it too. I felt it from the very first time we beheld each other. Call it metaphysical or just a product of my underused imagination, but there is a connection there that I’ve never experienced with another human being in my life.
“You with me?” Logan asks quietly.
I nod, getting ready to speak the words back to him, but the waitress arrives with our food. The intimate connection is broken as we both lean back a bit so she can set the plates down. After she leaves, Logan picks up his utensils. While he busies himself pulling his eggs over onto his hash browns and cutting them all up together—same as I like to do—he says casually, “I’ve got a fishing trip this afternoon, but I’ll pick you up at six tonight. I’m taking you out to dinner.”
I loved Logan and Auralie's relationship. Like I mentioned earlier (and in the above excerpt) they had deep connection that they were both baffled by. They were intrigued by the other person and their relationship wasn't just about sex (because it couldn't be). Logan was so darn sweet and genuinely wanted to know the real Auralie and help her. But he struggled with the fact that she wasn't willing to accept his help. But Auralie had her reasons for auctioning off her virginity and even though she fell for Logan HARD, she didn't want to get him involved.

This series continues to be so freaking good! After reading the last book and seeing Logan play the part that he did (holy threesome hotness Batman!) I was curious as to how his story would unfold and I wasn't disappointed.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for the next book....BRIDGER'S BOOK!! Yay! Ever since we met him in the first book I have been intrigued by him. And the little glimpse we get at the end of this book...OMG. So excited!

RELEASE BLITZ: Cleat Catcher (Cleat Chaser Duet #2) by Celia Aaron and Sloane Howell

AP new - synopsis.jpg

What happens when an unrepentant Cleat Chaser meets the player of her dreams?

Nikki Graves has a history of going through the baseball roster with an eye for talent--the kind of talent that keeps things spicy between the sheets. But, once she meets Braden Bradford, catcher for the Ravens, her talent scout days are done. He's the one.

Braden has never met a woman like Nikki, and he can't get enough of her smart mouth and big heart. But life isn't always as direct and certain as the connection between Braden and Nikki. When family objections and career trajectories begin to crowd the plate, will Braden be able to keep his catch of a lifetime?

AP new - excerpt.jpg

I shot back against the cushion, doing my best to act normal. Nik pushed the door open. “Hey, babe. I was waiting for my dessert course.” I made a show of scrubbing my hand across my mouth and face like I was clearing her a space.

“I’m good.” Her tone was flat, and she didn’t even look at me.

What the hell?

Her usual spark was gone. She sauntered over to the side table, and dropped her keys and bag on it.

I glanced down at the laptop screen full of porn. Fuck! I’d been researching some new shit to try out with her, but there was no way she’d believe me. My gaze drifted to the mouse way up under the table. There was no chance I could get to it without giving away my knee situation.

Using my good leg, I tried to gently kick the computer screen closed, and, of course, it only opened wider.

“Have you moved from the couch all night? Did you even shower?” She sighed, still facing the wall like she had no interest in looking at me.

“What’s wrong, babe? What happened?” My mind raced. A lot could have occurred at Estate de CuntMuffin that would set her off. I’d been worried the whole time she was gone.

“I’m fine.” She turned around, and I watched her eyes dart straight to the computer screen. Her brows pinched together and her hands went to her hips.

Fuck me. This won’t be good.

“Nice, Braden. Real fucking nice.”

“It’s not what you think. I don’t look at porn.” I stared in the other direction and mumbled. “Often.”

“Your fingers slip and accidentally type in ‘fuckmedaddy.com?’” She scowled and began to pace back and forth.

I’d expected her to be upset about the porn, but not this much. I was halfway hoping she’d want to look at it with me. “No. I was trying to find new stuff to try out on you. If you must know.”

Her lips curled like she might smile, and then they mashed back into a thin line.

So close.

“Have they said if you’re going to be traded or not?” She took another step toward me, ignoring all of the pussy acrobatics flashing on the laptop.

“No.” I tilted my head to my lap and ground my teeth while I tried to compose myself. I’d been trying to forget about that shit all day, but the pain in my knee kept it front and center in my mind.

She made a pfft sound and threw her arms in the air.

“Babe, I’m sorry. I know I’m supposed to have a clue what you’re upset about. I just don’t.”

A million things rocketed through my mind at once and brought my entire thought process to a crashing halt. My brain buffered slower than the inverted cowgirl pussy nomming scene I’d attempted to watch earlier.

Nik scowled, and then folded her arms across her chest. She stared me down like a closer in the ninth inning. “Think really really hard about the problem we have.”

My eyes rolled up toward the ceiling. “Uhh, your parents?” I glanced back and tried to judge her reaction.

She made a loud sound like a buzzer that startled me.

“Fucking hell. I mean, umm, me being traded?” I held my hands up and shrugged.

“Warmer.” She took another step toward me.

I hated this fucking guessing game. Why couldn’t she just say it? Heat rushed into my face, and my body tensed.

“Can you just tell me? Please. Stop fucking around with me.” I smacked my hand against the back of the sofa, and Nik jumped.

“Maybe my parents were right. Maybe you do have anger issues.” She stomped off a few steps and whipped back around. “Easton!”

“Take that shit back. You know I don’t. Maybe your goddamn family just brings it out of everyone. Maybe you’re more like your mo—” I froze stiff on the couch, and my eyes bugged out. I held up my hands. “I stopped myself. You heard me. I did not say it.”

It was too late. I thought my head was going to explode the way Nik glowered in my direction. Her hands were squeezed into fists at her sides, and I could see all the whites of her knuckles. She started toward me like a possessed demon. “Did you say what I think you said?”

Do not answer, Braden. That shit is rhetorical. Adapt and survive.

I shook my head quickly and braced myself in case she resorted to physical violence.
