We’re done ignoring us.” His hand cups my face, fingers stroking my cheeks down to my chin. When my lips part, his eyes drop to my mouth, focusing on my lips.

My Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a great way to end this lovely little series! I couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out.

The book picks up right where the last left off...Grayson at the strip club and Emma taking the stage. With this being the last book in this series I knew that all the loose ends would probably be tied up, but I didn't expect for the club story line to be cleaned up so neatly. Emma stumbles upon a meeting she shouldn't see and ends up being in the middle of what is going down. Luckily Grayson and the Titan guys are there to take care of business and it all works out.

From that point on Grayson and Emma are all about their relationship. They fall into an easy routine and eventually tell Cally who Grayson really is. She takes it like a trooper and just like that the three of them are a family. I loved watching Grayson learn how to not only be a good man for Emma, but how to be a dad. There are so many adorable moments between Grayson and Cally. And Cally had no problem accepting Grayson into her life. The two of them were adorable and it was so heartwarming to see. Grayson had his doubts about being a father, but it was very clear that he was going to be a wonderful father.

At the end of the book Grayson and Emma are finally getting their happily ever after and the whole thing was wonderful. Emma says her vows and I cried like a little baby:

"I remember the first day I realized you were my friend, not just my brother’s. We were at recess, and some kid pushed me off the swings.”

“Jerk,” he whispers, grinning.

I laugh quietly. “You chased him away, picked me up, and set me back on the swing. I think you even gave me a little push. Then you ran off to play. But you looked back…that was the day I fell in love with you.” I smile and take a deep breath. “There’s this saying: stars can’t shine unless they’re cloaked in darkness. I’m not sure that’s true. They’re always there, always shining. It just depends on whether we can see them. And that’s us.”

He squeezes my hands, his thumbs running across my skin.

“Our love has always been there. You said storms, but I say life, and Grayson, I will walk through a hurricane with you, no matter what challenges come our way, because I love you. I’m yours as much as you’re mine, and I want to be the family that holds you, that picks you up and cheers you on. I want to be Mrs. Emma Ford."

After reading the series and knowing what they went through to get to that moment made it so that much more moving.

Happily ever after indeed.

I'm so glad that the author went out of her comfort zone to write this series. I really enjoyed it. The only thing I hated was waiting for the next book to come out...talk about torture! Reading this series made me want to go back and read the Titan series. Those boys definitely piqued my curiosity. Now I just have to find the time to do it!

OH. MY. GOD. What a way to end the book! Let's just say Emma has some explaining to do!

At the end of the 2nd book we had little Cally running into the house, surprising Emma and Grayson. Not the reunion that they would have chose, but they didn't have a choice. The whole thing was actually quite adorable. Grayson is awestruck by his daughter and it was a beautiful thing to read. Emma's sister Cherry is none to pleased to see that Grayson is alive and well, but Emma makes it very clear to her that he is not going anywhere.

After the unexpected family reunion, Emma and Grayson voice to each other that they are both in this for the long run. They are fully committed to making this work and being a family. Not even a surprise ambush from Cherry and their brother Ryan can change Emma's mind. In a little surprise twist, Ryan admits that he feels partially responsible for everything that happened. Both Cherry and Emma tell him that things were set in motion long before he got involved. Later at Emma's parent's house, her mother and father seem to be okay with his reappearance, but it is very clear that Ryan is going to need some convincing.

There are so many sweet moments in this book, especially between Grayson and Cally. Right now Cally sees him as "mommy's friend" but to Grayson, Cally (and Emma) are his everything. Right now it's the little things, like taking her out of her car seat, that mean so much to him. They may seem like normal, everyday interactions to anyone watching from the sidelines, but those interactions mean the world to Grayson.

I liked that in this book we got a lot of dialogue between Emma and Grayson, which was something that was definitely missing from their past relationship. Something happens that could have easily made Emma run, but she gives him a chance to explain. He even gives Emma his old notebook (which he retrieved when he paid a visit to his father) full of things he wrote, but never had the courage to give to her. They are able to talk things out and finally seem to be in a good place. Emphasis on the word "seem."

The last chapter of the book has Grayson working with the Titan guys. They are going to an establishment where they suspect come human trafficking is taking place. And that is all I will say about that.

The last book of this series is bound to be a doozy and I can't wait to read it!

My Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Grayson is alive! Emma spends weeks mourning his passing and then one day he calls her. Their phone call is an uncomfortable one. Emma makes it very clear that he can't just call her out of the blue and expect everything to be okay. The conversation is a lot of back and forth and of course nothing is resolved after a few minutes. But one thing's for sure: Grayson is not giving up. He sends her this text message minutes after they end their phone call:

Unknown number: I’ll fix what I fucked up. Prepare yourself, Ems, I’m coming for you and I want forgiveness.

Later that night Emma is out with her coworkers, but she is having a hard time concentrating. She eventually gives up and goes home to call Grayson. While they are talking Grayson realizes that Emma is a lot closer than he realizes and he ends up on her doorstep. (Thank you Parker!)

What follows is an exhausting and emotional night of Grayson trying to explain himself and Emma trying to forgive him. We finally learn why Grayson blames himself for the death of his mother and you can't help but feel sorry for him.

By the end of the book Emma and Grayson's relationship seems to be on the mend. But there are still so many things that need to happen before things are okay again. What will happen when Grayson meets his daughter? Or finds out that Emma strips one night a week? Or when her family finds out he's alive. Her brother was Grayson's best friend and carries a lot of animosity towards him. What will that reunion be like? Again, more questions that will hopefully be answered in the next book.

My Review

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to start this review with a bit of a disclaimer. When I received my approval from Netgalley, this was included in the email:

The Only series follows Grayson and Emma as they find their HEA. There will be cliffhangers but each novella also takes on and completes an individual story arc. Each novella is written like a TV show episode. This is *not* a novel written and chopped up.

So yeah...this book not only ends on a cliffhanger, but it was a cliffhanger that made me yell "WHAT?" (thank god I was home and not on public transportation) and immediately tweet the author to find out when the next book was coming out. So if you don't like that kind of thing, you may want to wait until all the parts are out before reading.

Grayson Ford and Emma Kingsley have known each other for years and are best friends. He has a secret shitty home life and finds his escape at the Kingsley household. From the very beginning of the book it is clear that they both have feelings for each other, but it isn't until their senior year of high school that Grayson makes a move on Emma.

The two go to the Sadie Hawkins Dance and end up back at Grayson's house, but before anything can happen, Grayson's father comes home and Emma finds out just how bad he has it. Grayson worries that Emma discovering his secret will change the way she feels about him, but that is not the case. Despite knowing that they will be parting ways in the Fall, Emma and Grayson spend the summer together. They go to a beach house with friends and enjoy each other's company. They even say the "l word" and consummate their relationship. It's all very sweet and lovely and they make a nice couple.

I really did enjoy this book, but I would have liked to seen some Emma and Grayson flashbacks. It's obvious they are best friends, but how did they get there? Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes so I love to read about the path they took. I feel like once I know more about them I will be able to connect to them more.

Perhaps we will get some of those in the upcoming books? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS and I NEED answers! Although I well aware this series is far from over so I doubt I will get them any time soon! AHHHHH!!!
