Fame made him selfish.
Hollywood heartthrob, Maxton Waters, has just been named the World’s Sexiest Man Alive. Women fantasize about him. Men want to be him. The paparazzi continuously follow him. His ego is definitely larger than his heart.
Poverty made her grateful.
Whitley Gonzalez has made a life for herself after growing up in and out of homeless shelters. Now a hardworking nurse, she spends her spare time raising her son alone and giving back to the community that helped raise her.
But when Max is sentenced to hours of community services and placed under the single mom’s thumb, working together proves harder than they ever expected, inspiring an unlikely love in the city.
*Can be read as a standalone*
I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.
When Maxton has to perform community service, Whitley is his supervisor and the two couldn’t be more different. She is a single mom and he is a very famous actor. He's just been voted world’s sexiest man alive, while she is a regular 9 to 5 working mom. But there is something about her that intrigues him. And as he discovers more about her, Maxton wants nothing more than to get to know her even more.
I loved Maxton. He was such a down to earth guy. Whitley had a lot of preconceived notions about him and he had no problem proving her wrong. Pretty much every time she thought she had him figured out, Maxton would do something to surprise her. And I loved the bond that he formed with her son Zane. It helped that her son was a fan of Maxton's, but he took the time to get to know Zane. They shared a lot of the same interests and it turned out Zane is not only a pretty cool kid, but he's also really easy to love.
I loved Whitley and Maxton as a couple. As I mentioned earlier, Maxton was all about trying to prove to Whitley that he was more than the famous actor that everyone thought they knew. Yes, his community service was court appointed, but it turned into so much more than that. He had such a kind heart and was always looking out for both Whitley and Zane. And of course he knew when to turn on the charm and that made his very hard to resist. Just ask Whitley.
I didn't realize how much I missed this series until I started reading this book! I've mentioned this in previous reviews, but Steph is the Queen of Banter! I love when all the guys get together and give each other a hard time. (Except when it’s Justin. LEAVE ME JUSTIN ALONE! Hee hee!) And in this book we get some female bonding time that rivals that of the men. It was equally as hilarious and had me laughing out loud. This book is a great addition to the series and I can't wait to get Cash's story!
Steph Nuss was born and raised in rural Kansas, where she currently resides with her black Labrador son named Gunner. She grew up with a passion for reading and writing. When she’s not immersed into the land of fiction, she enjoys listening to music that came before her time, watching movies and reruns of her favorite shows, and hanging out with her family and friends. She also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology that she’ll never use…unless she’s profiling her characters of course.
