“He runs from the altar—and finds love in the place he least expects.”

RUNAWAY GROOMSMAN, a brand new, heartfelt romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn about new beginnings and finding the romanticized happily ever after in the most unlikely of places, is Now Available in all formats! Dive into this slow burn romance with “a healthy dose of humor and heart” (Library Journal). One-click your copy today!

Hollywood screenwriter Sawyer Walsh knows a good love story when he sees it. But when it comes to real life romance, he’s a mess. That’s how he finds himself standing at the altar…as his ex-girlfriend ties the knot with his very famous best friend. The pressure, the resentment, the media coverage—it’s all too much—and before he knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s making a run for it, leaving a shocked congregation and flashing cameras in his wake.

Needing to lie low amid the media fallout, Sawyer lands in the charming town of Canoodle, California, where he crosses paths with Fallon Long, who runs the Canoodle Cove Cabins, a family-owned business and Sawyer’s new short-term residence. Overwhelmed with renovations and her long list of responsibilities, Fallon is struggling to make ends meet while attempting to bring the cabins back to their original glory. So when Sawyer arrives, she is grateful for the income, but immediately writes him off as just another vapid Hollywood hack, until he begins to prove her wrong at every turn.

As Fallon comes closer to saving the family business, an undeniable bond forms between her and the handsome screenwriter. But the pressures of her family obligations and Sawyer’s notoriety might prove to be too much for anyone to handle. Could Canoodle be the setting for a new romance—or is true love just a Hollywood cliché?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Sawyer needs to lay low for a little bit and finds himself in Canoodle, California. He's drunk, wearing a ridiculous tux and needs a place to stay. Luckily for him, he meets Fallon and she provides him with that place. It only takes a day for Sawyer to realize that Canoodle is a place where he lick his wounds and wait for things to go back to normal.

And that is when things get interesting. Fallon is in the middle of renovating and through a bit of mistaken identity, Sawyer finds himself taking part in those renovations. Without Fallon knowing about it. That was actually one of the things I liked best about this book. Sawyer enjoyed the work and it allowed him to get to know Fallon's grandfather, but it also made him feel useful.

Throughout his stay he ends up helping Fallon and they  become friends. The slow burn comes in because when the book starts Fallon has a boyfriend, but I can assure that this book is safe. And to be honest I love when a couple is friends first and that is exactly what Sawyer and Fallon become....friends.

The entire time I was reading this book, I was picturing it as a movie. It had a very Hallmark-y feel to it. Like most Hallmark movies, it is a slow burn and while I don't always like reading slow burns, I really loved this one. While it has that Hallmark feel to it, this book also brings the spice...it just takes a bit to get there. And it is totally worth it!
