RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Could Have Been Us by Corinne Michaels

New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels returns to the Willow Creek Valley Series in this stunning friends-to-lovers/brother’s best friend romance.

Fifteen years ago, I fell for Jack O’Donnell.

I was just a girl, but I knew my brother’s best friend was the only man I’d ever love.

On my eighteenth birthday, when I asked him to kiss me, I never imagined it would change my life so completely.

I gave Jack everything that night.

In order to move on, we had to go our separate ways and pretend like nothing happened... as though it wasn’t the greatest moment of my life.

But even that wasn’t as heartbreaking as the secret we were forced to keep.

I’ve tried not to think about how much I still love him. How I long to be back in his strong arms or the way his hazel eyes make my heart race.

Until he kisses me again. And this time there’s no turning back. This time I know what it means.

We belong together and there’s no use denying it any longer.

But our feelings aren’t the only thing that won’t stay buried, our past resurfaces and threatens to destroy our second chance at happiness.

When our love is tested once again, will we be strong enough to stand together?

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Going into this, I was so curious about Jack and Stella's relationship. It was clear from the previous book that they had a past, but that was all we knew. Well, this book starts off by kicking you right in the heart and everything started to make sense. I know that Corinne loves to torture her readers so I wasn't surprised, but I definitely wasn't expecting the book to go the way it did.

I really enjoyed this book, but I definitely yelled at my kindle a bit. "JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY!" was definitely said a few times, but thankfully we didn't have to wait too long for that to happen. Then the book just took off and I was so engrossed in how everything was going to play out.

This is an emotional read that will take you on quite a journey, but most of Corinne's book are like that so just make sure you have some tissues handy.

RELEASE BLITZ & 5 STAR REVIEW: The Belle and the Beard by Kate Canterbary

The Belle and the Beard by Kate Canterbary is now live!

Jasper-Anne Cleary’s guide to salvaging your life when you find yourself publicly humiliated, out of work, and unemployable at 35—not to mention newly single:

1. Run away. Seriously, there’s no shame in disappearing. Go to that rustic old cottage your aunt left you. Look out for the colony of bats and the leaky roof. Oh, and the barrel-chested neighbor with shoulders like the broad side of a barn. Definitely look out for him.

2. Stop wallowing and stay busy. It doesn’t matter whether you know how to bake or fix things around the house. Do it anyway. Dust off your southern hospitality and feed that burly, bearded neighbor some pecan pie.

3. Meet new people. Chat up the grumpy man-bear, pretend to be his girlfriend when his mother puts you two on the spot, agree to go as his date to a big family party. Don’t worry—it’s only temporary.

4. Cry it out. Screwing up your life entitles you to wine, broody-moody music, and uninterrupted sobbing.

5. Get over it all by getting under someone. Count on your fake boyfriend to deliver some very real action between the sheets.

6. Move on. The disappearing act, the cottage, the faux beau—none of it can last forever.

Linden Santillian’s guide to surviving the invasion when a hell-in-heels campaign strategist moves in next door:

1. Do not engage. There is no good reason you should chop her wood, haul her boxes, or pick her apples.

2. Do not accept gifts, especially not the homemade ones. Disconnect the doorbell, toss your phone over a bridge, hide in the basement if you must, but do not eat her pie.

3. Do not introduce her to your friends and family. They’ll favor her over you and never let you forget it.

4. Do not intervene when she’s crying on the back porch. Ignore every desire to fix the entire world for her. By no means should you take her into your arms and memorize her peach-sweet curves.

5. Do not take her to bed, even if it’s just to get her out of your system.

6. Do not, under any circumstances, fall in love with her.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I have not read The Magnolia Chronicles or Boss in the Bedsheets so this is my first time meeting Linden Santillian. And ooooh boy. This man is a big ol' cinnamon roll. Whew.
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

Jasper-Anne is at a crossroads in her life. She is a bit lost and trying to find her way. When she decides to live in the house her aunt left her, she never thought that she would living next to the most stubborn man she has ever met.

Linden is not only stubborn, but he is also grumpy. He's not the grumpiest character I've read, but he's definitely up there. And when Jasper-Anne enters his life, he is not prepared for it, but he also accepts her with no problem.

Seriously. This man. He is constantly doing things for her because he just can't help himself. He just wants to help her. And even though she is all about her independence and doesn't want him to do things for her, she gives in. It's just....gahhhhhhhhhhhhh! It's just so good.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

I really do love the whole "I know you are famous (in this case an athlete), but that doesn't impress me because I have no idea who you are" trope. I love it so much because usually a character really has to work on winning the other person over. And that is exactly what King has to do with Silver.

Silver is just fine living her life at Camp Dakota. She has a job she loves, wonderful friends and her own little slice of heaven. King showing up almost immediately throws a wrinkle in all of that and while she thinks she is immune to his charms, of course she isn't.

I enjoyed seeing how their relationship evolved throughout the book. King wasn't a bad guy, he just needed to be knocked down a few pegs and his time at Camp Dakota was perfect for that.

Throughout the book, both King and Silver, but mostly Silver, had to make some big decisions about their lives. The secondary story line was Silver's and it was a doozy! Luckily she had King to lean on because it was....well it was a lot.

This is a sweet book filled with a lot of quiet moments that made me feel all warm and fuzzy. And if you are a fan of KK's you will even recognize some familiar faces.

4 STAR REVIEW: Earn Your Extra Credit by Meghan Quinn

"She went home with someone else that night?"

Hearing the disbelief from my best friend's mouth makes the events of my failed date sting that much more.

I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don't normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it's a date, and then give me a high five--as if I'm her wingman--and take off with someone else.

No. Normally I'm the one taking the girl home but with Stella, it's been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I'm done trying.

But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I'm stuck on a tropical island, watching Stella parade around in what she claims is a bathing suit.

Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it, just the tip of the iceberg. Because what I think is going to be a relaxing vacation, avoiding the one girl I can't seem to make it work with, has turned into a spectacle of being recruited as Stella's doting fake fiancé so she can save face with an old "friend" from high school.

Now I'm navigating through purgatory while trying not to get turned on by the way she holds my hand or kisses my jaw. It's all fake, that's what I keep telling myself, even though it feels entirely too real.

My Review

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Romeo is in love and unlike Shakespeare's Romeo, this is a case of unrequited love. And Stella couldn't be more in the dark about his feelings for her. But all that changes when they go to Hawaii for Arlo and Greer's wedding. And what follows is your typical Meghan Quinn romance.

I can't remember that last time I read a book with the fake fiancé trope. I found this one a bit frustrating because Romeo and Stella were at odds for so much of the book, but these two had some wonderful (and really sexy) moments that saved it for me.

I definitely enjoyed this book more than See Me After Class. As always, there were some very funny moments throughout the whole book. Meghan really knows how to bring the comedy, especially when it is needed the most. Romeo and Stella were frustrating at times, but when they were at their best, they were an amazing couple.
